Hi! I appreciate your reviews a lot! I consider buying s6max or s5max so I wonder which model you would recommend for 3 floors house, both vacuuming and mopping needed. The biggest difference is in price so is s6max worth the money?
@ModernCastle4 жыл бұрын
Both the S6 MaxV and S5 Max would do really well. Both have multi floor mapping, both vacuum and mop, and both have a long run time. If money is no object, I would go with the S6 MaxV. The improved obstacle detection is a nice add vs. the S5 Max, which doesn't have that feature. Beyond that, they are pretty similar.

Is there any chance that the inside of the water tank gets biofilm and slimy? Should i empty and dry out the water tank regulary?
@ModernCastle2 жыл бұрын
Depends on the water that you're putting in the tank, but in general, no. In any case, the tank is washable. So it's a good idea to wash it out with a little bleach or white vinegar then let it fully dry.

I have an S5max an S4 and S6. you said the S4 is the same thing as the S6 but without the mop... this is NOT true. The S6 is quieter, runs for longer and is able to get up on nearly twice the thickness of rugs than the S4. I got my S4 because I thought exactly as you said, they were the same thing but one mops... They are not. S4 can't handle the carpets and doesn't clean up as well as the S6. S5 is almost as good as S6 but not as smart and bumbles around a bit more.
@ModernCastle4 жыл бұрын
I am sorry you feel that way. And I am sorry if our review failed to capture the the features that were more important to you. To clarify some of this information in case others are looking for it. Yes, the S6 is indeed quieter than the S4. According to the specs, Roborock S6 is 67 dB, S4 is 68 dB. Regarding your comments around run time, I am not sure why you are seeing such a huge difference in run time. Both S6 and S4 are spec'd to run for 150 minutes. As far as the S4's ability to clean carpets, I am surprised at your feedback. We conducted 8 different carpet tests on both the S4 and S6. In our tests the S4 was as good or better than the S6 in every test, and the S4 was significantly better at removing the smallest debris from high pile carpets.

@@ModernCastle It turns out the issue isn't the thickness of the rug it's the pattern on the rug!!! Apparently Roborock is well aware that these machines cannot be used on rugs with dark and light contrasting patterns. It wasn't having issues with the rug being thicker, the cliff sensor is a cheap light sensor and not sonar so it thinks the light and dark patterns are cliffs! Roborock has been told about this 2 years ago and still not fixed the issue. They tell you to put tape over the sensor... a six hundred dollar vacuum that has to be rigged with TAPE? LMAO these machines are a joke! Roborock don't care, they offer no solution other than tape, no software upgrade that lets you simply turn off the sensor... Nah Roborock are too busy making cordless vacuums and new robot vacs that also don't work on rugs with patterns on them. I'll never buy anything from them again simply because they are deceptive about the problem and still offer no solution to their customers... they have a 'take the money and run' attitude.

Currently in the process of moving in to our first house, and are looking into getting a robot vacuum to deal with lots of dog hair (we have two Pugs that are constantly molting) across both carpet and laminate floors? Any suggestions as to which Roborock would deal with this the best?
@ModernCastle4 жыл бұрын
Since you have laminate you should get a Roborock that both mops and vacuums, so that really just eliminates the S4. All Roborock's are solid, but they do get better as you spend more money. So the "best" is going to be the most expensive S6 MaxV amzn.to/3dLmtLI. If you've got the budget for it, get the MaxV. If you need to save money get the S5. amzn.to/2GfU2Gl If you want something in the middle get the S5 Max amzn.to/357YX7z (I prefer that over a straight S6 or S6 Pure, due to the larger water tank).

For a multi floor configuration, does it required the robot to be connected to the same wifi network ? If it is the case How to have the same wifi network in a three floors house ?
@ModernCastle4 жыл бұрын
Yes, you would need to have the same wifi available. Easiest way would be to use multiple access points (see here amzn.to/2WPWr3Q) on the various floors so you can have universal wifi coverage. Each access point would broadcast the same wifi SSID that the Roborock is looking for.

