Back in the day when I was in college (mid to late '90s), there was a jukebox in the student center and it was set to play everything for free. This was one of the records they had in there and It got played multiple times a day LOL. I'm sure people probably got sick of it but I always loved hearing it come on!

Their most popular song is "Every Rose Has its Thorn", which is a ballad. But my favorite ballad by them is"Something to Believe In". Another fun song by them is "Nothing But a Good Time". This was definitely my era and almost everything was about FUN, and damn I miss that!

YES!! I think “Something to believe in” is superior to “Every rose has its thorn” too. I always loved Poison and all the ‘80’s hair bands, that was my era too. A couple of my first album buys with my own money from my first job were Ratt and Twisted Sister 😂 Those were a little before Poison and Motley Crew came to be well known, which I’m sure you remember. I rocked spiked leather bracelets as a preteen because of Ratt 😂 I even have pics of me sporting my big hair throughout my teenage years to prove it too 😂🤣😂🤣

@@NativeNYerChicHK I know that Every Rose Has its Thorn was written about Brett's ex, but Something to Believe In has so much more raw emotion in my opinion. I loved Twisted Sister! They gave the P. M. R. C. hell.

Listen to their song "Something to believe in".NOT about sex, drugs or rock and roll. All about serious social issues. And,it's a beautiful song. It's a classic.I highly recommend it,so you can get a better opinion of them than a silly "hair band",singing about nothing but "sex, drugs and rock and roll".I think that stereotype is what brought about "power ballads".These bands wanted to show that, although they are mostly about good times and partying, they are also serious musicians, who can write serious, though provoking songs about serious love and about social issues.

Poison is a fun band, they were great live too. Can’t really think of a bad song. Tons of fun songs with this kind of vibe and several excellent ballads as well. Always viewed them as a bit lighter than Motley Crue. MC had a much heavier sound, but they were all singing about the same stuff mostly.

Saw them back in '90 with Warrant then saw them again 20 years later with Ratt. They really did not lose a step and unlike Vince Neil(saw MC with Alice Cooper about 8 years ago), Bret did not lose the ability to keep up with all the lyrics.

Poison was just as energetic live as they portrayed in the video. Bret Michaels (lead singer) has enough energy and charisma to fuel an entire arena. He was actually one of the very few who didn't go hard into drugs. He has diabetes so he's always been very health conscious. Probably why he ages so well. He didn't kill his body like the rest of us did, lol.

For this band, I suggest "Unskinny Bop" and "Every Rose Has Its Thorn". They have a ton of songs, but those 2 showcase different aspects of their music. Brett Michaels is the leader. Still has those beautiful blue eyes and gorgeous smile. He was diagnosed with type I diabetes back in the sixties, when he was 6 years old and had to learn to manage his disease from the beginning with multiple insulin shots daily. He has done a lot for kids with diabetes and has been an advocate for not letting your disease stop you from reaching your dreams. Aside from that, he has had other health problems over the years, including the discovery or a congenital hole in his heart. Most babies who are born with this condition outgrow it, I guess you could say, because it will eventually close on its own. Some, like Brett's never do and have to be handled later in life. Many other things have happened, but he has managed to survive and thrive.

Having grown up in the 80s Poison for my circle of friends was considered a poser band. They played well, they had good but radio friendly songs they were very glammed up But they were not bad boys. The girls love them especially Bret Michaels the singer and they wanted their boyfriends to be like them and all the boys wanted to be either like somebody from motley Crue or someone from Guns N’ Roses or Metallica, a hell of a lot more edgy. Now Brett Michaels is certainly a class act and is still somewhat relevant in music but in no way shape or form can they be compared to motley Crue. The crew will forever be known as the bad boys of rock ‘n’ roll and they earned it. You really need to see the movie The Dirt on Netflix about them

Dudes!!! This song came out when I was in 5th grade and it was our FAVORITE !!!! We would write T.D.T.M. on our notebooks and stuff trying to get one over on the “grownups” lol… never thought about anything other than the song was a BLAST. Saw Poison in concert when I was 14 and it was so fun! Good times!

Poison was just fvcking fun!!! They didn’t take themselves too seriously. When they did get serious though it was beautiful. Oh and you said something about the heaviest 80’s metal band, you forgot Guns and roses, metallics, pantera, ozzy, mega death and Iron Maiden were all 80’s. I’m loving your videos. I love seeing people who appreciate music discovering decades of music and really getting it. I was born in 76 so I grew up with so much great music of all genres from 50’s 60’s 70’s 80’s 90’s and the 00’s and then something happened. There was a major lull in heavier rock coming out, while country was getting more like southern rock and picking up speed. While also becoming more pop. Which brings us to now where there is so much music to be discovered and rediscovered. You’ve pick out some really great songs.

Poison was my band! I had posters, every album and can still sing along to almost every song. The funniest part is the fact that it was my mom who introduced me to hair bands. She was listening to rock while I was listening to country in the 80's. I was born in 1975 so I was 5 - 15 and it was the best time for rock IMO.

My very first concert, at 13 years old, was a Poison concert. My Dad took me. The date was February 8, 1989. I still have my ticket.😜 Awesome concert and one of the best times I ever had with my Dad. Poison was an epic band! Check out their song “Every Rose Has Its Thorn”. Also, you guys are pretty damn awesome as well! Much Love!!❤️

Motley Crue we’re the founding fathers of 80s Hair bands. They started the whole big hair and makeup(unlike Kiss’ whole face makeup) it was a sexy makeup look. Motley Crue we’re all about sex, sex, and drugs, where Poison were Motley Crue light. Poison were the pretty boys of hair metal.

@@utubnagain Wasn’t it fun? It’s all there was to do! Once we had a car, we worked for gas money. In the Summertime, Friday and Saturday nights were for cruising around looking at Mustangs, Trans-Ams, cute boys and big hair. Good times.

I grew up in the 80s and my elder sister listened to this kind of music for a while. She was always listening to Poison, Motley Crew, Deff Leppard, Europe, White snake, Scorpions, Bon Jovi, Kiss...as well as some Pink Rock like The Clash or Ramones. I only realize now how fortunate I was as a kid and I can't thank enough my big sister for the free education.
