I have seen where the harness gets pinched behind the Aftermarket radio and shorts the data wire to ground. Also on those old Impalas, the Airbag module under the passenger seat gets soaked with water and kills the bus. Great video!

I have a question Brian about testing through the splice connector. I don't get to see these here in Belgium. So I have no experience with it. If I understand this right you're just jumping pin 2 from DLC to the pcm because your scope is connected to your break out box. Without it you could just go straight to the pcm wire with your scope lead? I also saw a video from a while ago on trained by techs where Keith Perkins does the testing with a spliced together wiring harness and actually starts by adding the different modules one at a time to the network. Now he also mentions that the pcm and bcm provide a 7 volts bias so you have to start with one of them first before adding other modules. So this is where I get confused. If that's the case you can not jump the modules one at a time from DLC pin 2 (except pcm and bcm) or measure each wire individually at the splice connector. Is this correct?

In my experience you can add one module at a time, and I have just jumped individual modules one at a times and it has worked to check comm with the scan tool to say a air bag or theft module. I may be able to make a quick demonstration for you to show this. Thanks for watching!

I mentioned my confusion in a livestream yesterday and Keith DeFazio told me there is no 7 volt bias. So jumping the modules one at a time makes sense. Thank you Brian!

Brian,enjoying your networking videos. Following Maic Salazar who is giving a small on line course on what to look for and how to test PCM/ECM/TCM plus some repair and PCM schematic read outs. I have purchased some bread boards and components and hopefully get into creating some test gear. I've looked at arduano but really don't know where to start.Is there a beginning project to get some knowledge as to exactly what they are and which ones are suited for automotive. I apologize for the questions but if I get a good starting point I'm very capable at self learning. Been a mechanic my whole life just not on the advanced electronics end. I believe my 2007 3.5 odyssey has one under the hood but need to know more what I am looking for. Thanks

I will have to look into the splice pack on your Honda, more than likely just ties the network together. Arduino is cool. I use them for demonstrations at scope classes, put out square waves, multiple injector control circuits, I will send you a video. Also I am using a 555 timer / breadboard for pico mask video I am working on. If you can afford an arduino buy it, it will make you learn alot! What’s the fix if the aftermarket stereo is doing something to the class 2 network?

I'm just trying to get it to pass E-Check, but once the drive cycle is complete my security light keeps flashing in my information window and the radio won't come on, someone put an aftermarket radio in the vehicle and I believe that's what's causing the problem, it won't communicate with the E-Check kiosk computer, but my scan tool works. .no problem starting tho
