I've seen this being brought up a lot, so Sharks do not have any bones. They have a skeletal structure of sorts, but it is completely made up of cartilage. This is one of the factors that plays into making them buoyant. This cartilage is much lighter and softer than bones, but it can still fossilize. It functions as bones would but is still not considered bone. And in case this makes you wonder, yes, all whales have bones, but whale sharks do not, since they are a type of shark. -Some random person that studied marine science for a few years.
