For me, actually, the more I read the story the more I thought how bad it was. Specifically, it baffled me how the comic pretended that the species and races who lived by the mantra of "might is right" or who practiced slavery somehow were the ones with the best technological advancements. Even if they're aliens, they obviously behave not too different from humans and if we have learned anything from our own history is that promoting slavery, racism and/or never-ending wars doesn't create grounds for technological progress, quite the opposite actually. Second thing that's incredibly stupid is how the supposedly smartest characters approach moral dilemmas as if they were kindergartners. Are you telling me that "genius" Robot is incapable of realizing that just because you're a descendant of the Zaxal royal family you won't necessarily become an slaver? How stupid and racist you have to be to arrive to that conclusion? Furthermore, the idiot was in favor of shutting their dimension from others because of some irrational fear that he, what? Thought they would conquer other dimensions as they had done in the past?! Dude, you ended that threat, you can now open the dimensions and trade with other worlds, that would've completely solved the threat of any future Flaxan invasion if you have made them trade partners with Earthlings... JEESUS, how is Robot so stupid?!! Last but not least, Dinosaurus. My God, it's like it was written by a 6 year old. You have a fictional world filled with demi Gods and beings capable of rewriting reality and you're talking about fossil fuels, solar panels and global warming?? I mean, come on, there is not a single being in the Planet able to generate enough energy to replace fossil fuels or to clean the air from the CO2/methane??? It's hard to take the rest of the story seriously when I read shit like that, honestly.

@kazuoua
@kazuoua 3 жыл бұрын
@@austinpowers3659 hard to buy that excuse when every single character in the story behave and think in the same way as Robot even though they're considered "smart". Oliver, Dinosaurus, Robot and others I don't remember, they're all "geniuses" who arrive to the same moral conclusions, that utilitarian morality is the most logical and right thing to follow which then leads then to considering commiting genocides. The story teaches them that their conclusion is "wrong" because, well, "killing is bad" and "oh my god, if you kill someone others will feel really bad about losing a loved one"... and that's the moral epiphany. It really is stupid and simple-minded, I wish there had been better characters in the story.

Maybe they get creative boners from some form of nom human sadism or just sheer violence.

He should have listened to the "Love of his Life", when she tried to stand against him. But no, he was manipulative, selfish, deceptive from day one. It was always about what HE wanted. There is no way that she could be blamed for HIS terrible decisions. Yes, she cheated on him, because she would have gone for other men, if Rudolph hadn't cockblocked her , whenever she dared to show interest in someone. Then he goes on to tell her how "he was going out of his way to help her", which is bull. He was GROOMING her. And as I said, he refused to let her go back home, because he wanted her by his side. I still don't get it to be honest. Sure he did some bad things, but it was mostly on personal level and really did not have real negative impact on the people. Mark ranted on about how Rex is bad because he wants control and shits, yet Mark accepts to be am Emperor, his dad was an Emperor. Societies need leaders, there has to be some level of control, and Rex technically did it best. The only reason, the real reason they opposed his rule was simply because well...he killed some people. Omni Man wiped the entire Guardians of the Globe and killed countless citizens, hell even geocoded against one planet and blew up his home empire and somehow everyone's ok with him being the Emperor afterwards. Rex ended up becoming evil because people like Mark choose to ignore the goods and focus on the bad when it satisfy their lust for revenge. While at the same time, he ignores the bad and focus on the good of his friends and families (Which by the way, Rex was once also his friend). And that son of Monster Girl? He acts like his people and family's are some innocent peace-loving dudes who did not try to invade Earth multiple times over and over and over and over after being told to stop being dicks at least twice. Maybe its not Rex's problem, maybe its his people's problem? Even after reformation, even after Rex brings the planet into prosperity, one overthrow and then they start go back trying to invade another dimension again, like jesus. Honestly, I think Rex's biggest mistake was betraying Mark before he at least tries to explain his plans of what an ideal utopia has to be. And his worst move was at the end where he makes enemies out of the Vultrumites. It would not matter if Mark has more power, because Earth loved Rex. If Mark tries to overthrow Rex, what's he gonna say to the people of Earth? "Guys, the dude who gives you Utopia, ends all slavery, deals with all criminals, brings peace and all the happiness actually kills some of my friends. So he has to be removed, please go back to the old ways and pretend this Utopia no longer exist. Oh, and there're aliens secretly breeding on your planet, just ignore them!"

