I would say; Gene, "The insufferable, narcissistic blowhard". I give a lot of ground to rockers (with marginal talent) who have issues with a cadre of weaknesses. Gene's weakness is himself. I hate to even comment and give him pub, but he truly blows. ...Demon? ...Pleah. Go sit and spin jerkoff.

For me at least this song is a great example of what's been called 'survivorship bias". The vast majority of other disco-era music hasn't stood the test of time and happily I've completely forgotten most of it. For me this one survived because it was a catchy song.

Not just a hit for Kiss, but this song also was the break-out song for Desmond Child, who wrote the song with Paul Stanley. Because after it became a hit, Desmond Child became a sought after songwriter. In fact, it was when Bon Jovi played opening slots for Kiss in the early eighties, when Jon Bon Jovi asked Paul Stanley if he wanted to write songs together with him. Stanley declined, but told Jon, “I know just the guy!” So which Bon Jovi tunes did Desmond Child write for the band? - You gave love a bad name - Bad Medicine - Living on a prayer. And after those songs became big hits, the door was opened and people began to seek out Desmond Child. Scoring him hits for Joan Jett (I hate myself for loving you), Aerosmith (Dude, looks like a lady), Ricky Martin (Livin' la vida loca) among others.

Fun fact: when Paul Stanley showed Gene Simmons the first bit of lyrics for the first time, he was like, "Ooh yeah, yeah, _I wanna give it all to you,_ I know what *that* means!" He was really digging it the way through the next few lines, until he asked "Okay, what's my part?" - *doo doo doo, do-doo, do-doo, doo doo* - "Really? You're kiddin' me". Gene stopped DEAD in his tracks. He _really_ wanted to strangle Paul at that point. So ultimately, Paul ended up singing the "doo doo doo" part as Gene to this day will not have a bar of it 😂

Gene Simmons (the demon)is the face of KISS, Paul Stanley(starchild)is the heart of kiss and criminally underappreciated as a singer songwriter and frontman. The fan favorites are Ace Frehley(space ace or spaceman)on lead guitar and Peter Criss (the catman)on drums. This is the original lineup and by far the favorite lineup. In the 70s they never went anywhere without the makeup and no one knew what they looked like without the makeup(never happen today). In the 80s the makeup came off with a different lineup. In the 90s the original lineup reunited with the makeup back on. The original lineup is no longer there but they are still wearing the makeup. They are the soundtrack to my life

He is still doing music, especially his put together Motown cover group Soul factory . Yes they did go without makeup, but def not the same feel to me. Yes Gene Simmons was the most popular. I was very fortunate to see them in 1977, great year as i was 17 and i saw the Beatles also. (thanks big brother) Then finally last year KISS came to Milwaukee and my friend hooked me up and I was back stage and Paul Stanley signed my book and bro hugged me.

This was a different side of Kiss that many fans weren't thrilled about when it was first released. They did a few change ups during the 80's, tweaking their sound and look, trying to stay current and relevant, including losing their makeup for a while. In 96 by overwhelming requests and support of fans, the original members rejoined in full makeup and began awe-inspiring old and new fans alike. All four original members took turns doing lead vocals at times. And Ace Frehly (lead guitar) is still my favorite of the bunch. I always gravitated towards the songs he sang more, and always thought his Kiss Solo LP was the best of the bunch. ✌️

Im sure many of you know the reason Paul wrote this song was a bet he made that a rock band could create a disco song fast and easily. I think he proved it. Even though we all hated it when it came out it ended up being their highest grossing song and now stands the test of time. Gene hated it and almost refused to perform it, yet youd never know it seeing this video. Thats because they are pure professionals.

The opening riff to this song is so iconic of the KISS sound it's probably one of the most recognisable Riffs in Rock history. Once you've heard it you'll never forget it. Screw the hardcore KISS fans with their anti-disco attitude, I say... This song was a huge hit for them and won them a lot of fans who wouldn't have otherwise cared for KISS at all.

Kiss was on the downhill slide here in the states. They became popular with that song in South America and in Europe. No self respecting American Kiss fan really likes that disco song or the era for that matter. They became disco then bubble gum then they became really weird with the Elder. They went off the tracks starting with Dynasty.

I was a hardcore, hard-rocking KISS fan before "I Was Made for Lovin' You," and when that song was released, I loved it and the whole album, "Dynasty." I didn't think they were selling out by simply mixing in different styles with their usual hard rock sound. I never stopped being a KISS fan when so many fans abandoned them from 79-82. I loved the albums of that era and later.

Been a KISS fan since 1975 I was 14 years old when I went my first KISS concert, but to me the best Kiss musically wasn't the original line-up. Not taking away anything from Peter Criss & Ace Frehley (Peter Criss is the reason I play a 12 piece drum-kit to this day. You need to check out the song Rise to it. with Bruce Kulick on lead guitar and the late -great Eric Carr on drums. He came in the band when original drummer P.C. had quit. Made them a harder hitting band. Bruce's brother Bob Kulick played on a go bit on their earlier albums and after Ace left the band they had Vinnie Vincent on lead guitar for a while(check lick it up) album ,then a guy name Mark Saint-John came in, but left for health reason. That when Bob Kulick told Gene & Paul to try out his brother. They are still Touring today with a guy name Tommy Thayer on lead guitar and Eric Singer on drums. Eric Singer came the band when 2nd drummer (E.C.) died from cancer in 91. Still a Great Band , especially their LIVE shows. You will never for-get a KISS CONCERT. Still remember my first all those years ago. seen 4

Kiss (often stylized as KIϟϟ) is an American rock band formed in New York City in January 1973 by Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Ace Frehley, and Peter Criss. Well known for its members' face paint and stage outfits, the group rose to prominence in the mid-late 1970s with its shocking live performances, which featured fire breathing, blood-spitting, smoking guitars, shooting rockets, levitating drum kits, and pyrotechnics. The band has gone through several lineup changes, with Stanley and Simmons being the only members to feature in every lineup. The original and best-known lineup consists of Stanley (vocals and rhythm guitar), Simmons (vocals and bass), Frehley (lead guitar and vocals), and Criss (drums and vocals). With their make-up and costumes, the band members took on the personae of comic book-style characters: the Starchild (Stanley), the Demon (Simmons), the Spaceman or Space Ace (Frehley), and the Catman (Criss). Due to creative differences, Criss had departed the band in 1980, and Frehley in 1982.

Here is a little bit of history on this song: "I Was Made for Lovin' You" draws heavily from the disco style that was popular in late-1970s United States. According to legend, the members of the band were in conflict with their producers, who wanted the band to shift to a more commercial sound. In response, the band argued that lucrative disco songs could be written by anyone in a short time frame. The story goes that the song's demo was completed in mere hours after the bet. While the story is unproven, Paul Stanley, who co-wrote the song with Desmond Child and Vini Poncia, has stated that it was a conscious effort on his part to prove how easy it was to write and record a hit disco song.[5] Gene Simmons revealed in a 2018 interview that he always disliked the song because of his vocal part.
