The thing with MJ was, he wasn't only extremely SHARP, he was incredibly PRECISE, almost on the absurd level, he always produced his choreographies exactly how he wanted, the way he wanted,. At the final result of every video, he knew exactly where evryone was standing, every step, every prop, everything he knew EXACTLY where it was going to be. Such an artist.

I was 15 years old and living in Lake Tahoe when the Jackson 5 came. I saw them two nights in a row. On the 2nd night, my friend and I were called on stage to dance. The next day we drove over to the house that the performers used to stay at. When we got there Janet and Randy (who were little) came out to hang with us. We could see Michael and asked them if they would ask him to come and meet us. He was so quiet and shy but he did come over. I still have the picture I took of him ❤sitting on my mom’s car!

I knew an old man in a nursing home, yes, a NURSING HOME, that I worked at back in the 80's to early 90's, he had been a dancer "back in the day" we asked him if he knew about MJ's moonwalk - and he did, he was still a pretty sharp old man, anyway we asked him if he could do it and he said that it's basically an old "step-slide" that all good dancers could do "back in the day" we asked him if he could do it, and he kind of laughed and said and "well now Michael has put his own spin on it but I can do something a lot like it" and we were like "Show us, come on" and well, we were all in total shock when Lonnie (who was around 84-85 at the time) stepped off a real nice imitation of the Moonwalk. Then he said "Now, that's my way, Michael has his way, but that's my way" He then told us he knew that Michael had studied all of the old dancers like Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly and the Nicholas Brothers and other famous dancers and then took what he learned and made his own style, took it farther and that's what made Michael so good. So in answer to Jordan's question - it's Michael's variation and improvement of the old "step-slide"

There’s nothing new under the sun. Michael didn’t invent the moonwalk, he just put it in the mainstream. I’d seen a friend do it long before Michael popularized it. I totally grew up with Michael, and Janet, and all the greats...I'm now 56, and STILL watch their video's and my play lists include them, and our generation had the BEST music for sure! :-) Michael was the first to use a "movie like concept" in music video's it was ahead of the times. As far as the move in one of the documentaries they had slits made in the floor for their shoes that held them in place where they could lean forward without falling.

CPR can help save a life during cardiac arrest, when the heart stops beating or beats too ineffectively to circulate blood to the brain and other vital organs. To perform CPR, first: CHECK the scene for safety, form an initial impression and use personal protective equipment (PPE). Next: If the person appears unresponsive, CHECK for responsiveness, breathing, life-threatening bleeding or other life-threatening conditions using shout-tap-shout. Then: Kneel beside the person. Place the person on their back on a firm, flat surface. After that: Give 30 chest compressions by placing two hands centered on the chest. Next: push both hands downward at least 2 inches. Make sure to keep pressing at a 100 to 120 Beats Per Minute or BPM. Afterwards: Allow chest to return to normal position after each compression. Give 2 breaths by performing mouth to mouth resuscitation, and also to Pinch the nose shut, take a normal breath. It was always an experience to watch his new masterpiece. I think next just because Jay will like it, Black or White or he will really appreciate Man in the Mirror. Anti gravity boots, the boots hooked into the floor or a secured board. It still took enormous core strength to maintain the angle. There's a video out there of him using it live where he did lose his balance. If you look up the boots it shows how they work better. Earth Song is still my absolute favourite MJ to this day. It's such a close your eyes, Amber Sway song. Introduce that one to Jordan!

Beat it was another outstanding production. Eddie Van Halen played the guitar solo in stealth mode (uncredited) because there might have been some legal considerations about playing original music outside his own band. He also spent a few minutes alone rearranging the song without telling anyone until he told MJ. MJ absolutely loved it and the rest is history ❤

Eddie was uncredited for that solo because he didn't care about getting paid for it. Anyone that receives song-writing credit for a song gets royalties for that song. He didn't want them. He did it for free as a favor to Quincy Jones. And he did it BECAUSE, at the time, a lot of African-American artists were not getting the exposure on MTV that white artists were getting (yes, even MJ). So they figured that getting a white guy (and not just any white guy, but freakin' EDDIE VAN HALEN) to play on the song would get it more airtime. FUN FACT: Eddie's solo in "Beat It" is only 20 seconds long, but it took like a half hour to record. At one point, Eddie *literally* BLEW UP his monitor amp playing the solo, so they had to find another one.🤣

