One thing I love about this battle is, intentionally or not, the animators had them fight each other like they were fighting enemies from their own series. Optimus constantly goes for head blows on the Gundam, which would be a lot more damaging to a Transformer like him, and at 34:18 Amuro goes for the lower torso area as if he were fighting another piloted mech.

The Gundam limitations are due to Amuro's piloting eventually stressing its motors & mechanisms. Which is why it needed magnetic coating.

That actually makes a lot of sense and is a smart thing, considering that Transformers are living beings in a way, while Gundams are built robots that wear and tear, thank you for explaining it

Don't take the fight animation too seriously it's just for entertainment if it was just one character totally overwhelming the other & then winning effortlessly there's nothing entertaining in that.
