Finally subscribed this channel after a while watching… 😁 so much information you gave here especially about robo. Most of robo’s videos focusing on taming them but for me they’re not tame in terms of cuddling for a long time like other species but their definition of tame is when they play in front of you or with you. My baby for example she doesn’t like to be handle for longer than 2 min but she loves to climb me and run around me everyday. However love this channel since you share about their care and I love it so much. Hope you keep on sharing more info about robo cause loving this tiny babies so much 😍😍😍

:D :D thanks for such a kind message! Yes, I agree, I think “tame” for a robo is probably different from other hams- they are so high energy but also so fun and cute! I’m glad you’ve enjoyed my robo videos so far, hope to do another soon :)

Loved this video! I have the 9-inch Silent Runner for my robo, but she still hasn't used it yet (at least from what I've seen, she's super skittish)

Love this. Do u still use the zacro wheels? I had actually gotten one after your video review of it and my Campbells dwarf uses it. I have since ordered also ordered all of these wheels, because I am a little obsessed w a good hamster wheel..only 3 hams, but so many wheels 🙂. Still the Zacro wheel sits in my Campbell's dwarf tank full time because he was making a lot of noise w the other ones and he is in my daughter's room. I think he likes it ok, but it could probably be better. My last Campbell's dwarf that passed recently had the all wood niteangel wheel..that was amazingly silent and perfectly balanced. I really think niteangel makes unbeatable products. Thanks for sharing. 🙂

Thanks for your comment! I do still use the Zacro, I owned two but one recently broke and I could not repair it (I did try!). I ended up using them for my dwarf hamsters as well, I found they were a bit heavy and difficult to use for my robos. When I bought the Zacros it was before Niteangel wheels were available, it was a great option at the time and quieter than the silent runner for me! I actually recently tried to buy a few more (I too have a hamster wheel collection!) but they seem to be no longer available : /. I do agree that I find I like the Niteangel wheel selection best. I now own the acrylic Niteangel, the wooden/cork ones, the super silent and the dark clouds. Of them, I think I like dark clouds the best , but they are all sooo quiet and well made! I think I could probably update this video as my tastes have changed, maybe I’ll try to do a “wheel roundup” once a year or so!

Hi, thanks for watching! For all of my hamsters their main mix is 1 full bag of higgins sunburst + 1 full bag of Mazuri rat and mouse lab block. I've heard that due to Robo's very active lifestyle they should have closer to 20% protein or a little more, so I also give them cooked, scrambled eggs, freeze dried chicken and fresh veggies. I made a page with info I've referenced and links if it's helpful! www.rachelgothamsters.com/food

Hi, where did you get your moss? It's so pretty!
@RachelGotHamsters3 жыл бұрын
Hi! Oh thank you! It’s called sheet moss, you can buy it in the reptile section of most pet stores, I’ll put a link to it in the description below for you :) I suggest you freeze it for 48 hours (I freeze everything that’s natural substance like food, moss, bedding, it keeps the bugs from invading your hamsters bin!)

My robo and winter whites use 9 inch silent runners. I witnessed my winter white get tossed out of a 6.5 wheel with no sides. She flew out onto her back on a toy and her back bent backwards. Freaked me out. and changed it immediately.

💗Thank you so much for this video, and your blog post! I just got a tiny dwarf hamster (not sure yet if it's a robo, a campbells, or a mix) and bought the 8" Niteangel. At first she was doing fine, but just tonight (day 3 of her using the wheel) I saw her flipping a lot and falling down hard 😥 I remembered hearing somewhere that could mean the wheel is too small, and Google led me to your blog post :) I just ordered overnight delivery for the 10 inch Bucatstate, and am also picking up a standard 12 inch from the big pet store tomorrow, just to cover my bases. It's breaking my heart to see her trying so hard and falling- I'm having mini heart attacks, lol. I can't imagine how hilarious she's going to look being so teeny tiny in those big wheels, but I have confidence she's going to be just fine- she runs soooooo fast, it's mind blowing!

Aww I’m so glad this helped!! I also just released another video showing how I picked out a wheel for my newest dwarf hamster, Maurice, if it helps? kzbin.info/www/bejne/m3yVqoB_ebWNp6s I think it can be tricky bc every ham is so different… but I did notice a huge difference with larger wheels working better. Although weight and style of wheel also seem to matter. I hope 🤞 this helps you, please let me know which one you end up settling on!

