I took my daughter's husband to Nick Tahou's. He wants to move to Rochester now. He almost finished two plates. His other favorite place closed. LDR Charpit was amazing. Rochester is filled with great dive places.

Just got back from a trip to Rochester and had a Garbage plate from Steve T's Hots and Potatoes. Honestly was amazing. Can't wait to go back in the future to the original spot and have a Garbage plate

I hadn't been to Nick Tahou's for 50 years or more. I was traveling through on business and stopped by the other day for a garbage plate. It was just as delicious (including the bread!) as ever. Great stuff. I think it cost around twelve bucks and it was well worth it.

Use to go there all the time after leaving the bar with my group of friends. It use to be so busy on Friday and Saturday nights every single table was full, line out the door. They have the best meat hot sauce! I wish the burgers were a little bigger and the Mac salad had more mayo but it’s still great and you do get a lot of food for the price you really can’t complain! I think it’s 13 bucks for a plate and if you compare that to what you get at a fast food restaurant it’s so much better and it’s real food

Used to go a lot in the 1990s. Cheap, $6 and the atmosphere is fun as well. It tastes so good, even when sober, but the "payback" the next day or so can be brutal. The closest thing I can relate it to is the Greek diner skit on Saturday Night Live. Attitude is angry but funny. Just go for the experience of watching people!

WHEN I GO, I order a cheeseburger plate, sub mac salad for the fries (double mac), and add a grilled cheese. After that grilled cheese is on top of the burgers with the mustard and onions, you sauce that up. YES!!

Actually eating it fastest was a thing with the group I hung out with. My dairy farmer friend could eat it so quick it was ridiculous.

So sad that we can't keep the city safe enough that Tahous can be open late like they used to be.

And it's healthy for you too! My cousin lost 150lbs by eating 2 garbage plates everyday for 6 months!

I believe it. The cheeseburger plate has about 90-100g of protein. Beans, meat and cheese, literally can’t get better than that for building muscle. If you work 9-5 in a factory or have a labor job you will easily burn off the excess calories from fat.

If you omit the potatoes and mac, it’s all protein. The salt content might raise your blood pressure but good if you’re trying to gain muscle

I used to work at Tahous 10 years ago and I just got done helping train some new people at the restaurant as a favor and I was there for maybe a month. I literally ate 2 plates a day and I actually lost 15 pounds. I thought for sure that I was going to gain weight because I was actually ear more working at Tahous than when I'm not there.

There are a number of places that have better plates than Nick Tahous. Less greasier and better tasting meat hot sauces. Along with charbroiled burgers and hots.
