I have one request, rather than just saying "this one" or "that one" in your videos, can you say which robot you are referring to? I'm a blind person and have no idea which robot you were talking about in some cases, with what I know from other videos I can guess but sometimes it was very hard to tell. Looks like the Max V is now available and I went ahead and ordered one but the station is not available yet. I'm assuming I can get that once it becomes available. The Deabot also sounds like a great robot, I may get that one as well.

That's a great point Mike, I didn't think of that, and I will be sure to keep it in mind for future videos. In this video, if I'm saying something awesome about it, it's probably the Roborock. :P

@@MrRoombato I have a Roborock S7 Max V on the way, I didn't get the auto empty base since I will hopefully be able to get the auto empty and mop washing station at some point. This means I'll have to empty the bin and wash the pad manually for a while but I don't mind that. I've had robot vacuums before where I've had to empty the bin, not as convenient but it's not that big a deal. I actually went out and bought a Roomba J7 yesterday, using Voiceover which is the screen reader built in to an Iphone, I was able to set it up totally without sighted help which was nice. The other robot I am considering is the Ecovacs X1 omni, are you planning on doing a video on that one? I'm also thinking of getting a Roomba S9 since it has such cleaning power, I'm not sure why Irobot chose not to use the same vacuum motor for the J7.
@MrRoombato
@MrRoombato 2 жыл бұрын
@@mikearrigo5674 The j7 is an i7 with a camera in the front, so that's why they didn't use a different motor. Cheaper that way! I would avoid the s9 at all costs. It's a floor scratcher. And yes, I will do a review of the X1 OMNI. It's a very good robot.
@mikearrigo5674
@mikearrigo5674 2 жыл бұрын
@@MrRoombato Sounds like you have used the S9. I have all hard floors, no carpet at all. I've thought about the S9 a little more and think I will probably skip it. The cleaning power is supposed to be really good but I'm guessing the Roborock that I'm getting and the ecovacs X1 probably have just as much and probably have better battery life. I've heard that when you run the S9 on the max setting, the battery goes really quick, and for some reason Irobot does not put very large batteries in their robots. Still waiting for the Roborock S7 Max V to ship, even though it won't have the auto empty or auto wash feature yet, I think I'm really going to enjoy it, this will be my first Roborock.

I was concerned it would scratch my floors but went for it! Glad it was discounted! I think it is a bit unfair that you have to pay for the robot mop/vacuums since you provide quality reviews. I'm looking forward to getting the Roborock in the next couple of months. I've seen some clever garages that people have built to hide the base. My laundry room includes a closet that houses our router and network connections, so it has electricity. I'm going to cut off the bottom few inches off the door so the Roborock can sit inside the closet but have free access to come out when scheduled. Because this is my laundry room, I don't care about the odd look of the short door. The benefit will be getting the large base out of the room and out of sight.

I have a Roborock S7 and I really like its sonic mopping and mop lifting function! ! ! I have a carpet in the living room, I used to use other brands' vacuums, which would always get stuck on it or wet the carpet, and the mopping was not clean enough. Since I got the S7, the floor of my house is very clean every day, and my girlfriend never quarrels with me about cleaning. The S7's VibraRise mop lifts when a carpet is detected, so you can mop hard floors and vacuum carpets in a single clean. It also raises when cleaning is finished to avoid spreading dirt, and when docked so you can say goodbye to ugly plastic mats and dirty streaks. The S7MaxV has the same sonic mopping and mop lifting function as its S7! Roborock really frees our hands!!!!!!!

My biggest issue with these are the dusbags actually. I hate that steep reocurring cost that you have to dump into these. first party bags are expensive, and 3rd party bags are hit and miss. If one of them came along and made a bagless dustbin that I just have to empty out and rinse once in a while I'd be more inclined to buy the product.

