Tom Strong Reviews It was a real highlight! You don't get the feel of it on the video but I swear for about a minute or so there was just indiscriminate parts of robot hitting the polycarbonate! Was great fun though, shame I had to drop out... Shiny took out something on my robot, and Shiny broke with that hit so we were both out of it! Next year though, I'll be in it then haha. It's interesting to see which designs go the distance, it seemed like all the spinning machines were out first!

Galaxis (0:32) is fully functional but gets pinned on top of a disabled bot very early in the match. No matter how hard It tries and tries to dislodge itself, it just can't quite get the leverage to put wheels on the floor do it. Other disabled bots are starting to pile up all around, and it looks like any chance of breakimg free has vanished... until suddenly the perfect set of circumstances smashes in to set it free, along with the bot below! Woohoo! Alright boys, we're back in this! ... and it immediately drives into the pit.

I've noticed you guys have a lot of large-ish robots in the 30lb class, with several being bigger than my 60lb robot. Is this a specific design decision, a local sport tradition, or is it just to make the robot more intimidating? A lot of US robots are going for more compact designs across the board with an emphasis on using stronger and heavier materials and just using less of them. I wonder if this is going to happen over on the other side of the Atlantic?

+VestedUTuber Well, we have a different design spec almost - you guys have tons of vicious spinners over there and no ring-outs, whereas we have ring-outs and lots of flipper based machines as a result We do have some genuinely tiny robots (My feather rambot isn't much bigger than some beetleweights) but it's just how the sport has evolved over here. We also tend to build with taking damage in mind, and have air gaps as a result, rather than layering up the armour. Not to mention, we don't often have to take as much damage because of the heavy amount of out-of-the-arena immobilisations that occur whereas in the US robots just sort of have to take the hits for as long as they can Also worth a mention, pneumatics are huge and that tends to be why our flippers specifically are so big...

A V it's 'to the death' so if you can't move, you're out - if they run out of battery, have vital components damaged or are otherwise unable to keep fighting then they're out - I don't think any of them decided to stop fighting of their own accord
