Very interesting robot, looks good for people that don’t want to spend an arm and a leg on a more expensive model. I know some people will appreciate saving a few dollars if they don’t want or use the mopping system. Having used the E4 I found the dual gyro navigation to do pretty well. As long as you don’t physically move the robot it should reliably clean all the areas and return to the dock. So in the beginning of your video you showed the little dome. That called an RCON sensor used to help the robot find it docking station 360 degrees. The Lidar models don’t have this since it has the 360 degree scanning laser. iRobot been using this sensor in their models. Keep up the good work!!!

Interesting. What is the front sensor below that for? That black strip across the front?

@@jamie.andrews So those are the infrared sensors, used to slow the robot down when about to hit an object. They can also be used to help dock as well. If the robot isn’t facing the dock it may miss it, so the RCON sensor helps. In iRobot case helps with the light house, aka virtual boundaries

The models with Lidar have the sensor on the front bumper of the robot used to help it line up with the dock. The lidar gets them close and the ir sensor docks it. This is my first non lidar based vacuum. I'm running it now. Thanks for your support!

While I have not tested this yet they are very different in price and features. If you do not need room cleaning or no-go zones this should be fine.

Biggest difference between S7 and E5 is sensing. S7 lidar - E5 random paths.