I'm so annoyed as I just ordered the S5 max in white, then the S6 Max V comes along a week later! 😬😏🤦♀️🤷♀️ Its it much better than the S5 max, i don't know what to do now! The pooh feature is that a gimmick? What if the pooh was half the size? 🤣 my kids leave stuff lying around, would it detect a piece of lego? And is the suction noticeably stronger? And is the mopping better? The link you supplied doesn't let you buy one. Do you know how much more expensive they are than the X5 max and when they will come to Australia? Regards Melissa.
@ModernCastle4 жыл бұрын
Is the S6 MaxV better? Yes...but not massively. In my view, the S5 Max is the 2nd best robot Roborock makes (even better than the S6, based on our performance tests). If I were you, I wouldn't worry about the MaxV. Yeah, it's great, but the only major difference is the obstacle detection. Suction performance is better, but cleaning performance didn't change vs. the S5 Max. Mopping is basically the same. S6 MaxV won't be available for purchase until June. I believe the MaxV is supposed to be $750 in the US...not sure what that will be in the AU.

@@ModernCastle So the overall clean was exactly the same? Does the S5 max get stuck on a lot of Things? Having 4 boys, three which are young and leave stuff everywhere I thought the 6Max V would be better suited as well as having a dog. I do run around and clean up etc but there's always a last minute things they've left on the floor. So if I have cords near my bed can I select that as a no go zone? I tuck them in under but sometimes it might pick them up. 🥴 Does the s5 Max still have enough power in the vacuum to leave clean suction lines in the carpet so it looks vaccumed or will you only get that with the 6Max V?
@Gearz864 жыл бұрын
I’ve read everywhere that the S4 can’t handle high pile carpet but you’ve got it doing the best. I don’t get it.
@ModernCastle4 жыл бұрын
I can't speak for those reviews, but certainly in our tests it performed extremely well. I will say, as part of our testing process we always test on whatever the highest suction power available is. If those other reviewers let the S4 stay on auto mode then the performance would certainly be worse. But manually forcing it into MAX mode notably improves cleaning performance.

@@BlueJ502 We haven't tested tested either Ozmo or the T8 Aivi. Regarding the T8 Aivi (amzn.to/33RrTTe), from what I've read and watched about it, it looks pretty impressive. Certainly best when you add the new self empty bin, though the price does get up there when you do so. Regarding the Roomba i7+ (amzn.to/3iSgcjt), overall an excellent vacuum. Navigation is top notch, though not quite to the level of the S6 MaxV. What it lacks in navigation it makes up for in carpet cleaning performance. If you have mostly carpets, especially high pile carpets, the i7+ is likely the best pick. Regarding the Roborock S6 MaxV (amzn.to/2SPuAhO), thus far, this is the best navigating robot we've seen to date. It does a fantastic job of working itself through even complex home layouts. The ability to both vacuum and mop at the same time is a big plus. If you have mostly hard surface flooring the S6 MaxV would be my pick.
@ModernCastle3 жыл бұрын
@@BlueJ502 S6 MaxV does not have a self empty (and there's no optional addon). If you have all hard floors I think the S6 MaxV is the obvious choice. Yes, you'll need to empty the dust bin, but the ability to both mop and vacuum at the same time cannot be understated. The mopping function on the MaxV will do as much cleaning as the vacuum does. If you absolutely have to have the self empty dust bin then I would opt for the Roomba i7+.

i dont understand how the s4 beats its higher models in cleaning.
@ModernCastle4 жыл бұрын
Agreed, it still doesn't really make sense to me. Nevertheless, in our tests the S4 absolutely beat the others by simply removing more of the debris. Most notably, it seemed to do better at removing sugar from high pile carpets than any other Roborock vacuum (and many others). But you're right, it really doesn't make sense. The S4's performance isn't supposed to be better than the higher end models. Perhaps I will re-test our S4 findings again this next week.
@RobotMasters4 жыл бұрын
Hi, so my speculation to why the S4 did better us the placement of the two drive motors are reversed over the other models so this allows the extractor bar to sit closer to the ground providing better pickup abilities aka better suction. The trade off is the robot is designed for hardwood floors and low profile carpet.
