If the movie was given a bigger budget than $13 million, they could’ve gone for at least three days of fleshing out the partnership between Murphy and Lewis. Because if you’ve never watched any trailers or read the plot premise, off the bat between the two of them it would look like an average run-of-the-mill Buddy Cop movie that has a certain charm to it. @@caza728 Weller speaks over the dispatch operators line about how long back up will take to arrive (estimated time anyway). I've tried and tried to hear how many minutes she says, but I'm still not sure. I think she says 10 minutes. I think there's a dynamic going on between Murphy and Lewis. Lewis thinks of herself as 'tough'. Murphy seems like he's trying to make an impression on his first day and earn her respect. He says it's her call and she says they'll go in. Obviously, they could have pulled back enough to keep an eye on the van and wait for backup. Boddicker and his gang aren't going anywhere. They are lying low for a while. Lewis' decision to go into the steel mill may be one part of why she feels responsibility for Murphy's death. The other clearly being that she got blind-sided. If she hadn't then she probably would have been outflanked with Murphy and both of them murdered.

Nay mate, look at the barrel and ironsights, that's like an m4 or m16. 3:13
@stang57557 жыл бұрын
Well, given it's position in the car it certainly isn't a full-length AR variant. It could be a carbine, but certainly not an M4 as those didn't exist yet. That said, the barrel doesn't match that of an AR at all, and indeed that's most of the indication there - The barrel is simply too fat and smooth for any typical AR barrel (though typical for a shotgun, of course); it should be thinner and have some kind of flash hider/muzzle brake at the end. Even if the flash hider were removed, the barrel would still (in addition to being thinner) have a slightly recessed threaded end where said flash hider screws on, not again smooth and 'bull' as it is here. It could be, say, a moderator as seen on some older (period) AR carbines, but again, it's totally smooth - there's no flash vents. There are of course 'match target' variants that do have plain barrels without flash vents, but even they aren't totally smooth the whole way; they've a slightly recessed crown at the end - Furthermore they generally weren't around at this time either (they mainly came about later as a result of various 'feature focused' AWBs). That said, what I think you're taking as the front sight is actually the latch holding the gun itself (I mistook this the same for a while myself). It doesn't have anything like the triangular shape of a standard AR sight, and if you look close it appears to go a bit past the gun and around the barrel - It can be better seen on an HD shot (check here - www.imfdb.org/images/b/b1/Robo_602.jpg). One thing you will notice if you look close is the bit of rounded piece just past the foregrip, this doesn't look right for an AR, but does look like the end of a magazine tube on a shotgun (particularly a Remington 870) being viewed from the bottom. I'm a gun nerd who IDs firearms in films as a hobby, been doing it for several years. That and this is my personal number one film so I've watched practically every inch of it. Just sayin' I have an idea what I'm talking about. I had thought the same as you for a bit, but after some scrutinizing this is indeed a shotgun and not an AR carbine as I myself once thought. The mag tube-endcap closest matches a Remington 870 as I mentioned - I'd say this is actually one of the folding-stock pistol-gripped 870s from one of Clarence's crew just being re-used here. Now if you really want to press the issue I could probably check with the armorer who worked on the film himself, though. And if I'm wrong I'll be the first to admit it. But let's just say I very much doubt that to be the case.
@jonmar46837 жыл бұрын
I imagine that dual welding two glocks would be a better choice for handling ability than having the AR cumbersome stock and overall length from getting out of the window. Could have been used after the window broke apart but it was kinda too late at this point as Bodicker gang's got away.
@stang57557 жыл бұрын
He used a SIG-Sauer P226 and a H&K P9S, but as for your point, there is that to consider as well - The two pistols would be less unwieldy than even a shorter AR carbine. Not by a lot, but still. Of course there are the kind of cinema factors to consider (looks badass, throwback to a western gunfighter using two revolvers, and so on).

I don't know why people think peter weller is so good here. Personally he's really bad in these scenes. He sounds so wooden like a robot and it really drags down the film. When he shows his human side, it just doesn't feel right cause he to me always sounds like a robot. Now when he becomes robo cop, that's when his performance becomes great because he's born to play robo cop. But here....ever since I saw the film, i couldn't get into his character. Idk maybe it's just me.

I can get where you're coming from, and it's valid criticism indeed. But for me, at least, that makes it more endearing. The big question regarding the films was: "how much of Murphy, if anything at all, remains; and how much is just a machine?" The fact that he comes across as a stoic, wooden, down-to-earth person before he's a cyborg makes the human/machine line that much more blurred. So instead of us getting a bipolar character that makes clear jumps between man and machine, we get one that encourages us to think about which of those is in command during any particular moment.