Great video and comparison, thanks! I mentioned on another persons video… I’ve had the ECOVACS X1 Omni since March 26th, purchased through Amazon, and I have to say for a $1,400 robot vacuum, I’m disappointed… the obstacle avoidance doesn’t work with cables or socks (mine sucked up both on several occasions). The robot returned to the station mid cleaning twice so far, saying can’t reach/find area. Even after I literally cleared my whole first floor when doing initial mapping, and moved furniture that is usually stationary to ensure the best mapping possible. While I love the dual side brushes, getting more coverage, my biggest issue is that the deep cleaning is not great on high pile carpet. I noticed it can’t pick up little yarn/string or debris that’s embedded (clinging) to carpet. The mopping is good, especially when you spray down Bona cleaner on the floors prior to running. Finally, I don’t like that I can’t do mopping only, and can’t imagine this thing will do well after sucking up big liquid spills. I honestly wanted to love the X1 bc of the dual side brushes and two-in-one mopping, but I am very disappointed given the hefty price tag. Feels like I’m paying for features that don’t work as a premium robot vacuum should. How is the roborock on carpet in your opinion, or which would you recommend besides Roomba for deep cleaning carpet/rugs?
@MrRoombato
@MrRoombato 2 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry, but I don't have a way to test deep cleaning yet. I tried putting chia seeds way on the bottom of the carpet fibers but nothing I've tested can get them out, so that's not a viable approach. I haven't done a full carpet test on the Roborock yet, that's the plan for tomorrow or Friday, but from preliminary tests, it seems to do a good job. But then so does the X1 OMNI. The most important thing to understand is that none of these robots are perfect. Each one is going to be deficient in some way. If you get a different robot, you will be trading one deficiency for another. That said, I prefer the Roborock to the X1 OMNI, but I would be very happy with the X1 also.

I did forget to mention, I also really like the drying feature of the X1’s mopping pads. I know the Roborock G10S Pro in China has heating element, in addition to connections for auto filling tanks and even draining into your plumbing. Of course they had to release an even more premium version that’s not available in the USA, when the S7 MaxV hasn’t even hit the market 🤦🏻‍♂️… here’s hoping the S7 MaxV is slightly better with suction/vacuuming

@@MrRoombato Question- I noticed when setting up the app, it’s asks if I have a “Home with pets” with a disclaimer that the “robot will move in a way that improves obstacle recognition but may slightly reduce cleaning efficiency”. Does it really impact how it cleans if I choose yes? I have two long-haired Siberian cats, and honestly don’t mind if the robot gently rams them (teach them to move), if it means it will do a better job cleaning. Should I not select home with pets? I really just want it to do a good job avoiding cables, socks, etc.

I'm not sure which one cleans better, the Roborock or the Roomba J7 which I also recently got. The Roborock definitely has more suction and airflow I think. One thing I like about the Roborock is that it speaks all of the messages. Since I can't see to read a screen, this is very helpful. The app also works well with the screen reader built in to the iphone. Over the years, the biggest problem for the Shark has been the insane volume of hair kindly distributed around the house by my Siberian husky. Currently (without the Shark because it hasn't been working well anymore unless I clean the roller brush daily) I'm having to vacuum every day. I think it may help to find a vacuum with a larger dust bag to hold more hair. Do you know which of these robot vacuums has a larger volume dust collection bag?

The W10 doesn't empty itself, so it will be fine, if you don't mind that. The Roborock's self-empty system is not very robust and will get clogged. I recommend the Dreame L10S for what you want.

thanks for your in depth video! wow super helpful! in my country the roborock s7 maxv is only available without the ultra dock. i have no clue how long it will take until the dock becomes available. How well does the roborock s7 work without its dock? can it do a full vacume and wash using its own built in tanks for a 150 sq meter sized house without needing to empty the tanks? Lastly, have you tried the yeedi mop station and how would you compare that with these, since its much cheaper. im aware the navigation experience is much less advanced, but curious more about the quality of the cleaning. we dont have carpets in our house, so i wouldnt need to be removing the mopping pads. even if you do use a carpet sometimes, im ok with removing the mop pads once or twice a week to vacume the carpets.

All of them. :) I haven't tested the X1 OMNI's mopping capability. But between the S7 MaxV and Dreame W10, they are both excellent at mopping, but the Roborock can only mop at its best when set to mop only. So if you want best results, send it out to vacuum and then as a separate task, mop. If you do this with scheduling than it doesn't matter. If you like to send them manually, it's annoying. But not as annoying as emptying a dust bin. So it's up to you. The X1 has the ability to solve both of these problems, and since the new mopping plates fixed its water flow issue, it should be good to go. But like I said, I haven't tested/compared it yet.

I'm an American. I don't know what a meter is, except maybe something that I have to put quarters into to park without having to shoot it out with police. But to answer your question...I don't know how much you can clean on one full tank. My top floor is 1400 square FEET ('Muricah) and it can probably mop it twice on one tank on maximum setting. I'm talking about the deep mop only mode that makes very tight turns. When vacuuming and mopping it can do it 5 or 6 times or more.

