What a coincidence that Dantomkia and King B would be in the same heat here and again 12 years later.

Ironically, IG-88 did the most damage to Dantomkia, based off this comment from Mike Lambert: Mind you, out of all the spinners that I have fought (inc battlebots) IG-88 is the one that caused the worst damage. As it went over the arena wall its disk hit the tip of Dantomkias flipper and sent a surge through the radio interface electronics and fried a load of relays and their driver ccts. This plagued us for the rest of that RobotWars series. The weapon often wouldnt work, relays would jam or refuse to operate and even the Radio Control deadband would drift. Unfortunately I didnt have a spare set of electronics with me so I had to use what I had.

3:25 Oh, Jonathan, never change. DTK might have been the one to watch in this fight but there was no shame at all in either Rick or King B - I think it's fair that King B went through but Rick's one of those plucky machines that you have to respect. Other than that, a strangely underwhelming fight. IG-88 making up for its' brother Vader's poor performance earlier in the series, with a horrendous vertical spinner. They may not be at Aftershock levels yet, but it's scary enough for S7 standards. Scorpion's disc barely looked like it was working after the single hit to TMHWK though, and at the end - it looked like IG-88 was spinning down to not continue the fight once they realised The Stag was in the pit - so it's all on Scorpion trying to pick a fight with them and getting the front shattered off. I think at the very least Team Vader decided not to do more damage to them than necessary. Fair play. Spin City! Hoo boy, so this was a nightmare of a fight for the producers, I'm certain. In some cases, Barber-Ous 2 would have been said to have been pitted unfairly, and they'd have stopped the fight there - but this was clearly a whiteboard match to entertain the crowd and damned if the producers weren't going to let the crowd go disappointed. Problem was at that point, Infernal Contraption was only semi-mobile, without a spinner, and Shredder's weapons didn't look like they worked either. Hence you can see Refbot counting out Infernal Contraption while the cameras don't really look at it, trying to give you the impression it's immobile rather than merely struggling to move. Then the House Robots do the damage. I get why they did it, but it doesn't mean I agree. Jesus fuck. Your HD uploads reveal something I don't think I saw before and that's the gashes in DTK's armour. It didn't look like Scorpion's weapon was working properly last heat, but here it is and hooooooly shit. DTK had some of the better armouring especially for flippers in this day and age and that was gashed right through. It's not even ripped away, that's cutting, more like Mechavore in the US or Carbide more recently. People have been saying not to mock Scorpion in S4 because it became a beast - this is the fight that proves it. Simon from King B admits that it was made in a 'tamer era' and keeping the same design is something of a liability in an arena filled with nasty spinners - he's not wrong, but it is always nice to see them coming back, these RW veterans not giving up. Impressive work on repairing the damage from the side in time for the All Stars though when a good deal of other robots couldn't make it in time. No wonder they have such a fanbase today. Very little to say about this heat final, but DTK, those who live by the sword, die by the sword...
@cr100013 жыл бұрын
Yes I noticed the exact same thing about Shredder and Infernal Contraption - the Refbot started counting (I wasn't even sure which one) while both of them were still driving, both their weapons had virtually stopped but that didn't make them immobile. B&^*&^ y House Robots! I would love to see a superheavyweight 200kg version of Carbide or Aftershock let loose on the house robots and give them a taste of their own medicine.

Yea, i think Cassius, Doctor Psycho and Growler were kind of a waste of money, especially Cassius. Doctor Psycho was kind of just replacing Sir Killalot which wasn't necessary, Growler was cool and unique though. I'd have accepted them taking in Growler but leaving out Psycho and Cassius. It's the same with the drop zone and the spinning disk, useless features and waste of money.

As a Barber-Ous fan, the Spin City battle makes me so frustrated. If there is any consolation, it is that Barber-Ous' reliability problems are greatly exaggerated by most people. After all, it did survive direct hits from Shredder Evolution's discs, and a hammer blow from Mr. Pyscho.

Gotta say after watched some of Battlebots series. Arena (elevated control room for contestants) goes to Robot Wars and so does hazards (built-in hazards, referee bots), but satisfaction goes to Battlebots thanks to more destructive factor likes Tombstone, Bronco, Minotaur, Complete Control, etc. Looking for more chaotic battle, Robot Wars is better, on the other hand Battlebots is more intense.
@233Deadman6 жыл бұрын
Have you been comparing them fairly? If your comparing with modern Battlebots with the machines you mentioned, then fairness is to compare with the modern Robot Wars.