"Regardless of your thoughts of him..." I'm 50 and grew up listening to him and the Jackson Five. I was a huge fan. I still am. I witnessed all the "controversy" surrounding him throughout the decades. Michael Jackson was one of the most unique humans I've ever seen. His childhood was stolen because of how great his and his family's talent was. They worked, probably harder than they wanted to. He missed out on a lot of things and I know his dad was pretty hard on him. Love this song and all of MJs music! His talent was unlike anyone...we all loved him back in the day. I was so lucky to grow up during these times. I loved being a kid during this time. The music was so good. Entertainers were trained in several fields and were truly amazing. Today it seems like everyone is a one trick pony. Music is overproduced and manufactured. Many artists can't really sing, their voices are run through the soundboard. It's just not the same. There are some that stand out but not many. That's why I still listen to 80s and 90s music.

I love this story, because I was a nurse in a nursing home for a little while, and I absolutely loved learning from the residents! I came away from that job a better person with a wonderful appreciation for what you could learn from older generations. Also, do your research if you have to put your loved one in a care facility, there’s some horrible facilities out there just looking for the cheapest way to make a buck off of your loved ones’ illnesses and last days.

Just watched this video and wanted to remark that when Jay says, "Yeah, Michael can do it anything, but look those other guys are doing it too so how'd they do it?" This video is my favorite to show off MJs dancing and choreography skills. So clean. I am the same age as Mike and grew up watching the Jackson 5 when they first began. He was such a cute little boy with so much energy. I remember him performing on Ed Sullivan, Andy Williams and all of the variety shows of the day. I also watched him when he left the J5 and the drama of that to start his solo career with Off The Wall. I remember Thriller being released and all the praise he got for his MTV videos off that album. Watching him receive all those grammy awards, watching his dates with Brook Shields and Tatum O'Neil. Watching him carry around little Emmanual Lewis and his chimp. Creating Neverland. I think that is what started people thinking of him as a child. Marrying Lisa Marie. People wondering if he ever had sex. Marrying Debbie Rowe knowing that he did it so she would give him kids. Then the scandals. Mike was always in the media. The more he did, the more the media starting saying how weird he was. He couldn't get away from it. People knew the kindness of his soul and would use it to extort money from him and he just wanted privacy so it was easier to pay them off so they would go away. Unfortunately, he only stirred up people believing his was guilty by paying off the accusers. The poor man died in debt because of his spending, generosity to charities and children that he loved. He was humiliated until he left our country. Because Michael was 'different' he was always accused of so many ridiculous things it got to the point people started to look at his peculiarities instead of his talent. Being one of the most famous people on earth he was always in the limelight and when he tried to seclude himself and his children, the media just made up stuff making him look stranger and stranger. It was a no-win for him. Even after his death. His fans will always believe in him and his talent cannot be denied. But he died way to young by a man he trusted to look after him, but, again, only wanted money from him. His talent will live on in his music and videos and his fans will never stop loving him. The people that bought in to all of the media lies are the ones who are suffering the loss of one of the most brilliant entertainers of all time. We will see you again, Michael, as you entertain all in heaven. RIP sweet prince.

The ‘Lean’ was done with special shoes where the heel hooked into a peg on the floor as an anchor point. Some people say it was MJ himself that designed the shoe and peg system. The physical strength needed to do that move is incredible! MJ and those dancers must have been fit to an epic standard as they would have needed to do that several times to get all the camera angles. In my opinion MJ’s private life was exactly that, Private!

My friend choreographed this video with MJ. It is iconic and classic. The "lean" changed the game. Will You Be There, Earth Song, Scream, Leave Me Alone, Heal The World. There are no entertainers like him, or Prince or Madonna anymore, but it is really hard to describe how big a star MJ was in the 80s. That level of fame can never be achieved again now because of the internet and how much access we have to celebrity lives. Back then we didn't. So the mystery was much more and his superstar status was supernova worldwide. It was a family event to watch his appearances on TV, or try to see his videos on TV. That level of fame isn't possible anymore.
