RoboCop (Joel Kinnaman) begins to short circuit when his emotions conflict with his programming.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
A powerful multinational conglomerate attempts to bring robotic law enforcement to the United States by transforming a critically injured police officer into a cyborg cop in this remake of the subversive 1987 sci-fi classic. The year is 2028. For a long time, cutting-edge robotics company OmniCorp has been supplying the U.S. military with drones for use overseas, though their repeated attempts to bring the technology stateside has met with fierce resistance. When devoted family man and upstanding Detroit policeman Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman) is grievously wounded in the line of duty, OmniCorp CEO Raymond Sellars (Michael Keaton) attempts to innovate by recruiting top scientist Dennett Norton (Gary Oldman) to transform Murphy into a prototype half-man/half-robot crime-fighter. they could still have done the database in stages. do a hundred potential suspects one day then another day another hundred. let his brain get used to the horrors of the crime database files. plus its not like his suspect search routine could access data remotely if needed.

This is an example of a reboot that got a really bad rap because its a reboot. Of course it isn't as good as the original, but it still did a lot of clever scenes that ran with the concept, like this one and the scene where he first sees himself

Say what you will about this movie, it did something NO other iteration of Robocop managed to do. Humanize and generate empathy for the lead scientist of the project that butchered Murphy. Hell, by the end I respected his character.

Just rewatched this today with my partner, and we had a little natter about the fact this version of Robocop isnt a satire, its a horror about someone being turned into a machine in every sense of the word. But we both agree that the humanization of at least one scientist is great, and we kinda wish that this was in the og film in someone. Just one lilttle whisper of empathy in the corporate machine would've been great

Despite what people think, i think this movie is not that bad , what i like is that at least he got to have his family again unlike in the original , the OCP made him like a total machine and when murphy confronted by his wife he told her that he is no longer murphy

because he was't. a deleted scene in robocop 2 confirmed what was hinted in robocop 1. that the face of alex murphey was a rubber mask or a robotic skeleton that just housed the brain of alex murphy. alex murphy was dead his body just animated by tech.

toomanyaccounts No, it's because Robocop 2 sucks ass. Despite this, it is made very clear in Robocop 2 that he DOES start to remember his wife - he even kind of stalks her. He decides that it's best if she thinks he is not her husband anymore. Also in the first Robocop, he states "I can feel them, but I can't remember them." Besides: Deletes scenes are deleted scenes for a reason and thus not canon.

@@Winnetou64 deleted scenes are deleted to save time for the film. A few minutes of screen time is a lot in a film. Also deleted scenes are more to do with lore and storytelling than anything else

@@soulessification Not necessarily. Look at the deleted Professor-Hulk scene from Avengers Infinity War for example. If that scene where to be cannon it would contradict the Hulk's story from Avengers Endgame. Scenes can be deleted for multiple reasons. To save time is just one reason. Others might be: because they don't feel right in terms of story telling or pacing or because there's an alternate, different version of the same scene that ended up in the movie and so on.

it is actually pretty insteresting how narcotics would work for Robocop as from what i understand he is just brain and lungs? So f/e his blood pressure is regulated by program, not his brain functions so a lot of narcotics could not alter this thing and thus reduce the effects (less blood pomped to head)
