E. G. R. was not only one of the greatest actors of the 20th Century, but also highly intelligent, a gifted speaker with a brilliant intellect, but a humble man who was greatly admired.

A great actor and a nice man. An amazingly versatile filmography: Just in the 40s alone: A dedicated doctor seeking a cure for syphilis, a reluctant, overaged war hero, a brutal yet intellectual sea captain, a naive power linesman caught in a love triangle, a loving Norwegian father/farmer, a crafty insurance investigator, a milquetoast husband driven to murder by unrequited love, a deranged farmer harboring a dark secret, a determined Nazi hunter - and finally, coming full circle as a ruthless, sadistic mobster terrorizing the occupants of a hotel in Key Largo. An incredible resume -- yet EGR was never even nominated for an Academy Award.

It shows what a good actor Mr Robinson was when you hear this interview. I am so pleased to learn about the real, cultured, articulate gentleman today and similarly it would be interesting to hear the real James Cagney etc

Great guy, great actor. Nice to hear the real man behind the tough-guy image.

Hi Joseph... Are you Romanian? My mother is from Galati. (I probably misspelled it.)

@@phonographsmemories1486 actually no, from London, but have many friends from Romania, and especially Galati, which I love to tease my Female friend from that town because they seem to be all beautiful 😂😂

Did Edward G. ever mention what he thought of Marlon Brando?
@AnandaCollins Жыл бұрын
Yes, he mentions Brando in his autobiography. He said Brando was one of the most intelligent actors out there, but he regretted the fact that Brando didn't enjoy being an actor. Robinson said Brando could do more for humanity doing great films that elevated the human spirit rather than showing sporadic interest in the Native Americans.
