Lovely stuff there, I quite enjoyed the tour. You managed to stay way under budget and still buy some nice crystals, well done Cliff!

Hi Cliff, I’ve only been to a couple of gem shows so far but the prices there look better than I have seen up here in S. E. Queensland. I remember thinking the same thing when you went to Thornton last time. Thanks for showing us around. Keep Safe & Keep Rockin

Hello, I've been watching your videos for a while and interesting in getting into gem cutting as a hobby. I am I bit confused on how you figure out the length and width of a gem. As well as, a starting point. How do you determine where to start cutting into a gem. How do look at a gem diagram translate that at the start? Do you just pick any point and start cutting? Also, would you be able to create a playlists for your different types of videos? I've been searching for an answer to my question but you have so many videos. It would help me alot. Thanks in advance.

first thing I saw you pick up was Golden Labradorite . it's the Oregon State Gem . found north of Goose Lake , in S.E. Oregon . I have three peanut butter jars full of them . I would give them away if I liked the cutter . Cliff , do you want any ? continuing the video so I can make more comments (Oregon , USA) I started prospecting almost fifty years ago at the Himalayan Mine in N. San Diego County (california) for tourmaline and garnet , just cut 200+ carats last year of some of my best tourmaline crystals . I find magic in cutting my own stuff . last summer I came back with jars of Topaz from Topaz Mt. in Utah . it's hard to shut me up when talking about minerals and gems , sorry

Hi Volpe, I would love some Golden Labradorite. They facet a really bright gem. When I saw them at the gem show and I was keen to get some for future projects. Yes, I like to facet material I find also, as it has personal significance. My bucket list is to go to the Tuscon Gem show. I've seen several videos of Topaz Mt where people have found Topaz crystals there. I wouldn't mind a doing that field trip also. Australia does have nice gems, however the easy pickings were dealt with decades ago. You have to work a lot harder to find quality material of size now. I can be contacted on this email - vintagetimegems@aol.com Cheers Cliff

Hello. Great video. It was interesting to see so many gems in one place. I have a lot of Peridot and a tonne of Fire Agate as well as Quartz. Though the most gems I have are Agates. I was wondering if you'd be willing to facet a piece of agate. I'm sure it'd be fun

Prices seem to be cheaper than New Zealand

Sorry mate I had to chuckle a little. You have a $50 AUD budget and one used book alone would cost that in the US. I think I need to shop with you.

Cliff what got you into faceting instead of cabbing?