@@RachelGotHamsters I've got a playlist set up of your videos I'm watching right now, and that's one of them. :) Yay! I'll be keeping all the wheels- because like you, I feel like I'll be keeping hammies for awhile now that I've got this one, lol. So might as well have some on hand ;) But I'll let you know which wheel Dolly ends up liking. :)

I have a small wodent wheel 8 inch and my Robo will keep running then stop but go half way up the wheel backwards then get dropped down. She had a scrape on her nose that bleeds due to this. Should she get a smaller wheel or how do I stop this?
@RachelGotHamsters Жыл бұрын
Hi! Thanks for your question! I would actually go BIGGER to help with a fast running robo 🏃♀️ 💨. The problem with smaller is they get whipped to the top of the wheel really quickly when they stop 🛑. The larger the wheel, the longer the distance to the top! For most robos I would recommend the 10” size, although many will also do well on a 12” if they are very fast runners! Hope this helps! Where are you located? Do you have many wheel options?
@Thomas-Skaa Жыл бұрын
@@RachelGotHamsters Yes I am able to buy a new wheel. I just though she would need a smaller one. I have 3 9 inch silent runners from past syrians i've had. Ill buy a bigger wheel. I was just scared that with a bigger wheel if she gets flug back she will fall even further and get hurt. I did some googling and saw some people say they just have to learn but its been a month and she still has not learned. I just do not want her to get hurt. Ive had her a month and she already has a bloody cut on her nose, I feel bad for her but she does not seem to mind.
@Thomas-Skaa Жыл бұрын
@@RachelGotHamsters I also read that some people suggested to get a wood wheel since its heavy and will cause the hamster to not run as fast. Just wont them peeing on a wood wheel ruin it? then it will probably be loud too. Maybe if I can find a way to slow down my current wheel with added friction? or should I just try a 10 or 12 inch?
@RachelGotHamsters Жыл бұрын
@@Thomas-Skaa You can definitely try a wooden wheel! They are a bit more heavy, although in my experience they haven't really helped with preventing falls (at least for my hamsters) bc the weight of the wheel - when they stop running the wheel has a lot of momentum of it's own and keeps going. This one from niteangel is very quiet and lovely to look at - amzn.to/3xIfsqT It has a cork lining, which is also really good for your hamster's paws AND can help her have more tracking to start/stop running. I wash these wheels like any other wheel- with soap and water and then let dry. It takes a bit longer to dry and sometimes you'll need to replace the cork, but is still a great wheel!
@RachelGotHamsters Жыл бұрын
@@Thomas-Skaa yeah... I think when they are young (up until about 4 -5 months or so) they tend to have more accidents, they are just spazzier and not as coordinated it seems. Have you tried the 9" silent runner yet? That 1" might help her. Yes, I hear you about the worry of her getting flung! but- if it helps- For Moe, my new rescue dwarf, I gave him an 8" dark clouds to start. After a few days of him flying off of it a few times, I upgraded him to the 10" and he hasn't had an issue since. He's a really small little thing too (possibly smaller than Oscar, my robo), so I thought the 8" would be better for him, but so far the 10" is working like a charm! (actually this wheel in the 10" size might be great for your hamster too! It's also very wide, so she'll have space to correct herself if she needs it - amzn.to/41hTI2M ) If you're worried during this transition time I would just make sure that the area around the wheel is extra soft- no rocks or hard things around in case she does fall a few times, she'll just land in soft bedding. If it makes you feel better - I've personally never seen my hamsters get seriously injured from a wheel fall (nor have I heard of it). The only times I've heard of more serious injuries are from people dropping their hamsters or flinging them when they bite. I definitely understand the worry though, it just means you are a great ham-parent! :)

I've had some trouble with the Exotic nutrition wheel, when my robo will just go into the sand bath, and then after that he'll go on the wheel with the sand still on his little feet, and he wouldn't be able to spin the wheel. was this a problem? we tried to wash it out a couple times. (we currently have the dark cloud wheel.. so silent!)
@RachelGotHamsters3 жыл бұрын
Oh yes, my robos have had trouble pushing the silent runner at times! The cork is probably better traction for them. I’ve found oiling the center axis helps a lot, or you can loosen the back so it spins more freely. Glad you found the dark clouds, 🌧 it is a great wheel (and so pretty!)
