Excellent tutorial! I purchased this item on Amazon for the purpose of opening a door latch with a 3-second 12v pulse once every 24 hours. From your description either P5 or P6 will do this after an initial trigger using 1440 minutes as my loop time. Please tell me I'm correct. The purpose for this is to open the door on my chicken coop every morning at 8AM... Thanks!

Brilliant explanation, would have not worked it out myself from the descriptions in the product. Thanks heaps, an excellent video. I am using this for a model tram shuttle (automatic back and forth) via a DPDT relay to reverse the current (change tram direction). Found a problem that the screen went blank (still lit but no characters - not sleep) after the first relay switch, although the system worked OK running the reverse current circuit. A) read the manual, in a shared power supply, the load MUST be on the negative side - not the positive side. B) always place a diode across the power /activation 'coil' circuit of the relay (the correct polarity of course). Problem fixed.

I have a deer feeder. This consists of a feed bin and an electric motor-generated feed disperser. The unit is powered by a solar panel. A "Moultrie timer" is introduced into the circuit, allowing programmable feed duration and timing intervals. This timer is unfortunately limited to feed intervals in whole seconds. I want to refine feeding intervals to fractions of a second, and I stumbled upon the XY-LJ02 as a solution. I tested the device (with an on/off switch in place of the timer), setting it to P4 mode and a CL of 0.5 seconds then OP of 2.0 seconds and then turn off. On the bench it energized the load as intended. But when I took the prewired device to the actual feeder, it didn't work! I'm concerned the problem is with my pre-wiring of the XY-LJ02. You mentioned in this tutorial changing the wiring on the left side of the device in the event of using an "external source" in lieu of a push button switch. I did not understand this explanation, it went too quick for me. HOW WOULD YOU WIRE THE XY-LJ02 FOR THIS FEEDER? Stephen Hansen

Is there a way to program it so that it only counts down if the trigger is pushed? If the trigger is released I want the count down to stop. In P4. I’m using this to close a door. Once the door is full open it pushes and holds the trigger. It will count down to activate relay to close the door. If someone closes the door early the door will open at the end of count down and start the cycle over.

Thank you for the detailed explanation! This helped me better understand how to work the one I bought. I specifically purchased mine as an external watchdog timer for my home automation and security DVR computer. The intent was to have my HomeSeer controlled Arduino send a pulse to this timing module to keep resetting the clock. If it didn't reset (PC locked up) the relay would engage the PC reset switch. Unfortunately I can only configure this module to work the opposite. Using P7 the relay is always engaged and if the input is triggered (pulse from Arduino) before CL timeout then the relay will stay engaged. If PC locks up and and stops triggering the Arduino then CL will timeout and cause the relay to disengage, which could trigger the PC reset switch. Ideally I do not want the relay engaged 99% of the time. Instead I would like to keep the relay off with ongoing trigger timer resets and if there is not a reset (PC locked up) then engage the relay for 1 sec to reset PC. I have tried every combination I can think of with this module but don't think it is possible. Did I miss a setting? Do you have any other suggestions? Thanks in advance for any help.

@AmericaAndAllies3 ай бұрын
For mode P6, there is no trigger. If you apply power to the timer board, it will act as you described, one time. The only way to cycle again in this mode is to remove power and re-apply power and it will run the P6 mode again automatically, one more time. If you set the loop count to '----' that is infinite count, and it will repeat the cycle over and over until you remove power.

