My favourite part of the game is that human enemies react logically to guns. You can find at least one gun before ammo becomes relatively common, so why keep it if you havent got ammo? You can hold up bandits with it because they dont know its empty. The game never explicitly states this, give it a try when a drop lands and bandits get there first (if they dont have a gun)

I never understood the criticism for Dying Light's story. I guess maybe because I didn't rush through it? The world you're in is so well developed that the story feels weirdly natural. I always did all available side quests before continuing, I explored a ton, so that probably helped with the pacing. Maybe it was a bit cliche, but I really thought it was well done, especially compared to the sequel. One of the main reasons I like DL so much is because of the story, lol. The best thing for the story and overall lore wasn't the main missions and main story, it was actually the side missions. It really made the world of Dying Light feel like an actual, lived in place, with real people that felt genuinely human in their actions and motivations and did a better job at telling the story than the main missions. The main missions are like a monorail you take to reach the end of the game, the side missions are like the many exhibits you stop to gander at on the way there with so many rich, detailed, cultured tidbits that add so much to the experience. And that in itself is an achievement: making mostly enjoyable side missions that don't just feel like a chore to slog through and also expand upon the world you're in in ways the main story couldn't even with unlimited exposition dumps.

@@robokast Dude, you gotta do more research. Sure, you can talk authoritatively to someone who has never played before, but you forgot that dropkick was part of the agility tree, and didn't even know that the capstone for agility is infinite stamina. Did you even finish the game? Either way, it's clear you never played it before doing a few hours on normal to make this video with a couple of hours in the following at most. The first DLC was the Bozak Horde and it was bad. It adds the bow, which is strong and was the first (and for a long time, only) way to score reliable kills from a distance. The challenges themselves were mediocre. There was also a season's pass for the game, something you said you are against. Another huge thing you missed is that zombies and the weapons you collect scale with your survivor rank, not story progression or power. Your damage is tied to the survivor tree, not the power tree. Also, you clearly never unlocked camouflage. As for the story, you obviously didn't pay attention. The reason it's bad is pretty much just the voice acting and the clichés. Camden tells you who Rais is. He's a former GRE bodyguard who went insane after the death of his brother. Imagine not knowing that the GRE is supposed to be a charity, that the reason they want the file is because someone who doesn't want them to have it has it, and the reason they don't want it on the internet is because it's about how they are immoral bastards. Long story short, I can't trust any review you give because if this is the level of detail you're going into for a game you profess to love, I can only imagine the 2 minutes of research you would do for a game you don't care about.

3:45 The point of sending Crane in for the file is that the GRE doesn't want it uploaded anywhere. They send Crane in to make sure it's destroyed before anyone could find it and make it public. The catch is that Reis is holding onto it for bargaining (later he releases it). I personally think the Lore behind Dying Light's story is cool. Exspecially the parts outside of Harran. How there are conflicts outside of harran too about the issue and parts of the media wants to make it seem like there are no survivors in there so the government can carpet bomb the place to make sure the virus never gets out. The problem with the story was the delivery. The story and lore is there. It is interesting. I'd say it even has more layers to it than the last of us had. The difference is that Dying Light's writing just didn't deliver it properly, while the Last of Us pulled an insanely well executed delivery and made the characters feel human.

It's later revealed that the file is not an incomplete cure, but rather, dirt on the GRE that could incriminate and destroy them. So its not so much that you know nothing about it for most of the game, but rather that you don't know what it actually is for most of the game, just what the GRE told you. -As for why they dont just transmit it to the outside world, its clearly stated that it's in the possession of Kadir Suleiman, or Rais, aka the literal main antagonist of the game, and is acting as his bargaining chip with the GRE, after a certain incident which he holds the GRE responsible for. It's also stated that he instructed someone to publicize it when he gave the word, And, considering what that file actually is, the GRE can't have that happen, so they jam comms to the outside world so they can be sure it doesn't get publicized. they send you to physically retrieve it, because its the only way to get it back without risking the complete destruction of the GRE. Yeah, the actual story is kinda meh, or decent at best, (i personally think its great but to each their own) but to say that it doesn't explain everything (at least everything important) is blatantly incorrect But other than that, great video, the gameplay and mechanics of Dying Light are absolutely amazing

On the topic of Rais and killing his own guards instead of you, I love that that even happened in the first place because it shows advanced character traits from the writers of the game. The man knows that if captured you're definitely going to want to fight back, especially when threatened, so he doesn't blame YOU for letting you get a hit in on him, he blames his TWO GUARDS that were pathetic enough to allow you to break free. If two men can't hold one man down properly like that then they shouldn't be allowed to live and repeat the same mistakes. I am honestly so proud of everything that Techland and WB Interactive have accomplished with Dying Light. You can show this video game to any type of gamer; and I DO mean ANY type, from fans of mainstream to fans of lesser known indie titles; and ALL of them will find SOMETHING to enjoy in this game. Hell, Dying Light came out when I was still in high school, but now after well over half a decade has passed, I now substitute classrooms filled with kids excitingly talking with each other about what they’re gonna do on Dying Light with their friends the same way most kids talk about Fortnite and Minecraft. It really amazes me that even now, LONG after the Zombie Pop Culture phase has quietly exited from the mainstream, Dying Light STILL has a thriving player base that still continues to grow.

