I've always found this level of attention to detail charming in old PC games. The unique ways in which your actions can backfire really adds to the immersion.

Same here. I don't know why, but old games seem to be more immersive to me than newer ones.

to be fair there's also the fact that the incredibly detailed health management system was one of the game's main gimmicks/selling points

A couple of things I don't understand from the CD version is why they changed the game over sequence and why they didn't bother to stop the game from acting as if you were still alive after dying.

What’s the sesame and why are they watching it
@ruslanfattakhov98143 жыл бұрын
"Sesame" is a computer that every Robinson in this game has. It is used to monitor every action that Robinson performs and to check their vitals (heart rate, blood pressure, body temperature, etc.). If Robinson dies, the cause of death is the last reading you can get from Sesame.

IIRC, food poisoning in this game does not kill direclty, it kills INdirectly (high body temperature from fever). I may be wrong.

because you legit go insane at high levels of hyperthermia and hypothermia. I don't want to enter in details, since wikipedia covers pretty much of it, but basically your brain functions extremely bad and you go back to a sort of animal level of intellect.

The one death that confuses me is "State of shock"... Like... He didn't bleed out? He died from the shock it's self? Or is it because the shock is what lead to him dying from blood loss? Or am I just being stupid?
@EddieSpaghetti694 ай бұрын
That can happen in real life fairly easily; pain signals can overwhelm the brain and set the body into a state where it ends up in a hypertensed state for far too long and inadvertantly starves you of oxygen because your chest cavity ends up nearly paralyzed from overwhelming pain. You won't pass from just the pain, but the symptoms from it afterwards. Syncope is another unique one. It comes from being "incapable of adapting to the surroundings", syn-cope, and essentially means "You're going to perish eventually and this is the situation that caused it far, far down the line." whether it's anaphalactic shock from bee stings or from having *no arms or legs* and not being able to really survive in the wilderness.
