Hey Rob, Great video! The blue crawfishes were so cute! The snake was a brown water snake, so non-venomous. They would rather slither away than attack. There are a lot of non-venomous snakes that puff up their heads when they get scared. They mimic venomous snakes as a defense mechanism. I hope you find a new place soon! You might check with whatever city department is responsible for the sewers and canals, but I believe, as long as you stay in the water and do not get out on people's property you are allowed to be in the water and "fish". My apologies in advance if you already knew that. Having that knowledge may not help you with the Grandma FBI types, but you are at least within your rights in case the police get called on you. I’m a toad expert that is indeed a cane toad but it’s color is like that because he was in the dark for a while and he was practically a baby so I’m glad you were very nice to it Edit: the snake was a water mochisin very deadly be careful around them they can cause 10 adult deaths with they’re venom

Jewel cichlids may be common in your area, but they're still sought after fish... What I would do if I lived around there, find THE BEST jewel cichlid. Keep catching better and better until you find the GOAT (best color and best jeweling)! Release anything less than the best.

I agree that the Karen needs to get a life, but that is not public at all. The water and 10-15ft of the bank is owned by water management district and its they’re decision to allow or not allow public access. I live on a canal and I’ve also been kicked off public owned land by an fwc officer for fishing. It’s bs really, but it’s just the way it is🤷‍♂️

It’s tricky with the trespassing, because south Florida water management owns the canal systems. It’s overseen by fwc and army corps engineers. However, the canals are all different on what is allowed. Some are open public access and some are completely private. U don’t know until you get caught basically. Cops or fwc will tell u to leave or give warning first offense( as long as u don’t get caught doing something else illegal), so I wouldn’t worry about it till u get a warning from law enforcement. It’s annoying cuz I got kicked out of a spot and the fwc officer literally said “It’s public and private, taxpayers pay for it but you’re not allowed on it” which makes no sense but still got a written warning and threatened to get arrested if he see me there again 🤦🏻‍♂️🤬
