I really like how you did your rivers and enjoy the video very much, I wish you and your family a very Happy and safe New Year,Rusty from Brisbane , Australia 🇦🇺🇦🇺👍 ( I enjoy watching your video more than I did watching the Jets this morning, they are just embarrassing and should not be shown on any Network for a very long time)🫣🤮

Thanks Rusty! Poor, poor Jets and their fans. Never too late to join the Chiefs bandwagon!

Two videos in as many days - you’re spoiling us. 😂 Daryl - love watching your processes as you achieve your end results. That concrete road by Holcim looks great and I love the murky color of the river Great work in 2024 and thanks so much for sharing. Have a safe holiday and eagerly awaiting the next update in the New Year.

Great video and great session Saturday. I enjoyed running the updated Holcim cement plant.

Thanks, Mitch. Holcim cement is a cool part of the layout. I'm really enjoying the sessions as the crew gets more and more experienced.

I just saw in Walthers Catalog they now have what you used for your roadbed at first, the form stuff. They also have it in sheets and for double main line tracks. Also, the fellow from East Terminal Railway mentioned your channel as a reference to why crashes happen; gravity. Just a five minute video I thought was interesting even though I follow his channel. Great to see this lay out coming to a finish. Mine will never be done as I treat it as a test layout. Just wood here and there and track on top to see the trains run. Not into scenery stuff when I have failed too often at it. Love what you have done so far.

It has the same profile as cork roadbed. The Hobby Innovations roadbed had higher profiles. It was also quite dense. Im interested in the density of the Walthers roadbed.

Idea for transitions between back drop and Weever River: Paint in a roller dam (not protypical) use white dry brush to streak in froth. Love you work!
@EvanstonSub22 күн бұрын
I like to stick to the prototype when possible. Also, not sure I could paint a roller dam.

Looks good Daryl. Did not quite get to the ballasting this year but you should pick it up in 2025. Weber River looks magnificent. The resin will need a few more drops of olive darb but it looks good. First of 2025 time to tackle the big gorilla in the room Echo Pass itself. Can't wait until you get to that area. One way that you can mask the scene where the devil's slide area begins and the Croydon area begins is to place the 1,000 Mile Tree right there at the corner. That is where it is on the prototype.
@EvanstonSub25 күн бұрын
Yes, the ballasting will be the first big project next year. Unless... I get it done today or tomorrow :)

Great video. The Cuervo area is still the main attraction but with this video the Holcim cement and Weber River area is becoming a very close second. It gets better each week!

I think so too.

Great work as always. I'm surprised you dont scratch in the cement joints. Its 3 dimensional and more prototype in my opinion.
@EvanstonSub25 күн бұрын
Don't think a scratch would be noticeable unless weathering powers got caught in them.

Any thought to a full force speaker on the big boy? I'm about to order one for my 844, and put an ESU decoder in. The TSU died, and I think I'm on the bandwagon of swapping to ESU.
@EvanstonSub25 күн бұрын
Never thought about that. Actually, might want to put a speaker in the boiler somehow as it is noticeable that the sound is coming from the tender.
@harryw635824 күн бұрын
would like to see some deadfall and rocks and stuff like that in the river. I have seen guys epoxy that stuff right into the water and looked really good
@EvanstonSub24 күн бұрын
Unfortunately, not much of that in the Weber River. It's a mountain river and so is pretty fast moving. Never saw any dead fall or rocks in the water.
@harryw635824 күн бұрын
@@EvanstonSub ahhh that explains it then. Thanks for showing us all your work. I have been watching and learning from you for years. I miss the geneva sub since I grew up in the Quad cities and that is about as close as the UP got to us, but the landscape and features of the evanston sub is so much more interesting then farmland lol

Hello there, great looking layout. Just wondering where you got your mountain background and how much do you think for a 12 ft section. Thank you.
@EvanstonSub24 күн бұрын
I took the photos myself and used Gimp photo editing software to layout a 2400x9600 pixel photo. I had this printed at Walgreens as a 2'x8' banner. Cost was $16.
