Top bass player and a cool guy. It's a shame he played in a band without real songs, no melody.
@paulomahony52124 жыл бұрын
Does anyone know what the first groove he plays with the drummer is? The one that starts at 33:35? Is it a TOP song?

Interesting how he never looks away from the neck, where Pino Paladino rarely looks at the neck.
@elviradark69024 жыл бұрын
Pino plays primitive crap, a good bass player can play pino's stupid grooves using only one arm.

Is that constant Buzz coming from the bass? Single coils, so annoying. I don't know if what you get tone wise is worth putting up with the buzzing.
@Oneness10010 жыл бұрын
I don't the buzz is bass related, I think it's just a wiring issue they could haven fixed.
@bottomsupbass9 жыл бұрын
always happens in stores. got to do with combination of circuits , lighting and lights on the same circuit as amps and maybe a little guitar noise. all those devices in the room dont help
@westinthewest8 жыл бұрын
+gimmeagig The mic is on the edge of feedback. I'd say it was all assembled in a rush or with a hangover. An event like this should have been recorded with more thought and care.
@82stuntman7 жыл бұрын
tim starkey I think you nailed it dead on. The buzz was probably picked up in the wiring somewhere between the amp and recording device.

That bass sounds terrible on it's own. Amazing how that works within the sound of the band. I'm sure he wouldn't use it if it didn't. But Rocco did start out on a P Bass, I wonder if he just messed with a good thing by going with ESP. It would be interesting to hear him play a P bass now.
@bobamato18 жыл бұрын
No, this bass DOES NOT sound TERRIBLE on its own. How do I know this? I own one! The pickups and preamp are VERY powerful and you just need the right amp, settings, strings and cables to make this thing work right. Oh yea, it helps if you don't have a drummer who drowns you out.

Werid bass setup. I know P and J setups are pretty normal but this is different. That big gap between pickups is Werid. Lol I like the slant on the J. Like a Warwick Thumb would have or a Dingwall.
@richardmilligan14103 жыл бұрын
I know. When I saw that was his signature bass. It didn't quite make sense with the pickup placement.
@Carryon39210 жыл бұрын
Rocco does not look well here at all. Also, the mark and dark patch on his right forearm...an intravenous port mark for post-surgery treatment? Pancho Tomaselli calls Rocco "Bass royalty" at 23:53... truer words were never spoken.
@BorbasBence10 жыл бұрын
I was thinking the same. He looks like he doesn't feel good at all, but still plays great, never misses a note!

This Time Is Real is unlistenable, and it's not Rocco, it's the band, Garibaldi in particular. It's NOT swingin. Maybe this is what Ray Greene was trying to say, like DG, back off. It sounds like Garibaldi's pushing a brick uphill.
@nitram14917 жыл бұрын
I've been a TOP fan for all my life from 12-57yrs and here are my experiences I met Rocco a couple of times and he was rude, to say the least. I guess fans aren't his thing nor does he realize where his income comes from. I met Doc who was still in his drug addict days and only wanted drugs and told me to F-off since I did not have any. I once met Larry Braggs and he would not sign anything but his CD and told me to go buy it, quite rude. Lastly I once met Carlos Santana and he was an even bigger jerk and totally blew me and my buddy off so his wrap about God and Love is phony or rather applys on a perfect day of his choosing.. So what was the lesson, these guys are human and very talented musician but they don't have any humility even though they pretend like they do. So now I'd avoid them all but still enjoy their music. Quite sad but that's the reality and many of us would probably act the same so I am not saying I am better. God blessed with with talent but not alot of gratitude nor basic kindness. Forgive me but the truth is the truth...

hmmmh..weird..i had the exact opposite vibe..TOP were playin at the Cave in Van bc..i dunno..77-ish..? a guitar player friend and i..HAMMERED..and high..snuck backstage pretty much right after the show..found Rocco..and i SOMEHOW got this guy..to sit down with me..he grabbed onea his basses..and took me thru what is Hip..note by note..then let me bonk away on it..tellin me where my hand had to be..the fingerwork..etc..on HIS BASS..and, unfortunately..i was just to F'd up to grasp what i really had goin on..at that moment. he was AWESOME to me... i was and still am..a greasy ol biker tho..so..maybe that was somehow ok with him..? y'know..Oakland an all...lol and i'm STILL tryin to nail his chops down..to this day.. He's all good in my books.