@@robojax I watched your video twice and I'm confused. Does this timer relay convert momentary to latch? I will not be connecting a constant power supply to this device. It will get a power trigger which is momentary. It will be a looping source until I manually shut it off. It is DC 12v. When I move my switch to on it will create a looping momentary power trigger every 2 seconds. In other words it is on-off-on-off and so on. I read that a timer relay can turn momentary power to latching until the trigger is removed. Where in your video covers this? Thankyou

Great Video. I want to build an auto garage door closer as we keep coming home and finding the door wide open. The problem is that every time the door motor receives a signal it will stop, and on the next signal reverse. This means we need a loop and then stop the loop once it actually closes. So I need to be able to have a delay of a few minutes once the reed switch activates, run a one second signal (to activate the door) and close it. Wait a minute to give it time to close, then if the reed switch remains open close the relay again for one second so the door activates again. This covers all options and the door will defiantly close. If we just have one signal then we might just end up opening it all the way when myself and the girlfriend both push the buttons when we leave.I am thinking P5 will do this.

My wiring is the same as in your video - high trigger. Do you think I have a bad device? What power source did you use in this video when walking through the programs?

Hi, I have shown it. it can work with 6 to 24V. I don't remember anything. I have to watch to answer, so you watch it.

Has anyone tried to determine what the 5 pins to the right of the serial port pins are? I think that two of them, GND and 5V are wired to the USB connector, one is a 'disable' line (5v weak pull-up), and the other two pins remain a mystery. If you disable by pulling 'disable' to ground, then release, the display will restart but a button press is required to resume operation. That would be like tapping stop when it is running. Perhaps timing is necessary to control enable/disable. I am not sure. If anyone has experience using the serial lines, observations would be appreciated.

Those are for the manufacturer to upload the firmware. Not for the user.

@@robojax Thank you for investigating. I did suspect that was the purpose of those pins. Do you mind if I ask you how you obtained the info? Also, I am correct that the 5V and GND pins are directly wired to the USB? This is important for me to know as I am connecting the XY-LJ02 to a PCB board for the power supply rather than using the USB. Thanks again!

@@robojax Sorry to pester you with questions, can you tell me if the serial data lines are 5V or 3.3V? I would guess 5V? Thanks!

i don't have the board in hand. it is simply, turn it ON, connect the multimeter and check the voltage. or use continuity tester to see which pin is connected to GND and which is connected on power supply.

@@robojax I am pretty confident that I have PWR and GND, was just looking for a verification. Thanks.

Hi, you are welcome. I don't have the module test it now. I don't know where I put it. But Remember you can connect your load or bulb to the Common and NC (normally close). I have shown it with Common and NO (normally Open), if you connect to Common and NC, the operation will be the opposite. Meaning if the module was turning something ON from OFF state, it will turn something OFF from ON state.

I bought 4 of these and after 4 hours i figured out how P6 worked and how to change the decimal. Also i found if LP IS LP 0000 MEANS CONTINUOUS CYCLES. Is there an instruction sheet that i can down load for this timer? If so where? Also how can i program this timer using USB and what application do i use and what baud rate?

Great tutorial - And you have done that again! :) I just ordered my XY-LJ02 Relay Module from AliExpress. The main thing that i wanted to try is the Serial Commands using Rx and Tx - Since I am planning to set the relay far from the MCU and I don't want to set a new program from the module all the time - I want to be able to set the program itself and also If I should use a loop then gfive a count for it and set On and Off time for each one of the 7 Programs - and all of this I want to see how it can be done from the Rx and Tx - assuming that I will connect it directly to my MCU Rx and Tx as well. I can also be able to set more then one board from the Arduino (or any other MCU I choose) using a different pin-set for each one - i will need to set another Rx and Tx on the Arduino, I am not sure how But this is also something I am looking forward to test Maybe using the Software serial that way I can use more then one set of Rx and Tx Communications . GREAT JOB!!! thank You.

Thank you. If I saw people show interest in this module and if time permits, I will make video on that. I have 100s of other projects on my list but I am busy with full time job at a university and part time graduate studies and my family. So I have very tight schedule. Wish me luck.

@@robojax Good Luck!! :) Yes I know how it is!! same situation here. I hope you will have the time for the Serial as well - I will give it a go when the board comes. I think that it could be done and that would be great to be able to control the Relay behavior remotely.
