excellent video! my tire skins really couldn't stay on (super glue, bluetak, nano tape) and today a part of the now botak tires came off, revealing the smooth plastic of the wheel. good news is now it can still move properly, but i'm pretty sure mopping is out of the question (no traction). gonna try applying some kind of grip tape to the wheels (the tire skins are too big), let's see how it goes!

I have a yeedi k700, pretty similar, with exact same problem. Tried hot glue, still slips on wet ground while mopping, tried soldering the tires like you showed, moderate improvement, it moves more, but still badly slips in the same place whenever trying to turn on wet floor. Going to try to buy non-slip spray now, ugh I don't see how everybody else is saying they love the mop feature, it's terrible. Also I tried taking off the mop-cloth, and I ran it, and it stopped slipping, seems the cloth is creating too much friction that the wheels can't compete. My device is brand new, so frustrating. Edit: after a day, it seems to have regained grip. Also I realize it could partially be attributed to user error. I had put a few drops of essential oils into the tank along with the water/vinegar mix. Idk if that was contributing that intensely to the slipping, or if the newly soldered wheels are broken in now, but now I'm only using rubbing alc, vinegar, and water, and it's moving much better.

I had the same problem, I used to spray mister clean cleaner on stains on my floors before using the mopping feature. I think that was why my wheels were slipping after a while of doing this. I used a q-tip soaked in rubbing alcool and passed it each tooth of the rubber wheels which removed the shine and probably the cleaner and now works great! No more cleaner on the floor for me, my roborock does not like it.

I haven't tried this, so it may not work. But, I would try a coarser grit sandpaper like a 40 or 50 grit. The sandpaper used in the video was 120 grit, and didn't roughen up the rubber surface enough for better traction. Sand across the wheel like the video shows. Just a thought. :-)

@@KSToh It's not good to try to sand the wheels like you did. It causes some of that sand to fall into the crevices of the wheels. Better to place the sandpaper on the floor and let the robot try to drive on it.

I have tried this method (making grip on the wheels with heated iron) and can confirm that it has not solved my issues. The same situation persists. It works perfectly for just vacuuming and without the MOP. But the moment mop is connected. it crawls. I'm glad that it worked for you, but I can confirm that it does not work for me. Looking for other options. Any other potential solution that you can think of apart from the ones mentioned in the video?
@KSToh
@KSToh 2 жыл бұрын
Oh dear. The only thing I can think of is that you did not cut the wheels enough.
@ajmalca4193
@ajmalca4193 2 жыл бұрын
@@KSToh Mm, that could be a possibility. I was trying to maintain it as it is so that atleast vacuuming still works :) Once I start the vacuum, it would mop for 5-10 minutes before it starts crawling as shown in your video. In my case, after making cuts on the wheels, it stops and does not move until I remove the mopping cloth. Probably, that'd be the time for the mop to wet completely. So from my research I understand that the mop does not happen when the mop is wet completely. Still figuring out what's wrong. I do sincerely appreciate your efforts in documeting your trouble shooting efforts in such a nice way. Thank you so much for the video bro :)

Is the idea to soften the wheels so they grip better or increase the surface area? I used 60-gauge sandpaper on the wheels and so far (used twice) it provides a lot better grip on tiles. Where it spun like yours before, it now goes pretty straight. Will have to wait and see how long it lasts though.

Exactly the same problem on our S5 Max after almost two years. First it only affected mopping on tiles - now the robot is even unable to get enough grip on a medium pile carpet. What I find annoying the most is that Roborock's support is very unhelpful when it comes to this. When I described them this problem the last time, their suggestions where not helpful and some of their responses got really unfriendly. Imho as part of the warranty they should provide you with the proper replacement parts - but I guess they do not want to send you a new set of wheels as that would be fairly expensive …