@@MrRoombato Thx for the above. However , it is not clear if you are talking about the robot's tank or the dock's one. What matters for me is the dock's clean water tank, and the quantity of water it uses to clean the mop. if I put the settings to clean the mop every 100 sq FEET, will the dock's tank water be enough to clean the 1500 sq feet ?
@MrRoombato
@MrRoombato 2 жыл бұрын
@@theattorney6072 I was talking about the dock's tank. As for the rest, that's a very difficult question to answer, because there are a variety of settings. Are you vacuuming and mopping? Are you using the mop-only deep mode? What are your water flow settings? Also, you cannot set it to return based on square footage (thank you for your support of apple pie, guns and freedom). You can only set it to "by room" is partly automated based on mopping mode and room size, or by time, in which it returns after X minutes. With all of these variables, it would be way too much work to test all of this and give you an answer. I have my robot set to vacuum and mop every day and deep mop my kitchen, and on Fridays, vacuum only and then deep mop the whole top floor, and I drain/fill the tanks twice a week. That's the best answer I can give you.

@MrRoombato

@@theattorney6072 I used to have it set to time, but then it would sometimes go back to the dock, clean the pads, then go finish mopping for like 1 minute, then go back again! I am a current owner of the omni, it is a very good machine, however I am selling it and buying the Roborock. The reason is what he refers to around the seven minute mark. The Roborock will vacuum and mop a hard floor, then when it comes to a rug, lift up the mopping pad, vaccum the rug, and when done and off the other side, re-deploy the mop and continue vacuum and mopping the hard floors. With my Omni, I have to run it in vacuum mode, then when it is finished, install the mopping pads and run it a SECOND time. Maybe it’s no big deal to most, but if I am spending this much money I want all the perks I can get. So, from an Omni owner… I’m getting rid of it and buying the Roborock.

@MrRoombato

Not in the slightest. Assuming the M6 can move around your house (it usually can't), it's a good mop, but it will require constant attention. Even if you're comfortable with leaving the same dirty pad on it, it will run out of water quickly and you will need to fill up every time you use it (unless you live in a tiny apartment). It also doesn't do as good a job as the S7 MaxV Ultra (although it's close) and takes much longer. The i3 cleans fairly well but takes much much longer and can't clean at night.

@@quadlawnmowerman It wouldn't matter if you could, you'd still have to modify your house plumbing. Would you? I wouldn't. Not unless this was a staple feature of all such robots going forward. I'm not paying thousands of dollars and introducing new leak points just to not have to dump some dirty water and fill a tank once a week. You still have to clean the robot, remove hair from the brush, etc. It wouldn't make it maintenance free. So why bother? Dumping and filling the tanks in the fun part. Give me a robot that can clean itself and I'm game.
@quadlawnmowerman
@quadlawnmowerman 2 жыл бұрын
@@MrRoombato Well it is hardly a modification to the plumbing if you already have a dishwasher as it just joins this (parts are included for this). When you already have a dishwasher, washing machine, fridge with water feed, water filter etc, adding another 1/4" waterline with double shut off redundancy is hardly an extra leak risk. Why bother?, well if you have a reasonable sized tile area (like 80% of my 4 bedroom house) then the water container only lasts one cycle so filling it up every wash is a pita. Now I have no pets so I don't really get fur issues so maybe once every 3 months check for long hairs from mrs thing. The auto fill unit also adds the automation of cleaning solution which has a dramatic effect on drying times and how clean the floors are (when you see the difference in the dirty water you will understand its advantage). Add to this the fact you don't got to deal with the stinky water if you forget it for a few days or the cleaning job stopping part way through because you forgot to fill or empty the water again.... big advantage. I think you are missing the point of this unit which is all about automation, so you don't have to vacuum or mop, so you don't have to make up mop water, so you don't have to empty dust bins all the time, so you can set a schedule and forget, so you don't have to pick up socks and cables etc before cleaning..... and now with the auto fill station so you don't have to remember to fill up the water tank, so you don't have to remember to empty the dirty water, so you don't have to work out and measure chemicals, so you don't have to do maintenance before a schedule. By your argument, why even have the robot vacuum if you still have to do maintenance like a normal vacuum..... Would I "modify my house", yes I would and did. Added a tee to the water filter line under sink and added a line into the second dishwasher waste line, with both lines going down side of dishwasher and through existing access holes at back of dishwasher. 5min job, hardest thing was convincing the dishwasher to move out after 7 years in place. At a friends rental, we got water just before the hot water system (via supplied parts in kit) and rand the drain into the floor drain (no connector needed), when they remove the supplied main waterline tap/tee it will be like nothing was ever there, no actual modification to plumbing, just the use of a cheap adjustable wrench.

