If I've heard correctly wasn't this like the first Disco hit, wasn't it?......I remember a documentary about Disco and I remember this song being a big deal because it was the drummer that came up with what they called the 4 on the Floor drum beat, which was for 4 beats per measure with the base drum (the floor pedal) drum and prior to that almost every song was beats on 1 and 3 or 2 and 4 ...but that 4 on the floor was 1 2 3 and 4, and that really became what made disco distinct from RnB was that 4 beats per measure.
@androlibre9661

I just went down a mini youtube rabbit hole because I couldnt remember exactly, but this wasn't the first Disco hit but the drummer's for the Tramp's name is Earl Young, and he is credited for inventing the four on the floor beat pattern (as it was used in Disco), and there's a clip on KZbin "Earl Young Explains his Revolutionary Disco Beat" and the man himself explains it.....and damn what that man can do with a set of drums

That is absolutely true. From House to Hi-NRG to a lot of Techno to today's beats, it all has its origin in that 4-on-the-floor, metronomic seventies disco beat. You tell some people that and they disagree, but it's true. Seventies disco was the first "beats per minute" music.

Always loved it, but as an aspiring rock and roll guitar player... had to say I hated Disco.🤣🤣. I was about 18 at the height of disco. We used to wear beautiful dresses and the guys wore suits. The clubs had dance floors that lit from underneath. What a blast! I danced with 19 guys one night, no strings attached, because dancing is what we came there for. One club had rock upstairs and disco downstairs, and the floors were connected with a big spiral slide. What a hoot! When you heard the opening to this song, you made a beeline for the dance floor!

This song is definitely in the top 3 of best disco songs ever made. Other songs you can react to from this genre are GEORGECMCCRAE with ROCK YOUR BABY. This song is thought of as the first true disco hit that introduced the world to the genre. Then you have the song DON’T LEAVE ME THIS WAY. This was originally sung by HAROLD MELVIN AND THE BLUE NOTES but I prefer the version by THE COMMUNARDS as you get a great dance track which is a bit more 80’s. Then there’s EDWIN STARR who had several great songs WAR, CONTACT and THATS THE WAY. Finally one of the best is AMII STEWART with KNOCK ON WOOD.

Studio 54 was open in the early 80s, but dance music started around '73 with Barry White and Love Unlimited, until "81-2. By then it was getting more synth-y like Yazoo with "Situation", less disco-y. @@alrivers2297

My big sis is four years older then me. She was in the clubs disco dancing. She would show me the new moves & we would disco dance in our bedroom. They would call her Donna Summer in the club. Now she deals with Parkinson's & all we have are memories. We also use to sing together in our bedroom to like Heart music & all the strong women back in our day. Your channel brings back memories with all this music. I watch you all every night!! ❤❤

I am so happy to hear you young folks embrace Disco! During the late seventies, I was a teenager. Your understanding of the culture and tastes which prevailed during that era accurately reflect much of what I saw and heard. This song from the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack was emblematic of the late '70s culture. Disco.... Yaaay! Continue with the great reactions!

This is Disco, it's meant to be played on a good sound system at a nightclub. Instead of the 3-minute radio versions, you have to hear the extended 12-inch remixes, which were the ones played at the discos back then. Check out Tom Moulton's 10-minute remix of "Disco Inferno". The best disco remix ever.

So, I was about 22 years old in the early 80's. I graduated HS around '78, so disco was right there. I mean, I/we had the polyester shirts, pants, and platform shoes. Not too big. But, let me tell you, this song was one of THE most popular song in the dance clubs. So, we had a local restauranteur who had a few restaurants with lighted, colorful floors that people could dance on. It was great. But, yeah, this song along with many others are still played a lot in stores and coffee places. KC, Donna Summer. Yup!

The Towering Inferno was a popular disaster movie at the time. The Twin Towers in NYC were still new, and a movie about being trapped in a major high rise fire hit the zeitgeist perfectly. This song trailed right on that train and became an instant hit.

True story (If you care to read)… I was DJing multi state in the ‘80s and ‘90s. Block parties and more. I hit everyone with a vast span of music, you just never knew what was coming next from my 3 1200 turntables. Anyways, I’m performing a set and people starting screaming. And they wouldn’t stop. I’m thinking, man they are really digging the music. Turns out they’d been trying to get my attention 😂. There was a candle on the table that caught my table on fire. I hurried and put the fire out, and what did I drop next?! You got it: Disco Inferno. The crowd went wild. Wild! And we partied for a few more hours non-stop until everyone was exhausted. That period of time was unmatched. You did grow up in the wrong era.

Disco was about SO much more than just great music. It was about celebration... And it brought EVERYONE together. We had just come out of a long war which, arguably, we shouldn't have ever entered. People everywhere were exhausted and hurting from seeing so much destruction and misery brought into our homes, in full color, for FAR too long... And from fighting the powermongers to end it and bring the boys home in something other than bodybags. It was a time to reunite, grieve our losses and heal our wounds... And then PARTY until after dawn at every opportunity. Never was the nightclub scene so big or so awesome as those disco-era years. What a time to be young! 🫶🤟
