Just encountered this issue on my wife’s 06 trailblazer with the codes U1064 and U1016 along with B codes and and C codes. I’m hoping the computer isn’t taking a crap but watching this video gave me hope that it’s having communication issues. This video is pure gold! You explained everything clearly and with no confusion! You are an amazing tech! I am a mechanic but not on the scale you are! I’m just amazed at the skills you have! Thank you so much for giving back to everyone who may need guidance on these issues! Definitely earned a subscriber in me! Keep up the amazing content man! 🤙🏽

Nice job. I spent 20 years in the GM/Delphi/Mahle Advanced Systems R&D Group and I run into dozens of guys that simply won't take the time to learn just a bit of electronics and LAN communications to help them figure this out. They show up in my driveway all the time because they won't buy a cheap scope and soldering iron. 99% of the time, as long as the Micro-Controller didn't get damaged, All of these modules can be fixed for a couple dollars and an hour of time. Best Wishes.

I subscribed just to comment. I’m having issues with communicatons on my 2006 Equinox. ABS/TSC lights. Also lose Electric Power Steering sometimes. I have a tool, like your Tech 2 tool, that reads like your video. Have similar error codes like this video. Watching you go through your video, and going step by step, makes an old car guy like me happy. Been working on cars all my life, and yours made looking for this issue… fun and endearing. Now I just need diagrams and pin outs like yours. Thanks for making this video!

I subscribed to your channel a bit late in life. I just want to say your videos, including this one, shows Excellent troubleshooting tutorial/ diagnosis and repairs. You did this demo Without a breakout box ect.. shows how important having the proper wiring schematics and knowledge of how these systems interact. Keep up the good work! Side note * this is an example of how important it is for semi introverted people to become instructors. No nonsense straight and to the task at hand. (Slow clap to standing ovation)

Great training! I, in no way am a mechanic and you made this extremely easy to a layman to understand with logical processes of elimination and even discovered a couple shortcuts doing so. My 2000 deville spitting out similar trouble codes brought me here after battery change. Great video and these scan tools I'm sure are leagues above my analog Klein multi meter. Good stuff

This was a great video for me Will. I'm researching a intermittent crank/no start on a 2006 Dodge Ram truck. One of the many codes say it has a "no comm" but this truck doesn't have a CAN Bus system (pins 6 and 14) that my Hantek scope can read so I have to find a new approach. This helps. I'm hoping to get up there and hang out with Keith for a few days hoping some of his brain cells will rub off on me. Nice job on the video too. It was easy to follow along.

I would have used a jump wire from module to class 2 connector while connector was disconnected to see if module problem, or other I\O , with other power connector connected. Powered. If power and I\O are on one connector , then i use jumpers. Bad-shorted I\O can pull a module down.

Nice find! Can I make a few suggestions? I use a DMM to pin 2 at the DLC. I use a BOB, but you said you didn't have that. What is that reading? Remove the splice pack and check the individual circuits. That would have taken you to JX306 and do the same. I'm not looking for any specific voltage, but I want to see activity. When you got to CK 1098 you would have seen the VCIM pulling Class 2 to ground. Make sense? Another tip you may, or may not find useful - on the Tech 2 the "left & right" arrow buttons take you up or down a full 'page'. It saves a little time instead of using the up & down buttons. Nicely done video!

Just went through this last week with a 98 Seville SLS. I just went through unplugging every module on the Class network until communication was restored. Found the VCIM as the culprit on that one as well. All modules aren't easy to get to so if it was a module that was in a difficult spot, this method would work best but I just got lucky I didn't have to go that far.
