Wielding the Emperor's Sword and clad in the Armour of Fate, the Avenging Son of the Emperor carries the immense burden of salving Humanity's future.

Guiliman is often called "boring" and what not but for me Χε the greatest Primarch. Why? Let me explain. Dude wakes up from a 10,000 years coma and sees what an absolute shitshow the Imperium has become. All of his brothers are gone and his father even told him bluntly: "You and your brother Primarchs were never my sons, you were mere tools to achieve my goals and you failed me... " What does Guiliman do? Does he breaks down with depression? No Does he throw a temper tantrum? No Does he goes over to the side of Chaos? Hell no! He says: "Yeah, the situation is f*cked but it is what it is. Let's put our sleeves up, put in some work and fix this sh*t! Who's with me? " That makes him great.

"Boring" is just used as a synonym for "not conpletely f*cked in the head" when it comes to primarchs. When it comes to a war or faction leader, that's the basis you could have. Other primarchs may have more mystery, grit or power, but who in theor right mind would prefer Nostromo over Ultramar? And of course his unique super powers: Willingmess and ability to learn, strong work ethic and, greatest of all, the root of his superiority over his brethren: Having a MOM, which makes him leagues less succeptible to the daddy issues that plague them all.

All this would still make him a bit basic, but his (in my opinion one of the most defining features) rage is what makes him my favorite. its the reason I think he is the Avenging son. When he goes into righteous rage it makes Khorn berserkers feel inadequate.

I think it's a very unlikely event, but like becoming a millionaire from buying a lottery ticket is incredibly unlikely it does rarely happen, Mortarion does already have someone to take his place on the side of Chaos and the position has Nurgles champion; his old buddy and second in command back before the legion became traitors, Typus or however his name is spelled. . It would almost be fitting except Morty never really seemed to be a "good guy"

What I really appreciate about Guilliman is that he's only "boring" if you look at him from the surface level. In concept alone, he's severely outshone by his brothers. But actually looking at him as a character, those same things that would make you think he's boring are precisely why he's so interesting. Girlyman rules.

Amazing as always big R. Love the ambiguity in Mortarion’s words- to which father was he begging for forgiveness? If it was the emperor, did he mean it? The moment of terror as he is dragged back to Nurgle’s house gives us that tease that beneath the veil of indoctrinated servitude, Mortarion still resents being enslaved to yet another god of pestilence, and perhaps finally does wish that his father could save him in the same way he did from the necromancer on barbaros. Bit of irony that he might now long for such a moment, when resentment of that rescue helped to drive him towards nurgle/away from the emperor’s light Initially.

But, the 5D chess he plays, how he controls literally everything the imperium ,as well of everything else, his own legion along with all his missing or dead brothers legions is astonishing. " Gurlyman" is the absolutely top notch primarch - never backing of a fight, almost died twice, empowered by two gods in the Big E and Ynnead, having a big boobed Aeldar gf and giving zero fcucks about who think what and on top of that he is surpassing all his crazy brothers in Empire making. maintainance and expansion. Boring?! Not the least in my book, the rest are bunch of funny( or not so much) clowns with one or two max interesting traits. The Lion with his " forrest walking" is getting a bit more interesting so we will see.

GW needs to form a faction of marines that in contrast of those who worship the truth of the emperor, believe they have the actual truth about the emperor... Sorta like Catholicism and the protestants, or Christianity and Islam. I mean I guess the fallen dark angels are kinda sorta like that? I just wish they had a schism between those who remain faithful in the traditional way as it's been done for millenia and then in opposition those who believe they have the true will of the emperor and the true way to worship him... Yet have both sides of the schism be wrong obviously. 😊

There are already marines that worship the Emperor as a god, others that still retain most aspects of the Imperial Truth and do not think about him as god, the Iron Hands due their close ties to Mars regard the Emperor the same as the Mechanicus do, as the living avatar of the Omnissiah and there was even a schism in Mars that also extended to the Iron Hands and their succesors, the new belief was declared heretical and the followers of it among the marines were exiled (or left by their own volition) and founded a new chapter with a notable exception, the Red Talons, one of the most brutal chapters of marines, murdered all their members that followed those heretical ideas. So the situation you describe already is taking place within the setting in a way.