Thanks for the review. Because you also have animals, I value your opinion very much. I have 3 dogs (look like Bernese Mountain Dogs, so many and semi-long hairs) per dog I count on 1 vacuuming round per day. Now I want to buy a robot vacuum cleaner (never had one before) and doubt between these 2. I only have vinyl without carpet. Removing brushes is therefore not necessary. Disadvantage Ecovacs: Built-in reservoir, limescale. Can the Ecovacs withstand descaling (e.g. Vinegar)? Benefit: Voice activated, appearance. Disadvantage Roborock: Cleaning brush for mop (seems to get dirty quickly) What is the track record of both businesses? Is the Ecovacs small reservoir a drawback or does it not make a difference? This video is from 2 weeks ago, what is your experience now with the Ecovacs? Trustworthy? Better, Worse, still the same as the Roborock? Which one do you recommend for me? Thanks in advance for your response.

@MrRoombato 2 жыл бұрын
I think you would be fine with either, to be honest. Both are voice controlled. Roborock has excellent google/alexa integration, but of course you will need one of those in your house, and you don't need one with the Ecovacs. The mopping pad on the Roborock works really well, so no need to worry about that. The Ecovacs can vacuum and mop at the same time, the Roborock can too, but it's bad ad it. It makes wide turns and leaves narrow strips of poorly mopped floor. It has a deep mopping mode that mops phenomenally, but as of yet, you can't do that while vacuuming (that may change with firmware). You can tell it to make two passes, which will address that issue. Since you don't have carpet, my only hesitation in recommending the Ecovacs is that it has water flow issues and mops very poorly. Ecovacs is sending people new mopping plates to fix that, but I don't know if that will completely fix the issue since I haven't gotten mine yet. As far as which company is better at addressing their issues, in my experience that is definitely Roborock. Ecovacs is definitely trustworthy and has good customer support, but they are not as good as Roborock at addressing problems in their app and elsewhere. At least they haven't been so far.

Thank you so much for your information about vacuuming and mopping at the same time, this is an important point for me because he already has to clean 3 times a day, doubling this means the robot is busy all day. I thought Roborock could do this too, so thank you so much for this information. Roborock only has US support, Ecovacs also per country. Roborock responded to my email very quickly, I have not yet received an answer to my email from Ecovacs, but I was able to call them and in my own language. Currently Ecocacs is already available here, Roborock is not. For me, the Ecovacs is now preferred. Pros Ecovacs: appearance, voice control, vacuuming / mopping in one go, no brush in cleaning station. Cons: The mobs may need to be replaced, small and inaccessible water reservoir. Pros Roborock: Many think it is a reliable robot, many good reviews. Cons: appearance, speech recognition only via google or alexa, can't vacuum and mop good at the same time, cleaning brush in base station. I find it all difficult, especially because it will be my first robot and I can't view/test them somewhere myself, especially with the price, not something to just buy quickly.

@@spidersontheweb I've seen tons of Ecovacs issues. The app still remains to be buggy. The Roborock doesn't have a buggy app. The Ecovacs has trouble climbing up on its dock, but that could be tough luck. Your experience could vary. From the reviews, the Obstacle Avoidance on the Roborock seems to be better than the Ecovacs. 2in height minimum on x1 compared to 1.1 in height on s7 maxv, based on the manufacturer's claims. Maybe in the future, an update will come where the Roborock has a built-in voice assistant, as it does have an onboard mic I believe. While Ecovacs is a big brand, they do bribe their amazon customers which isn't the case for the Roborock. You may want to give a chance with the S7 MaxV. The stupid laser things to block off areas sucked, it was running into everything and getting stuck all the time, and it generally didn't vacuum that well.... It was CRAZY new at the time though and was honestly like 10+ years ahead of it's time. I just got a "modern" robot vacuum and it is insane how advanced they are in comparison. And it wouldn't have happened without the mapping/lidar/etc. technology we have now which was itself driven by the needs of the autonomous car industry. I honestly thought we should've had vaccum robots like the s7 years ago but it makes sense why they took so long to get this advanced.
