Woo! Y'all have made my night with this one! I didn't grasp the context of this song either as a kid but now with adult ears I love it so much more. "I Know" is the first single from Dionne's debut album, Wild Seed - Wild Flower (1994); it peaked at #4 on the Hot 100 and spent 10 consecutive weeks at #1 on the Billboard Top 40/Mainstream chart, becoming that ranking's most successful song of 1995. Please react to Dionne Farris - "Hopeless" and Arrested Development - "Tennessee."

I’m sorry, how is it possible that this song was the most successful song of 1995, when Mariah Carey’s One Sweet Day was #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for 16 weeks, and that record wasn’t broken until Lil Nas X’s Old Town Road ?

In a Facebook group someone commented that she was curious about what Dionne was up to, and that she (the commenter) hadn't heard anything from her since "Hopeless." I pointed out this song, which I love. Her reaction? "Well... I don't know if I have time to sit down and listen to some country music." ? 🤯 You wondered what Dionne was up to. Does it *not matter* because it's not R&B? Which was exactly what Amber was talking about. BTW it's Southern rock, not country.
