Sadly, this feel-good music is no more. That's what I loved about the disco era...all of it was feel-good music that just made you wanna sing or get up and dance your tush off! I was really sad when disco faded. What came after disco is trash! ☹☹☹

The audience close-ups show Dionne Warwick and Bernadette Peters, who is a queen of Broadway musicals. Kool and the Gang have a great string of hits and you can easily find more to hear. Seeing Dionne in the audience reminds me of the tribute show that was for her which features one of the best live music videos on the internet - Luther Vandross singing "A House Is Not a Home". If you choose the right video, it will blow you away!

This is the best of the best by Kool and the Gang. I feel this song started the phenomenon of "Ladies Nights" at all the clubs! This song was a mega hit in the late seventies (1979). This song brought everyone to the dance floor then and it still does today! They were super successful in the seventies and eighties with a string of hits like; "Too Hot", "Celebration", "Joanna", "Cherish", and more! ❤❤
@Musicvegan01

The "Saturday Night Fever" soundtrack was a 2 record set (or 1 8-track tape) when it was originally released. The majority of it was previously released songs, like "Disco Inferno" by The Trammps which y'all recently reacted to. The Kool & The Gang song on it is "Open Sesame", which is pre- James JT Taylor (the lead singer here). Their very early stuff had a more jazz sound & was sometimes instrumental like "Summer Madness", which you might have heard sampled in "Summertime" by DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince. Madonna wasn't out yet when "Ladies Night" was released in 1979, that was Bernadette Peters in the audience, an actress/singer.

AMBER AND J, YOU HAVE TO HEAR JUNGLE BOOGIE BY THEM! IT'S ICONIC! It's funny because the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack was the very first 8-track that my parents bought when they finally went and got us a home stereo system from Kmart in the early to mid 70s. And it's a fantastic soundtrack and the Bee Gees are only on a couple of them. Disco Inferno by the Disco band Tramp, was a huge huge deal and the whole soundtrack is really really good.

Oh what a night. I love Kool & the gang. I was into big band music but I was a little kid. And being it was the Disco era. These men did the best job of smashing the two together. I also play the trumpet, so when those horns blow you got to get on your feet! At least I do. They also brought a word to our vocabulary a word you don't hear any more. This music was downright "funk", a one-of-a-kind groove. I agree with you, how can that audience just sit there!!! They even mix some Marvin Gaye in. Sophisticated mama, what a voice for a generation.

One of my favorites from Kool and the Gang! The best songs are from their early 70s hits, 'Hollywood Swinging', 'Jungle Boogie', 'Open Sesame' (from soundtrack Saturday Night Fever,). Great band.

Lil' Kim sampled this song awhile back for a multi-artist song called "Not Tonight (Ladies Night Remix) (1996): featuring Missy Elliott, Lisa "Left-Eye" Lopes, Da Brat, and Angie Martinez.

Great song! If you ever watch Family Matters, the girl who played Steve Urkel's girlfriend, Michelle Thomas is the daughter of one of the Gang...Dennis Thomas.

Making me smile.😀 I remember when clubs had "ladies night" and women got free or discounted drinks--great for getting people in because if the ladies are there, the men will also want to be there. I took some prelaw classes in the 80's and seem to remember some guy brought a discrimination case against "ladies night" we don't have ladies nights anymore. 😒

The song on the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack is Open Sesame, which is great but you've gotta hear Hollywood Swinging. It's the ultimate funky Kool and the Gang song!

I remember as kid in the late 70's and early 80's watching "Solid Gold" and "Soul Train" after watching Saturday morning cartoons. I am pretty sure that is where I first heard this sing. Oh, how I miss those early years no worries but just having fun, playing and listening to music.

Ladies Night is a great vibe of a song coming from this great band which sang great songs starting from the late 70's right into the mid 80's! (I've listened to it very many times). Other great songs from this great band you could react to are: Joanna, Victory, Cherish (a great ballad), Emergency, Hi De Hi Hi De Ho, Celebration (This was big), Steppin' Out and Let's Go Dancin' (This was very big too) Thank you for playing this and you're greatly appreciated! Have a very good day!
