One thing to add, Marty is already working on quite a few updates to the mod. In addition to an update that he has already released to fix some outfit bugs, he's aiming to release more outfit options to give players some more grounded designs. He's also looking to do some rewrites for the later quests in Ashe's story, and is taking a lot of player feedback into account as he continues to add to the mod.

Have to agree with most of your criticisms and praise. The voice acting itself was superb, aside from the few minor technical issues with mic noise, etc. There were a few times when you were talking to Ashe where I took a moment to think to myself "this VA is really good". All of the VAs were good. I personally was less of a fan than you were about using VAs to add commentary to the vanilla NPCs, though, as none of them were very good fits. I found it very jarring. I think creating new NPCs entirely for those lines would have been a much smoother experience. Also, Lucan Valerius knowing anything about Dwemertech was crazy. Maybe if those lines had been given to Cancelmo instead? Or the Dwemer researcher at the College of Winterhold? I fully expected that if you'd have followed the clues and gone to the rendezvous spot mentioned in the notes there would have been further progress in tracking down the source of the assassination plot and resolving it. Even at the end I was surprised and disappointed that apparently that was never an option. I hope it's the first thing added when the mod gets new content. I already said this in the last segment, but I definitely would never do any option where Rolen survives. In modern times we still arrest war criminals and send them to jail even if they're 80 and living a peaceful life when they're finally found. But we're supposed to chop wood for the retired assassin? Nah. that's always going to be a huge sticking point for me. Not wild about the sword return quest, either. Makes it seem like it's fine that she stole his sword because he's a drunk ass anyway and obviously she's much more entitled to it.

0:44 - Unironically, that's one of the main tropes of Mary Sue character - plot, characters, and their motivation bends over backwards or go out the window to emphatize how "great" or "morally good" that character is. We did bare minimum we ought to do to pay Ashe's debt to this man, and he's suddenly: "Oh, you're so great, you're more virtuous than me so you deserve to wield my legendary family blade that you stole from me when you left me for dead. But I suck, and you're totally a good girl now by the way!" Bruh. Motivations of the characters flip-flop from one extreme to another for barely any reason. If he had said: "Well... I guess that makes us even. But I still hope that our paths will never meet again.", and she was like "(with sadness and regret) Of course. Forgive doesn't equal forget. I wish you good luck on your journey", and he replied with: "Yeah. You too, I guess...", and then he takes the sword and leaves, never to be seen again. Now that would be a believable scene - Ashe atones for what she did, but the bridge is still burned, past cannot be undone, and this is the lesson she has to carry to the end of her days - that world isn't perfect, she isn't perfect, not everything can be fixed, and we all must face consequences of our actions. EDIT - Typos

I'll never understand why this mod is so highly praised. The writing is not good and is very predictable.

I had a lot of the same criticisms with my playthrough. My biggest criticisms were the romance (pacing and discomfort with Ashe's age), Ashe's outfit being out-of-place and the three redemption stories feeling a bit unsatisfying. It's still overall a very well made mod and I love the voice acting quality. I'm looking forward to checking out future patches for Ashe to see how things develop from here.

I felt the exact way about the mod. Really high-quality, pretty decent Battle Angel Alita, etc. kinda vibes, but the outfit + some of the indulgent writing felt cringe. Having every NPC be horny for your gf was cringe, having dialogue pop up in second-person, telling us what we do, think and notice was awkward, and the tone or voice of the romance felt very specific. I recognize some of that voice from SDO, which is also very good, but still felt uncomfortable. I felt like Marty was playing me as a video game instead of me playing his mod, and that was ick. Let us say the same thing a few different ways, not everyone does romance the same.

You know, I was thinking about the outfit, and I can already think of two reasons that'd probably work to better justify why it is the way it is. 1: Ashe, as a replica of Dwemer automatons, is naturally durable (don't see dwemer spheres waltzing around in armor, after all), and has no need for "real" armor as a result. Thus, she wears the clothes she wears cuz she likes em (still doesn't fit in Elder Scrolls, but tbh I've never been a fan of the explanation used in the mod) 2: Ashe's clothing is... enchanted. In a world of magic, its extremely easy to use enchanting as a way to justify why clothing would be worn instead of armor. Her clothes are enchanted to help her result damage, sorta like a constant flesh spell. Again, she wears her fashion not due to practicality (Im sorry, there's no way wearing heels is better than wearing normal greaves/boots for combat lmao), but because she just enjoys the fashion. But anyways, thanks for reviewing the mod George! Looking forward to you finishing Olenveld and your next mod review.

The story line it's self was overall a good story line. I personally felt like her construction would of taken 15+ years to create, and thusly add 6 years to that, so she's actually closer to 21+ in my mind, once the idea is born she was being created, and then of course, she laid around after completion for quite some time before she activated for the first time. So she wasn't actually "born" the day she was activated. Then of course all the "programming" added... * being the first, how do they know they are doing it right without activating, testing, shutting down and changing? I don't use the suggested mod they say because I find it to be very clunky and barely functional in my mod list, I default to the original mod set for that. So fade to black with those options, and if I want to actually watch I can use the original mod for that. They apparently never watched any decent vampire movies, vampires can have children, it's just more difficult, and the children age a lost slower than anything else in the world. Not to mention curiosity of sunlight will turn them to Ashe before they realize what's happening. My own final take of the mod. All in all I felt they tried to incorporate modern technology into the time frame and it feels more like a broken and cut puzzle and doesn't fit neatly into Skyrim, using the Volkihar clan as the implied orchestrator of Madius' demise feels forced, and why bandits? They would of sent vampires after him if it was them, not just random bandits. Creation of Atomotons is not something they would frown on, cause they created the Gargoyles, which are stone atomotons.

My only major criticism is that there are too many narration boxes explaining what’s yin the mod. I think most of them could be either inferred by the player or simply integrated into the dialogue and environmental storytelling

everything was satisfying for me except for that redemption arc. maybe he got the idea from the last of us 2? having drink with father's assassin and treating him as if he's been like her old friend were definitely not a good approach. Ashe being born from parents' souls was definitely a great moment. And ending scene with mother monologue might have been a bit cringe but still satisfying. But that one flaw; the assassin still gets me. hope marty changes that part for good, cause i can grant you that no one will agree with his opinion on that specific part.

The writing on this mod is just bad tbh, I agree with others who have commented on this mod. Technically, it has impressive features and voice actor was really good but writing was horrible and suffers from heavy dose of Mary Sue-ism. The lore integration was little to no real effort, and it would be better off just admitting that this mod just doesn't fit well with the rest of lore and Skyrim's world. And the explanation for the outfit was just cringe and would have been far better off without it as well.

The writing seems to lack a sense of humor and be kind of clunky compared to expert work like bg3. But you know this is free, so by that standard it’s not bad. I wonder how he got a real VA to do this?

This mod is about a 4 out of 10 for me. It has potential but there are just too many lore breaking scenarios for me personally. Also, not a fan of the modernized grammar and the whole npcs voice impressions. She's unique but I highly doubt that anyone in Skyrim (a nation that lacks academics and forsakes magic) would even care. If you aren't a patheon (Ysmir, Kyne, Alduin, ect) they won't care to know you.
