I first heard 'Angeleyes' by ABBA when it came out in the summer of '79. I was a young man, and the song was a breath of fresh air-a catchy pop tune with an intriguing message. The song is a warning to women about a man with a deceptive nature, luring them in with his innocent gaze, but in reality, he's a player. Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus from ABBA wrote this song, and it's interesting how they flipped the script, empowering women to be cautious of such men. It's a fun, upbeat song with a subtle yet powerful message. Over the years, 'Angeleyes' has remained a favorite for many, and it's great to see it finding new life on TikTok, showing that ABBA's music truly transcends generations.

@@timradde4328 It may be that you did not recall "The Day Before You Came" because it was a later single - and not on one of their studio albums. It was released after "The Visitors" (1981) album and on a compilation album "The Singles - The First Ten Years" (1982). Another good, later single was "Under Attack" which I believe was their last released song prior to the group's break-up in 1982.

Epic! Angeleyes was another masterpiece from the stellar album Voulez Vous. The opening song is “As Good As New.” If you play that one, you will be speechless. When you think ABBA cannot improve upon what you have already heard, you hear songs from the Voulez Vous album and you think- how is this even possible! Their follow up album Super Trooper has a beautiful song called “Andante Andanda.” ABBA song reviews could even be its own KZbin channel. I wouldn’t be surprised if graduate students have studied the group for their thesis.

Jay and Amber, it’s been a pleasure and a privilege to watch your musical journey and the growth in your knowledge of all the fabulous artists and songs that so many of us grew up on. It’s funny now to go back to the brick wall episodes and see how green you really were and to see how far you’ve come now ✌️
@Carrie-so3ro6 ай бұрын
I remember watching in those early days before Amber even came on the channel & how much musically they have grown & opened up. (Their looks & even demeanors have even changed since then!) It IS wonderful to witness - & fun to go back & re-watch those early episodes. I love in some of the early episodes where J. may look at a performer or group ie. the Rolling Stones (I don't remember if this was one or U2 etc.) & say that he/they had never heard of them & are they a one hit wonder. I bet they would be embarrassed if they were made to witness those early episodes on camera - but they ARE from a completely different generation & it is so good to see how they HAVE LEARNED so much about all of our classic music (or let's face it - music - as I don't characterise talking to a beat with no or next to no instrumentation as music [rap "music"] - as J. was solely used to .) There are so many good & bad things about the internet, but one of the good things is the chance for young people to have these music reaction channels & learn what music used to be & about those songs & groups we used to know so well. Take care J. & Amber & continue to enjoy & learn. There is STILL so much out there that you haven't even touched on yet that were big (groups & even international styles of music that you haven't gotten to - outside of ABBA & some Canadian, Australian, UK stuff.) We have MUCH MORE for you to discover & more music from bands you haven't heard enough to solidify their sounds in your minds yet. It will still take time - but we are here for your continuing journey. By the way Amber, you two now ARE - Officially - part of "the cool kids" - (while many of your generation are still left behind - for now.)

"Angeleyes" (1979) is a good disco-style song (7pts), w ithin album disco-style "Voulez Vous" (with the exception of the ballads "Chiquitita" and "I have a dream") that ABBA recorded following the influences of disco music in North America with Bee Gees hits It was together, with "Voulez Vous" as double A-side, the third single from said album, it reached #3 in UK In this album I prefer other songs of that style: "As good as new" (the opening track) the tittle track, "Voulez Vous" ore one special that come soon "If it wasn''t for the nights" but these tuned is loved for the fans and was trendiing in Tik Tok a year ago, with a lot of streaming in Spotify Unfortunaly it haven't a official video or TV perfomanece I see you in next ABBA vídeo My best regards from Buenos Aires Argentina 🇦🇷 South America

@eduardooscar309 : Angeleyes didn't get a video because as you pointed out it was a double A side, so they made a video of the second A song Voulez Vous for the release which was shown on television at the time, however, at least in the UK Angeleyes got played on the radio more so both songs got exposure in different formats. Pity though no video.

Benny and Bjorn produced ABBA themselves all through the band's career. Remember ABBA was the second act of the careers of the members, who were all successful in Sweden before ABBA, so the guys had plenty of studio experience from day one. But their legendary sound engineer Michael B Tretow must also be mentioned. He both innovated recording techniques himself and figured out the secret tricks of the big producers in L.A., New York and London. He took ABBA to the next level in terms of sound. They could hardly have made it without him. And unlike a lot of contemporary stuff it still holds up. Also, a shout out to the trusted group of session musicians who played on those albums. They contributed greatly to those classics. (Although Benny's keyboard work is typically very prominent).

Benny and Bjorn write and produce the ABBA catalogue. ABBA are now performing on stage again, after Benny and Bjorn put together an Avatar gig.🎉

Glad you got back to ABBA, so many great hits to explore. Have fun! Btw, Angel Eyes is a movie with Jennifer Lopez. I suggest their song "Kisses Of Fire."

ABBA (Benny & Bjorn) excel at catchy tunes, be it writing, performance or production.
