Do you have animals? My site has a large brood of peacocks and they generally get out of the way but they are also a bit daft sometimes and get themselves intro situations. I also have a lot of low fences that use stainess steel railing cables at around 6 inches from the ground - about the right height to tangle with a mower wheel, from my experience. I have a lot of fallen branches too, I pick up dozens per day, but the type of trees I have drop branches pretty much continuously all year around - does it avoid branches?
@FraserValleyRoseFarm4 ай бұрын
You can use the settings to customize the level of obstacle avoidance. It has 3D stereo vision to see the birds, and if you set it to avoid by sight, it'll do that. The front bumper is a nice safeguard - if the mower pushes into something that it can't gently nudge through, it stops the blades and tries to navigate around. Anything up by 6" will definitely engage the bumper, but most of that is avoidable (with your fences) by the mapping. It's pretty precise, so if you "train" the mower to give them a little margin, there's not much chance of a tangle. The fallen branches will be more of an issue, and that'd fall under the obstacle avoidance settings. What I've found is that I do a quick walk of the area before the scheduled mowing time just to make sure we haven't moved a bench or left a hose out, and that takes care of most problems. The built-in features of the robot make it unlikely that there'll be anything more serious than a "work paused" message on your phone (and then you go out and clear the obstacle, restart the job).
@Orinoor4 ай бұрын
We have one, it is surprisingly capable, although it can get stuck now and then.
@FraserValleyRoseFarm4 ай бұрын
Thanks. This one too - but usually it's because I've moved a lawn chair and didn't think to clear it before the scheduled mowing.

Thank you. Can you control the mower with a remote? I am disabled and cannot go out on grass in my wheelchair.
@FraserValleyRoseFarm4 ай бұрын
Yes. All the training is done by remote on your phone through the app. My suggestions would be to to practice maneuvering the mower on the remote (prior to setting up the mapping), keep the speed down, and take your time. It's pretty easy once you get used to it.

I'm not sure how sophisticated your machine is, but some can be programmed with overlapping patterns to change up the crosscut at different intervals which provide a nice appearance change as well as ruffling the thatch a bit to help aerate the sod a little. You mentioned learning, so I assume that your machine can map out a certain area of space to travel consistently within. Be careful, some of these creatures have been known to go rogue.😂🤣🤙
@FraserValleyRoseFarm4 ай бұрын
Lol. Thanks. Yes, this one can alternate the mowing directions using the same map. It has more options than I know what to do with!
@hollyssimplelife16344 ай бұрын
I have trees that drop sticks. How does it handle these? Can it be programmed to cross the driveway to mow additional areas or does it just mow one section at a time ?
@FraserValleyRoseFarm4 ай бұрын
I didn't deal with a lot of large branches. It went through small debris (and mole hills) easily, but if it were a larger branch you'd want the obstacle avoidance to be set to navigate away from it. The bumper and tilt sensors generally keep it from running over anything large, but this is all something you can customize in the settings a bit. Yes, you can program as many of the zones as you'd like - and paths in between so it knows where to cross.
@SpotBentley4 ай бұрын
Do you to train it each time you do a section of your lawn, or can it store each section in its memory?
@FraserValleyRoseFarm4 ай бұрын
All the programmed sections are stored in memory. You just need to select the schedule, mowing height & pattern (or leave as default) and it'll do the same area again anytime.

Are there models for small yards? I have usually mowed my own lawn. However, I've developed a condition - frozen shoulder - that makes pushing things like a lawn mower very painful - even my self-propelled mower. Something like what you demonstrated here could be a game changer!
@FraserValleyRoseFarm4 ай бұрын
There are loads of options in these robot mowers. I think Mammotion (the company that sent me the Luba 2) sells a model that does 1/4 acre (the AWD 1000). Probably worth shopping around a bit and getting familiar with the options - I've only tested two of these robot mowers.

My home is sitting on 1.5 acres of land. Can the luba 2 5000 handle it.?
@FraserValleyRoseFarm4 ай бұрын
For the most part I'd think yes - it 's rated for 1.25 acres of mowing space (actually will accept mapping up to the full 1.5 acres) and of course, your yard will be less than that by the footprint of the house, driveway & any other features (pool, outbuildings, garden beds).

I want to buy a 5000 model for my 2 and 1/2 acre plot. Do you think I could get away with that or do I need the 10,000 model? I can accept longer mowing times, or is it a limit in the app?

It does seem the limits are built into the app (max. mapping size)
