The Sheriff needs to learn from Lord Vetinari (Discworld): "Never build a dungeon you wouldn't want to spend the night in yourself"

Robert Addie and Lewis Collins together! Always a treat to see two of my first three crushes at the same time, although bearing in mind the sorts of characters they both played it's no wonder my first attempts at relationships were full of bad choices hem hem (especially since the third crush was Avon from Blake's 7). Another enjoyable and insightful reaction, thanks.

Yes, I think some of the Nasir backstory that had originally been developed for The Greatest Enemy was held over for this episode instead. It is done very well, and Sarak feels like a worthy adversary for Nasir. The whole episode is very enjoyable - it is interesting to see the Sheriff so vulnerable for a change, and Lewis Collins is excellent as the cocksure Philip Mark, whose overweening arrogance contributes to his downfall. The scene where the outlaws pose as flagellants felt a bit anachronistic, as it was only later in the Middle Ages that the Flagellant movement became big, especially during the Black Death.

Great stuff! I love the focus on Nasir's backstory, the new sheriff is a solid villain and the old sheriff just goes ham on chewing the scenery!

I think there's more than one person chewing on the scenery in this episode. Hope it was tasty.

I love the carter in the opening scene of this episode and of course the old prisoner and Arthur 🐁RoS had some great side characters.

I really enjoy this Nasir backstory episode. Valentine Pełka does an excellent job as Sarak... The location for the duel is Chew Valley Lake near Bristol x

2.26 This sequence was filmed on Brean beach passing for a desert:). 2.18 The late great Lewis Collins from the classic action show, The Professionals (may not be your cup of tea Alexa but it does have one of the greatest opening credit sequences ever, and a funky theme tune).

The second version of the opening credits is pretty cool. I always thought the first version was very much of its time rather than timeless, whereas the second seems more consistent with the opening themes of the previous Mark One productions, The Avengers and (especially) The New Avengers. I remember reading that Lewis Collins and the cast went out for a riotous dinner after filming, and it got into the papers with some headline about Bodie and the Merries on a Bender

When Robin confesses he did not know that was Nasir vs the Sheriff's man, he just lived in hope, I love how Marion is both horrified and impressed at the same time.

There can be only one. Valentine Pelka also played Kronos on Highlander The Series, ring leader of the Four Horsemen Of The Apocalypse. They must have seen his sword fighting prowess in this. He proved a popular, millennia old, recurring villain.

It is more powerful for IRL fights than the sickly malnourished look that actors actively dehydrate themselves to achieve. I like that he has this look, it is realistic.

@@alexachipman I am not sure, if I was living in the forest, hunting my own food, collecting firewood, training in sword play with my friends and not eating added sugar and junk food I would like to think I would be pretty streamlined, like any otter.
