Fantastic playthrough! This is such a great game that tells some great stories. I had a similarly tight ending of this same scenario the other day. I too was agonisingly 1 wood short of building the jolly boat after the 8th round event card. Or so I thought! I'd forgotten that I would get 1 wood from the production phase, which gave me the win. All that and 1 solitary piece of wood was the difference between winning and losing!

As much as I’ve been frustrated at times by a bad session of this game where I die, maybe due to bad luck and/or bad rolls, I take those failures as the bitter side of the game, in contrast to the sweet, which is when you DO win and it feels freaking amazing!

Nicely done! At 33:28, I noticed you placed 2 white disks at the top of the map; unfortunately, I believe those 2 spaces are non-playable areas (page 4 of the rulebook).

You're right. The map design is misleading though. They shouldn't have drawn the straight lines for the outermost hexagons. Or they should have made them a different color or something.

Quick correction: the camp side of the camp tile is the X. When you build the shelter, it flips to the Shelter side. So unfortunately you don't start with a prebuilt shelter in this scenario!

@@OneStopCoopShop Hey Colin, if you see around 4:40 you read the rules that say "The Camp token is placed on tile 10 (Camp side up)". The Camp side is the side with the X (i.e. before you build the shelter), the opposite side is the Shelter side. If you read paragraph 9 of page 2 in the manual (Setup), the standard setup rules say: 'Take the Island tile marked with the number 8 and place it face up in the indicated Island space on the main board. Place the Camp token (Camp side up) on that tile.' Page 10 (building) says: "When you build Shelter, discard the required resources, turn the Camp token upside down (to the Shelter side)."

Hands down the best playthrough I have seen of RC. The effort you put in camera work and editing is awesome, I'd recommend this video over any tutorial! One question though, in round 6 the carpenter is building on the roof using a combination of wood and furs, but I think it says in the rules you're not allowed to combine resources like that.

When you fought the alligator you had to decrease the weapon level 2 steps, your weapon level is 1 (no temp boost counted), dont you get a wound for not being able to decrease 2 levels? As a general rule if you cannot perform a required action you are taking a wound, just because game loves you :)

2 languages?!? That is awesome! OK for the campaign, I tried. . seriously tried. . . But the rules are just so . . GAH! I gave up on it and sold it. I am keeping it for one off plays. The beagle expansion I actually REALLY enjoyed that one. But the Mystery Tales only did the first 2 scenarios and gave up. Sorry!!

At 29:45 when you resolve the treasure map it said draw 2 cards and resolve the treasure only, so you have to draw 2 only, not until you draw 2 treasure right?

No, Colin did play that correctly. The latest rule book page 20 gives an ie in last paragraph: "if a card says 'draw 1 mystery card (only resolve one treasure)' , it means that you keep revealing cards until you have drawn 1 mystery card with 1 treasure on it." Unfortunatly its just poor wording on the card.

But in case I am winning, then I do not feel like I deserve to gain victory if not fully followed the rules.
