Luckily there's plenty of material on KZbin and I was saved by your react video! How they like a volleyball team beautifully set Mitch up to spike us right in the feels was amazing. Thanks for the video! 👍

Your reaction and emotion at the end was spot on!!! I've watched this video a million times (and listen to PTX "Dog Days" on my iPod almost every time I work out) and Avi ALWAYS kills me at the end. The flood of emotion was palpable from all of them…..Avi was just the one to verbalize it. You'll notice Scott keeps his head down the whole time. Trying to keep the tears at bay I assume. I saw them perform at the end of their last tour here in Texas where the trio grew up. Their parents and family members were in attendance. I got to briefly meet Scott's parents - yes they are as amazing as you would think. Their Choir teacher from high school was also front and center. They pointed her out during the concert and mentioned how nervous they were with her in the audience. I can't even imagine how proud she must be of how far they've come. They are sooooo good live….and fun….and over-the-top entertaining. The attendees ranged in age from toddler to advanced senior. If you have the opportunity - you definitely need to attend a concert. AMAZING!!!

I have watched six KZbin reaction videos to this performance (my favorite PTX performance ever) and this was by far my favorite. You didn’t say anything- but the look on your face of sheer joy, and surprise and being truly entranced made me smile. That is what this performance does- it surprises and delights and just makes you appreciate the amazing talent of these young people. The fact that you were moved to tears in the end was a testament to how moving their music can be. Thanks for the video!

I realy love your reactions. Unlike a lot of other reactioners you realy watch the video, pay attention to it, and react with your expression instead with words. I often get dissapointed when a reacter talks so much over the video that he/she misses important or good parts of a video. And even though you're silent most of the time you can clearly see what you're thinking and if you like the video and the parts etc. Realy enjoy it.
@JackieBorelli8 жыл бұрын
same. I hate when reactors talk too much, and make the video more about them than about the content they're reacting to. Rob & House of Verbs are two of my favorites -- they both really soak in the videos. also, Couple Reacts are fun to watch, and Stephie Soto -- I like reactors who are more invested in what they're watching than in their numbers.

For context... This season of the Sing Off (3rd) they started with 16 groups and they started the season with 8 groups one week and the others the following week until they got it down through eliminations to all the remaining groups performing in the same week. After a few more eliminations, the remaining groups sang two songs each week (as well as an all-combined opening number). This was the second performance of the night for Pentatonix (their mashup being the first) and there were only three remaining groups at this point. Prior to this night, the judges chose the group(s) that were sent home. After this night they opened phone lines for viewer voting. You can imagine why Pentatonix won since this was the final performance before viewer voting! I rarely vote with reality shows but I called a lot that night. The Finale is a bit of a let down because their first number Scott couldn't hear the others at the beginning of their song and you can hear the tentative and somewhat out-of-tune nature of their song, but the votes had already been cast so it didn't really matter at that point. They sang another song with Nick Lachey which is pretty fun and then they sing at the end of the show after they were announced the winners and Kirstie was so emotional that she could hardly sing. They came back on the show for a Christmas special and as a special guest in the following season's finale. Those are both impressive performances for you to check out.
@RobReactor8 жыл бұрын
+David Wilbur I agree, the finale was a bit lackluster. However, they had already won the contest by that point, as you said.

PTX went into this performance convinced that they were going to lose it all. They'd had a disastrous, off-tune dress rehearsal and Scott's voice was fading fast - that vocal fry on his last note was when it gave out entirely. So this was their last chance (they thought) to introduce the world to the wonder that is Mitch Grassi, and they did everything in their power to make it a memorable introduction, at considerable personal cost to Scott. And then they nailed it. Those are tears of joy, and relief, and reaction to the stress that Avi is crying at the end. And they always bring me to tears of grief that he had to leave Pentatonix after wanting to spend the rest of his life with them. Yes, it worked out well for him in the long run - he's successful and seems to be happy. And Matt is wonderful and is well on his way to being spectacular. And I still miss Avi. Fortunately, it's not a competition - it's okay to love both Matt and Avi, and it's okay to be happy for Avi's current success even while missing his presence in Pentatonix. Life is full of mixed emotions, I've found.

I heard that Scott lost hid voice during the week and they were prepared to settle for second, not knowing what Scott would be able to perform. The whole troop, starting with Kirstin who also was losing her voice before Born to be Wild. Like the true performers they already were, even when so young and inexperienced the professional attitude they already had made them perform beyond what was expected of them. At the end of this segment Scott’s voice was so rough and gritting because he had very little left to give. They were “professionals “ as early as this. Digging down deep to give the very best they had. Kirsten and Scott showed what true professionals are willing to do to make their performance the best it could be. None of the judges admitted that Kirstins voice had been affected by the strain she, and the others, were under. Then, the week of the final performance their lead vocalist completely lost his voice. Second place was all they were hoping for when they began the song. But Scott came through, as hard and as tough as it was and his voice demonstrated just how hard this last, make or break, performance was on him. And like the others, through the years, he showed what a true professional can do. Mitch had to stop on tour at an emergency clinic for throat problems, but he still performed at their next venue as if nothing was wrong. These were and have been professionals from the very beginning. Image how they must have felt realizing that with Scott’s voice problem, they were going to loose the show. But they went out anyway to perform the very best they could and, as before, Scott reached deep down and found enough to give a stunning performance. I my opinion that demonstrated what a true professional he had already become. Just like Kirsten did. And Mitch too. They may have been only 19 during the Sing Off, but they were all acting as experienced professionals with many years of performing already completed. Sorry this was so long, but a great ‘shoutout’ is due Scott on this one night when his lose of voice earlier in that week convinced them that they wouldn’t win. But they did, in my opinion due to Scott showing what a true professional he was and is. I’m sure each of them have stories about how they were sure they couldn’t perform well, but when the chips were down, they came through. I’m simply floored by the evidence of such high levels of professionalism they showed in those earliest years. They are a phenomenon beyond question. I just hope they continue to perform and amaze us, their audience and fans, well into the future. A 50th anniversary of their Sing Off win would be something to look forward to.
