Bjorn wrote the lyrics of this song about his and Agnetha's daughter Linda. So VERY many beautiful songs by Abba. Their daughter was born 4 days before me on February 23rd 1973. Hard to believe as I am 51 now. This was written when she was about 8 years old.

Alright so i am from sweden, and we swedes are very proud over ABBA! in my oppinion ABBA is the best group ever. And for the people that says they dont like abba songs they are lieing to themselfs. Its impossible to not enjoy abba music 😊
@HolgerJakobs18 күн бұрын
Too bad you Swedes didn't appreciate them more in their heydays. They were more popular in the rest of Europe and in Australia, while in Sweden many people said that they are just producing mainstream pop music. They just didn't realize the intricacies and the depth of the songs.

@HolgerJakobs that is not really true, abba is a loved group in sweden. But there will always be people that dont like certain things, i can only speak for myself but i love abba songs, but you are correct that for in example australia abba was really huge

Not only moms but fathers as well. At 69 I think back on my two boys as they grew. All the things we wanted to do and never got the chance, all the 'events' which occur as they grow. My wife and I lost our oldest in 2019 at the age of 38 and are now raising his three children, two boys, 19, 18, and a girl, 16. We talk often of their Dad and stories of his younger years.

I recommended this song a while back & I thank you both for this reaction video. Once the song started I watched Amber's emotions come through the same way my mother's did when she heard it for the first time & it was beautiful. When this song came out in 1981, My mother & sister were dealing with hard times between them. One night, my mom & I were on the way home from work & I played "Slipping Through My Fingers" in the car for her. She told me to pause the tape & we pulled over to the side of the road to listen to it. It brought tears to our eyes! When we got home, my mom & sister patched things up permanently & became closer. There was only love between them till our mother passed in 2000. Everyone should hear this song!

This sweetly melancholy ballad is from what was until recent years ABBA's last album, 1981's The Visitors. On the original release it was the last-but-one track, and led into another ballad, the almost eerie Like An Angel Passing Through My Room, with a stunning solo lead by Frida Lyngstad. At the end of this audio you've listened to here, you hear a clock ticking. That runs right through the other song, along with what sounds like a music box, accompanying Frida. It is absolutely gorgeous. Give it a listen... Oh. And on the subject of songs written for/about an artist's children...also listen to Goodnight My Angel by Billy Joel and, especially, Forever Now by Michael Buble...

Not only can this apply to a Mom or Dad sending off their child to school, but it can also mean, as Amber said, apply to a parent/child relationship at so many other points in life. Even watching an elderly loved one getting older knowing it may not be long before they are not with us anymore...on this side!! Hello from Southern Spain!! First of all, let me tell you both that I am really happy to have discovered your First Reaction Videos. Sometimes I must see some of them without a pause, as you both transmit this contagious good energy that actually traverses the ocean and reaches me, for which I am indebted to you. And as to this song from ABBA, I have been an ABBA fan for years, actually since they won the Eurovision Song Contest with "Waterloo". Whenever I listen to "Slipping Through My Fingers" I can´t help it at all and let a couple of tears fall as I am aware of how fragile our lives are and aware too of how unconsciously we move from task to task without even realising time has already gone by. And if you would like to have a double portion of sad, but authentic feelings, just as this song finishes, there is clock ticking... and there comes "Like An angel Passing Through My Room": pure feelings of solitude and sadness. Bless you both and all the community forever.

Chris de burgh'' "Here for you" deals with similar themes. It's about him having to let his girl explore the world for herself ("And now a plane must take away, my child that life has found. And you will be up in the sky, and I'll be on the ground). His daughter won Miss World at 19 and sings backing vocals on the track. It is well worth a listen.
