Update to this: He was sentenced to 15 years in federal prison in August 2023 after pleading guilty. It also come out that he raped her multiple times, used Uber to try to buy plan B pregnancy-prevention pills for her, and imprisoned her in a small room with hardly any food or water for the 8 days she was missing. What a sick fucker. I wish he got at life sentence because now he’ll get out when he’s 38 :(

As a parent, I have been screaming from the rooftops about Roblox for over a year. The most common response I get from moms is “well nothings happened to my kid yet, I have parental controls on 🙄” completely ignoring all the info I’ve given about the parental controls not actually working by design, revealing ip adresses, the arrests. At worst, I’m called a liar and they stick their heads in the sand so they don’t have to google anything or do any homework. God forbid you have to interact with your child if they can’t play their game anymore. Letting your child play a game made by predators for predators and burying your head to all of it is wack. This hits home, but it is very good to hear that he was arrested, possibly for life. If Roblox cared about these situations, one of my friends could still be around today. My friend was a victim on the platform. (context) Allegations came up in 2020 of a former staff member for a game known as The Vibe Cafe, had a document made on them having exhaustive (but limited) evidence on someone who I believe was named Neimoru. Allegedly, it was a 15-19 relationship and the guy got away with allegedly grooming the child. Allegedly, the creator of the game, Bloxxek, had defended the staff member. No action was taken on Roblox's part to protect the victim or punish the predator. If the allegations are true, Landon is still out there because Roblox enables, and does nothing about predators on their own platform. They'd rather sue people like Ruben Sim.

My whole family was taught internet safety and we were able to use the internet fine. Its also important to teach them internet safety early on so when they get older and into their teens they know this information and can have their own personal devices such as a phone to contact their parents in case of emergencys. I agree that most parenting in the modern day relies too much on the internet and technology. I grew up in the early 2000's, so the internet was everywhere. Thankfully, my parents were amazing and they didn't allow me on the internet unless it was a website they approved of and i asked them first. They also didn't allow me to have a phone until i was around 15 or 16, which was definitely a good move. Even if the predator gave the kid the money to give to the Uber driver, surely having that much cash would be questionable for someone that young, along with the long Uber trip in the first place, right?

@@flarestorm9417 what in the god's name are you talking about? if the kid was paid by someone and that someone comes from the destination where the child's headed the driver maybe just think whoever they're to be their relatives. long trip could be a questionable but not enough evidence to raise a red flag. IDK how in the western works but here in Indonesia, picking up children from schools or other places and being paid by whoever is at the destination is pretty normal.

I rang the federal police , the cop said " mate do you know what chicken means ?" . My response " yes that's why I'm ringing you. There were predators setting up sex room dungeons to groom the kids online .

I was there at the beginning when roblox was a small company made by younger guys. It was small community made of aspiring game devs, luascripters, and the young kids like me who participated as testers. It was inventive, unique, grassroots and full of character and hard working, interesting people. This was 2007-2010.

The good thing after the lawsuit. Ruben's twitter now apparently is always being monitored by roblox admins everytime he posts. Which is why he's exposing anyone that break the rules and they get banned immediately. While the moderation in roblox is horrible alot people get banned unfairly by roblox admins or bad actor got ignored and spreads bad stuff like sex games.

I think the quote "the easy road often becomes hard, and the hard road often becomes easy" is very true for Roblox here. They tried to take the easy road, ignoring problems or their site and silencing those who talk about it, but this has lead to them getting a huge amount more backlash than if they just admitted to its faults and attempted to fix them.

As a roblox player who started in 2013 I can say that this platform has gone down in quality sense 2017. Underpaid devs, letting predators go unharmed, removing any sort of events and sales, and overall making it a corporate wasteland.

@@n646n Every year after 2007 of Roblox was considered the decline. People already said the site went downhill in 2008 after the 'Fleskhjerta' era of Roblox. The reason why 2013 is usually considered the decline of Roblox is because one of the co-founders of Roblox passed away from cancer. In my opinion 2013-2016 was the golden age of Roblox, despite people's nostalgia, 2012 was a dark year for the site. The games page was filled with misleading titles and the same Area 51 and build to survive games. And people Jared Valdez and Julius Coles were thriving from making god awful uncopylocked games. 2013 is when the admins finally got their shit together and started to improve the site while still keeping It's charm. 2017 was the year that lead to the decline of Roblox, It's when the site started to become a corporate hellscape, but it still had quality from the 2016 era, so it wasn't destroyed yet. 2018 is the true downfall though, the only good thing that came from 2018 was the Egg Hunt event. This was the year when the 'simulator craze' started and it would forever haunt the games quality of Roblox for the rest of eternity.
