really dig the aesthetic on these dudes. I'd characterize it as, if the original Robo Force figures were a 70's super robot anime, these new guys are the 90's OVA versions. I'm of two minds about the suction cup feet. One one hand, it's a very clever update of the gimmick, but like you said, for long term display (and durability) I'd like if there was an option to give them solid feet. They already have part swaps, so why not?
@ObsessiveGeek Жыл бұрын
I could see these getting a deluxe upgrade in the future though still pretty cool as is. Totally agree about the style choice, I totally dig it personally and I remember the original though was huge I to it, I definitely would have been if they looked like this.
@tycondrius23 Жыл бұрын
Also maybe the could of done swappable feet? As in regular feet and optional suction cup ones kinda like Mattel did with deluxe Leech and his hands
@t00lnin Жыл бұрын
I think the suction cups are attached to a ball join, so they can pivot a little bit.

What does the 89 reference? As kids I had Wrecker and my brother had Blazer. My cousins had Maxx, Blazer and S.O.T.A. and I want to say they had the Command Patroller, too, or at least someone I knew as a kid did.

I’m very tempted by these, I’ll have to take a look in person at the store. I’d love if they rereleased the originals though. I’d be all over those.

I was a little disappointed with the extra arms and bits that plug into these guys. Would have been really nice it they had some bendy wires or even just some swivel segments for the hoses on Maxx and a couple more points of articulation for Wrecker's extra arms (that would really help with keeping him balanced if you could angle them forward over his shoulders).

I do like the nods to the original toys in the designs of these guys. I'm not into the aesthetic, but they're still neat. They remind me of early NECA or McFarlane figures where they're more for display with a little bit of posing. More there to look good than to be played with. Not something I'll be getting myself, but Nacelle is definitely on my radar now to see what else they do action figure wise! Good review!

I got my two pack in from EE and they accidently sent me two wreckers, the problem is I like it so much I might just order two 89's to go with them, at what point is one just not enough haha

I like how the robots look. The suction cup feet are interesting, but I would like to have swappable feet so I could have a more stable action figure. At 8 inches it would be great to go with 4, 6, or 7 inch action figures I wonder how big the robots are supposed to be compared with a human being. I wonder if they could re-release the original versions of the characters. The robotic "cans" with arms look neat too.

Mine doesn’t stand very well at all with the suction cups. Definitely very frustrating to pose. You can easily pull the suction cups out and have a very nice figure without a obtrusive gimmick.
@himynameiswaylon Жыл бұрын
I pulled the suction cups out on mine as well. Not sure if they were designed to be removable, but there is no way I would trust it to stay on my shelf with them on.

@PiercedJedi Жыл бұрын
wow I had some of the originals, and even then thought they were a little lackluster, but these are a cool homage to them, I think the suction cups could have been hard feet that you could articulate and get into a good position... seems too wobbly for my shelves
@thirty3255 Жыл бұрын
They are super wobbly, And even if you get him pose correctly if you walk by the shelf or whatever and cause him to wobble he will lose his balance and fall.
@PiercedJedi Жыл бұрын
@@thirty3255 see that's what I would worry about... I think suction-cup shaped articulted feet would be better, but some people might really like these, and maybe kids will like them

Not bad. As a robot, it could use a little more build features like Centurions.
@beltfed4624 Жыл бұрын
Some collectors might not like the "update" to reissued action figures, but I prefer it. Even as a child (3,000 years ago) I knew the action figures were just barely passable as replicas of the character. Articulation sucked, quality control was very openminded, etc... I remember my MOTU figures couldn't stand on their own, my 'Joes broke so often they were mostly superglue, and the details were so vague you really had to use your imagination. 🤣 Still, I loved my toys and had a great deal of fun, but after I grew up I just couldn't enjoy the vintage look. But over the past few years, a lot of great vintage cartoons and movies have gotten updated versions of the classics, with great details, articulation and accessories. I had Frank Frazetta artbooks as a kid (D&D early days) and I really wanted highly detailed action figures, but they just weren't, but now they look incredible. Great video, those are super cool! 👍🏻👍🏻

I had Max and Blazer from the original line as a kid. It's a neat concept trying to modernize these but I kind of hope they do a line of re-releases of the ideal versions if they have the rights to it. That line had a cutesy super deformed aspect to it I think might do well with both geezers and kids alike.

On second thought it's OK. I think they're doing something similar to Valaverse with Action Force. I think the toys themselves are all right. A little concerned with those suction cups.

Suction cups kill these figures. Even with a flate surface they will eventually just fall over. They should have included swappable feet at the least.

These guys have a ton more going for them than the originals. As much as I love the basic 80's robot "Dalek" design these are much more suped up/upgraded to have that 80's/90's OVA type look a lot of retro animations had for a more edgy style. Like the original could wiggle its arms around? Big deal...is that really what you feel like you're missing out on here?¿ 😆
@Rocket1377 Жыл бұрын
@ObsessiveGeek: All R2-D2 could do was turn his head and move his legs. Should we turn him into a bipedal robot too? 😒 The aesthetic and appeal of Robo-Force lay with its simple Dalek-esque designs, and by changing that, it may as well be a completely new franchise. There was no need to alter their basic non-humanoid concept to make RoboForce cooler and increase the play value, they simply could have added lots of gimmicks and action features, like R2-D2 has. Give them more hidden weapons, and perhaps a part swapping feature to let us customize our own robots.
@ObsessiveGeek Жыл бұрын
@Rocket1377 You need to rewatch the franchise if you think that's all he can do (plenty of figures with all the extra accessories too). Obviously they decided to update the concept, the thing is with this being a upcoming show too more versions of the original design will very likely be available again so I see it as a win-win. Though I much prefer these chuncky mechs over the dustbin with wobbly arms
