5 Point Tip Summary! xo, Rob 1. If you have 20 minutes, use them. Don't wait for the perfect time to create. 2. Discover personal direction or style. Find aesthetics or emotional concepts that are important to you and drive your art forward. 3. Find success in things you can control; your effort, time, progress, and commitment. 4. Make goals to motivate you in the vital early stages for your journey. Act first, and let acting create motivation. Don't wait for motivation to lead you to act. Good luck!

This is probably the best video about finding motivation I've seen so far. Most KZbinrs throw around things like "Try something new, use new supplies". It really didn't help me when I was going through a really awful time. THIS is actually good advice.

YES!! This video is so well made and well said (and well painted - I especially love the man with the helmet). A few years ago, I was in a huge creative rut and working in a non-creative job (biology). I decided to take on the 100-day challenge and it literally changed my life. I didn’t have a specific project in mind, I just challenged myself to show up and do something creative for 20 minutes a day - whether that meant knitting a few rows, sketching, editing photos, or anything else. I managed to do it for the whole 100 days, which meant 100 days of creative practice that wouldn’t have otherwise happened, and I continued well after the end date. Turning creativity into a routine totally changed my relationship with making art to the point where I’m now I’m in design school pursuing a new, creative career 😂 You’re a huge inspiration, Robin! Thank you for doing what you do ❤️❤️❤️

I am just so amazed with you and your videos! I have always been a creative person. I spent a year teaching at the high school level in a pilot program for students in college to discover if teaching was a path for them. I am so thankful to have been involved with this program. I discovered that there was more paperwork than actual teaching at this level, more of a childcare or “babysitter” position than art instructor! I broke away from the college path and started working freelance and in 1981 this was quite difficult back then! No Internet, art fairs and word of mouth were the only way that I got work! I am just so glad that aspiring artists have so many more venues to explore and create their art and have a living creating art! These are truly wonderful times we are living in! Present world situation and everything else considered! Wonderful video Robin. I hope sharing your Patreon content is appreciated by all your viewers! Be Well!

Just found you through IG and now subbed here. I am motivated but not having much luck with sales. That makes me feel sort of useless as far as my art goes. I create art every day…it’s life for me! Sooooo much art is stacked up, offered on my web site, and on IG, but not much luck with sales. Thanks for the words of motivation and encouragement here. ❤️

Well said, I think we think we won't revisit things we were once sure we would do more... even though they could come back like this.... Like (is that your dad as an astronaut?) The man was pure sketchbook becomes finished quality. Style is important but protecting your creativity by nurturing a plan to be intentional so you get more motivation is key... Because then you have that flow that goes to your hand second only to your eyes. But then listening to music/podcast/vlog is essential but easier to choose.... I mean you need something to help the flow but the key is to not hurt the flow instead of needing what you listen to to be dramatically entertaining. To me reassuring video/music is key to me as an artist, and learning something/realigning to something already known is the best therapy..... Which is why KZbin should just be getting started so we don't get boxed in. I like how you're more sharing with your videos... I often think I want to do magnificent time lapses and maybe I will, but cheerful and creative might be better. Stay refreshed!

Time is always ahead from me, and I will end another decade of my life soon. Thank you for this! I really need someone or something to push me, convincing me or motivating me has been tough for the past two years, pandemic caused me to gradually decline my self-esteem, deteriorating my confidence. I want to recollect my every piece and revive the life I had. I will be healed, soon.

I personally have zero expectations in having my own art career. I accept that there are too many artists out there, and my art will only get lost in the huge creative sea. I'm actually cool with that. If I sell just a couple of pieces then that's awesome. I wished I started 10 or 15 years ago . Oh well.

yep, any spare time you have, create with it. way too much can just get in the way or bog us down, so a person has to seize those 20 minutes and use it wisely