@@peerawat9x without Omni-Man the Viltrumite War could've be lost leaving earth in diret danger or indirect danger when Thragg came over the first time if Nolan wasn't there to rule over the Viltrumites and change their way. Not saying he deserved more forgiveness, just that it's plain false he didn't do anything useful for the planet. Second you have to consider the different birth circumstances: Nolan lived most of his life raised and brainwashed by an alien dictatorship, while Rex was born and grew on earth even on very particular circumstances, exposed since earth to human values. Regarding Cecil, he was one of a kind and betrayed allies on the daily basis but I don't remember him directly killing his allies in a preventing way. Even when fighting Mark, he tried to stop him rather than kill him. So I'd say it's a little different even if the parallels are there In the end from the logical point of view Rex was way better than Nolan in saving the lives of his people and helping them in the grand scheme of things but on the human (which is pretty relevant in Invincible's story) side Nolan turned into a hero choosing peace over war for his people, even the one who opposed him (which yeah came and bit him in the ass later on) and never directly forced them to do anything under his rule, while in the end Rex directly exterminated not some but most of the heroes of earth and his friends and attempted to do the same to his lover. From the human point of view Rex went from being a hero to a villain while Nolan the opposite

I'm so glad that Earth thrives under Robot's rule, it logically should be since he's super smart and has a lot of experience already, but most of the time in fiction whenever something like this happens the new ruler can't control their new domain very well, or smth goes wrong etc. And in the end he's not bitter with his new role. He gets to give his opinions regarding Earth, but someone who has the humanity that Robot lost throughout the years gets to be in charge. Props to beating Mark 1 on 1 too by exploiting his weakness

@Brian Babin I'm not sure what you think "head canon" means, especially since you couldn't be bothered to spell it properly. Therefore, I will explain why this is not, in fact, head canon: It's a simple observation based on the Mauler Twins fighting over who is the clone, since they can only remember the same stuff as the original. But then it turns out that both are the clone, but they do have the original's memories. So even though the original Rudy will die, the new one will think he's the original. And now we know that from how the Mauler twins have been depicted. I have imposed literally nothing from outside the show itself, which is what head canon ACTUALLY is.

Really, I think Robot's character arc was great...except his downfall kind of felt unearned. After outsmarting *everyone* and taking over the world in such a way that even the heroes throw up their hands and say "we may not like it, but he's basically won and fighting him isn't going to make things better", he makes what can only be characterized as a *disastrously* poor call by kidnapping the viltrumite children, which immediately gives Mark a justification to go after him, turns every viltrumite on the planet against him (what exactly did he think they were going to do once the immediate threat was neutralized?) and starts a fight he was completely unprepared for and incapable of winning, for no real perceivable benefit. It's really just a disastrously bad call on a tactical level, when it would have been much more satisfying to see him lose because of a failure on an emotional level (since he's already proven to have that as a blindspot - see being successfully betrayed and imprisoned by Monster Girl.)

I would argue that while he did do quite a lot of good, and I don't mean to downplay all the good he does, His dubious actions such as killing Cecil, Sampson, Kid Thor and Knockout were not for the good of the world but for his own good. Many characters justify what Robot did to Cecil by saying that he would be happy to die for this cause. However if that is the case he would be just as willing to enact Robot's proposed changes from the very position Robot uses to enact them. Killing him and the others was simply a way to eliminate the competition who would oppose his rule.

From a certain view point, he still is. It just that he would take whatever method he deemed right in his goal to make earth safe and better. Even if that meant becoming a tyrant and betraying the heroes.

In Invincible, you slowly start seeing that average superhero ideals don't work in the long run. Even Mark, started to question if just beating villains actually does a change in the long run.

@@victorsardaneta8727 At least he used Talk no Jutsu and it actually worked on some villains. Also I find it funny that he kills villains only when need be. Batman should learn from him.

This is a great case of "you either die a hero or live long enough to become the villain." A thousand years in another dimension would do that to you.

The 1000 year character arch with Robot and Monster Girl was one of the best parts of the comics. Two lover get to spend a millennium together.

To answer those of you wondering 1. How did Amanda (Monster girl) have a child with a Female Flaxan? 2. What happened between Amanda and Robot after his brain was put in the jar? 1A. The curse Turns her into a male monster (With male parts) since the Flaxan was Female. They were able to have a kid with the Flaxan giving birth They even show the Flaxan riding Monster Girl O.o 2A. After a while with robot in the jar. He tells Amanda he misses her and is very lonely. Amanda coldly tell Robot that he asked for it and deserves it. Shes done with him. (He did betray her twice and even tried to kill her) although robot still loved Amanda it was not Mutual

Also take into account the show takes a much more straight forward approach at the timeline. Everything happens, but just not exactly how it does in the comics.

I think some of these changes are for the better. Sometimes stories benefit from cutting down on the amount of content. You don't want to try to cram too much in and just end up with this giant plot that people lose interest in trying to follow.

Both Spawn and Invincible are part of the Image comics universe. There are canonical crossovers all the time in Invincible lol. Savage Dragon, Tech Jacket, Firebreather etc pop up from time to time.

There's a fun fact that noone notice about robot, when he betray all his Friends, he only killed the ones who flirt with monster girl when they return to earth, bulletprouf was the only exception because he allies with robot before the genocide of heroes. I can only think that the when he found monster girl cheat him he becomes more sadict and evil.

@@Lukozzz234 I have checked as best as I could. Maybe you were referencing Gaurdians of the Globe or one of the other spinoff comics? But I also feel like if this is true, it also diminishes Rudy's character arc and flattens him out. Just my opinion.
