I also don’t like being touched..... can’t stand high pitch sounds and yet it took 27 years to be diagnosed with NOT one BUT 4 different things..... why should I have to wait 27 yrs to get help...... why do people NOT believe autism is real.... they can clearly see we r different to other people but it’s only RECENTLY that people are even acknowledging autism...... EXPERTS have existed for this for years but I know FROM PERSONAL experiences that they DO NOT no what they r talking about
@lostindisorder5 жыл бұрын
@@zachall101 - You do know that research and knowledge about autism has changed so much over the years right? It might be a case of things back when we were young that autism wasn't that well known about - because you know medical science is a constantly evolving thing as we learn more - OR you had a few crap doctors in your time, or I really don't know. Or it could be country related? where are you from? Look back to the 1960's-80's, if you had autism they'd label you as schizophrenic and some would be sent to permanent mental hospitals. Things have changed so much since. This day and age that isn't normal. I feel bad for you, but at the same time, your opinion is heavily skewed due to your experience. Times have changed. Though with the whole anti-vax movement you'd assume we're slipping back into the stone ages or something. Stay safe and well, just remember though "experts" back then don't have the same knowledge as "experts" right now. Please don't tar people who are working to help people with the same brush that you tar the people from your past with. Experts can only be experts in the current knowledge available, research is always an on going thing, there's things even in this modern era that will be wrong - and in the future people will discover better ways of diagnosing and treating things. I think every loved one of someone suffering from a persistent psychological condition basically is thinking: *Just get better already!* However, it rarely works that way. For Connor the problem was compounded by the fact that he's a surgeon. To be able to function, a surgeon needs a certain degree of arrogance to pursue the solution they've determined is necessary no matter how severe or urgent the situation - To believe in themselves and that they can save their patient. It's just that this mindset carried over into an area where he has no expertise. I think that Dr Charles would have been happier if Connor had done some research and could reassure him that he was aware of Robyn's condition, challenges and the regime he had to work with to protect Robyn. Instead, he basically said: "Hey, I've got it! Trust me!"

It wasn't that. His judgement was based on the fact his own father neglected him. He doesn't understand doctor Charles isn't his father.
@1492KatherinePierce2 жыл бұрын
Honestly yes. I was sad for him too. But I think it was more over the combination of having troubles with his own father and not being able to safe his mother when he was a kid. I think he loves Robin but just tries to safe her after he failed with his mother (which was obvious since he was a kid). Haha this show kinda makes me feel I need to get Connor into therapy 😂

1. Risperidone is not used for auditory, visual or gustatory hallucinations. 2. Olazapine is not used as a sedative alone. 3. Lorazepam used in connection with Olanzapine is good for hallucinations. And no IM benzo or antipsychotic works that quickly.

Yeah true 😅 also As she attacks him with the broom he steps into glass and never ever anyone talked about it. Same with a few episodes later when he cuts his finger with a knife starting to show symptoms of his lack of sleep and personal stress combined with working. You never see this again and no one ever talks about it again. Like come on don’t start a storyline you’re not gonna end 😅

Both were wrong, as both were biased. Although Dr. Charles was a mental health professional, doctors are advised, often forbidden from treating their family members as they cannot make impartial decisions, ultimately not being able to provide the best care. He should've asked a colleague to deal with it, which also would have made a legal challenge impossible.
@NickRyanBayon5 жыл бұрын
Gasssolo except that in this case she was very clearly psychotic he might not have been the one treating her in the psych center but he could admit her. There is no bias in his diagnostic sincr both what dr rhodes told him and the behavior he saw were clear indications of psychosis.
@sarahj67955 жыл бұрын
OK, 3 things: 1. Psychiatric wards can suck sometimes, I know, I've been there, but they are often VERY necessary. 2. No doctor should treat immediate family, even if they are right about diagnosis/treatment. 3. How did Rhodes make it through medical school without learning that sometimes, symptoms can disappear and then reappear? That's not even a psychiatric thing, that's true for a ton of conditions.

Dr Rhodes contradicted himself at multiple turns, and at the end, he stated that she "was rational and lucid, she was fine", yeah, she was fine in the psych ward too, but the difference between being there and in your apartment, is that when that lucid state spontaneously changes, she'll be safe in one place, and, well, you saw

But we gotta say, love you Conner but Daniel's right, even if he is overprotective, you don't know what's going to happen next, she could be suicidal the next morning, putting her in a ward is like the safest thing, and them Conner just thinks he's being overprotective because that's his daughter

7:41 hallucinations are normally our attempt at confronting a problem that has no physical form for us, so that we find it more defeatable. I think that's why while I feel sorry for her, I also see some sort of a beautiful fighting pattern here. Because this hallucination shows that at some level, she's aware she's sick and is having an inner struggle against her demons. I just wished she was winning.

He says she's locked up, in prison. but aren't we all prisoners, after all there are so many rules these days, we might as well be prisoners of the system. also he says that place is gonna drive her crazy and trust me that's true. I've tried such a place and I felt like I went nuts. I had on the first day a neighbour patient who was so stupid in the head, he didn't know how to use the alarm button. so day in and day out he be yelling: Miss, miss, miss, miss, miss. if that doesn't make you want to bash in his skull, I don't know what wil.

Tortured Soul psychiatric hospitals are only for sometimes a few days to a couple of weeks i have been in several, once your medications are adjusting and you are reviewed cleared you are sent home with meds and given an appointment and follow up date with your normal or if you have none set a psychiatrist.

I hate how so many people think they can handle their, or their loved ones' mental issues as if they are just a small hurdle in the way. Take phobias for example, so many people think phobias are the same as fear, not understanding that it is a DEBILITATING fear. Telling phobic people to "just get over it". Mental issues are so complex that we barely know anything about them now let alone 100 years ago. So what makes you an expert?!