Vigorously followed the development and saw the game evolve to release. I remember the panic when my gamestop dude said they canceled it on 360 and ps3 and how I cut everyone's grass and cleaned houses just to get an Xbox one 2 days before release. I remember the lackluster response from the community at first whole I sat there glued to the screen, addicted to the game. I remember when the following changed the course of the games history and shot it onto legendary status to everyone else. I remember dying light. It is a masterpiece and gladly sits on my number 3 game of all time. I genuinely can't wait for dying light 2.

They do explain what’s in the file, and they explain why it can’t just be sent. Please do an in-depth analysis of the story before mocking it. The reason why they need it recovered is because it’s on a flash drive that the main bad guy has, and not publicly available. They tell you that the file is an incomplete version of the cure that is lethal in its current state (which is a lie). My guy this is stated in the intro to the game for Christ sake.
@dulizardglasses31703 жыл бұрын
“They don’t explain what it is or what it does” in the first 30 minutes of the game they tell you that the file is an incomplete version of a cure and why they don’t want it to be uploaded is because in its current state the cure is lethal, but that is bull crap as you find out later in the story
@hd57832 жыл бұрын
To understand the story you have to get into the lore a bit, the reason Amir saved Kyle at the beginning was because Amir was also a GRE agent, and was likely aware of his arrival. The virus was made as a bio weapon by the US government and GRE together, that’s why the “ministry” tried to blow up harran. The file was also evidence of the virus being a weapon, you can probably fit the pieces together, I don’t remember most of the lore since it’s been a few years since I’ve geeked out about the game

I honestly don`t understand how anyone thinks the story is weak. I personally enjoyed it a lot and thought it was pretty good despite being a little cliche.
@carlosguzman100410003 жыл бұрын
oh man, this game is truly different. Apart from the things you mentioned I really enjoyed how the main character actually had a voice and personality. I'm currently playing far cry 5 and the character you play as is completely silent. Not only does this make every cut scene of NPC interaction awkward and janky as fuck but it also makes the story way worse because your character does not respond to all the events happening. I think most silent protagonists are just lazy developers not wanting to actually spend the time to create an interesting character. Kyle Crane is one of my favorite video game characters of all time just because of his personality, at first, I found him to be kind of a jerk but then he really grew on me, and him reacting to all the crazy shit happening around him echoed really made him feel like a real person. I also really liked the story, I thought everything made sense and there were no glaring plot holes. It also didn't have multiple endings (except for The Following which had two endings but they were well-executed) which I think helped them make a better story that is more akin to watching a well-produced movie than doing one of those lame as fuck choose your own adventure books. The voice actors were fine IMO, they do sound weird sometimes but I just thought of it as English being their second language since the game does take place in Turkey I think so they are bound to have an accent and different ways of speaking English. I also liked how you could unlock all of the skills and use them all at the same time. I personally hate when games make you choose between different skills because it is impossible to balance them all so you just end up choosing the same skills every time because they are the best and you never get to experience all the other skills. Overall I think Techland really understands what makes a game enjoyable, no multiple dialogue choices that don't affect anything, no more multiple endings that are all garbage and don't really make sense, no complicated skill tree, and a nicely passed story in which you always have a sense of purpose. All these features coupled with amazing gameplay make me think that this game is in the top 3 best zombie games of all time. Hopefully, DL2 can take what made DL1 so enjoyable and unique and build upon it. I have faith in you Techland.

The side quests and little story bits hidden in buildings and in between them can be soooooo dark and heart felt. Many of them hit ya in the heart, like the painted message on the roof from a mother begging for help for her baby. The main story was weak for the last 60% of it. The build up where you're helping the tower was the best part and the shortest. As I said, favorite part is navigating the streets finding little hidden gems the devs put into the world. The side quests are almost all A+ on the story and gameplay though, which is odd compared to the main story. Overall, replaying it right now and enjoying the zombie head smashing as always!

Dying light will always be the best zombie game ever. Not because it's just a good game but the idea behind it is genius. Zombies are covering the ground so you learn to climb up and RUN, and I've seen some parkour experts in this world do insane things so learning parkour in a zombie apocalypse was one of the greatest ideas ever not just for gaming but overall. Imagine if all walking Dead characters knew a lot more parkour and free running skills and also knew how to combine combat with those skills, zombies would be zero threat.

(STORY SPOILERS!!) Ngl, I thought the story was fantastic. The acting that went into these characters were great. Especially roger Craig smith (Kyle Crane) and Matthew wolf (Harris Brecken) put in a lot of work into their lines. Like, the pact with rais mission where brecken contacts crane about a turning on the 18th floor. The emotion matthew put into his lines when he finds out rahim went to blow up the nest. The emotion roger put into his lines when Rahim turns, is phenomenal! And the part where crane sets up a jammer into the radio tower to get in touch to the outside world, is great! The story and characters aren’t as bad as everyone says it is.
