No one sounds like Robin Trower. His reverse rakes, his bends, his vibrato, his chord voicings. He's always been my favorite blues rock guitarist and he still has the magic. Tone to die for.

When I heard the Bridge of Sighs record in 74, that was it. From that moment on I knew guitar was in my future.

Saw him headline at Philadelphia Spectrum in 76-77, Rush opened, 2112 tour, Montrose in the middle with Sammy Hagar! What an incredible night! Trowers use of the Univibe through Marshalls, oscillated the roof off!

This makes me slobber! Montrose's first album is my benchmark for hard rock albums, Rush's 2112 is adequate ( huge understatement ) and Robin's trio in their prime with with James Dewar's velvet tinged vocals, wow!

Was 1975 the first time I heard "Bridge of Sighs" album and it blew me away. In1975 we ended up playing 2 cuts off it Day of the Eagle and Too Rollin' Stoned. Trower had his distinct tone and style like no other.

@@AlexSosaBolivia ah there’s always one that wants to argue…guitar players below the age of 35 probably won’t have him in there top 5 and maybe even top 10 that influences them but if players take the time to check him out he will be 100% be appreciated. He’s not the first name that comes out of peoples mouths when they talk about there favourite guitar players and I mean that in the most respectful way by the way 👍🏻

I have always loved Robin Trower's playing and I love the sound of marshal amps with green back speakers. I also run two amps, one vox and one marshall, the tones are well suited for me.

Glad he was successful with his power trio lineup of Dewar, and Isidore/Lordan. But he sure powered out Procol Harum with Whisky Train and Simple Sister. I think Gary Brooker had the same sentiment as Keith Emerson, "a profound mistrust of lead guitarists". Have seen him through several different band incarnations, and they never disappointed. I met him about 8 years ago. His advice to capture a shred of his tone was to "play it loud". As they say, a true magician never reveals his secrets, haha.

He is using the fulltone Dejavibe at 1.12 on the Vibrato setting, unusual for him as he usually uses the chorus setting.

Love his soulfull playing! At about 1:23 (when he plays in those higher positions) you hear a lot off string pull though, which means his pickups are set high; to high in fact.
