Rap focuses on violence especially on women. The lyrics are mostly negative and so call music is synthesized. The ‘50’s music was fun, the rhythm got people to get up and dance and the romantic lyrics spoke of love. The great generation didn’t approve because the inspiration for rock and roll was rhythm and blues.

This song was playing on an oldies station when I was spending an afternoon with my grandma. I was about 16 at the time, and something of a silly SJW at the time (though it was 1988 or so), and so I was indifferent to 50's music (and rolled my eyes at what I perceived as 'too wholesome' at the time). My grandma abruptly got up and said, "This is how your mom and I used to dance back in the day." And after she'd danced the song away and the drum bit ended it, she smiled and made a sweeping gesture like, 'And there you have it.' It was so uncharacteristic of her, as stuffy as she could be in general, that I never forgot it. We bonded better after I grew up and got over my teenage mentality. I miss her. That was one of my best 'grandma memories', especially when I hear the song. I wish I could have told her how much fun she could be when she let her hair down a bit, and how much I appreciated the things she did teach me and share with me. And I would ask her to share stories about her life in the 50's too.

As a kid from the new generation I'm low key tired of people saying: "When music was music" "I wanna go back to the 50's" "I'm so quirky cause I like 50's music" "Music back then was made with heart" I'm sorry but no, I absolutely ADORE this song, I'm even making a 50's themes choreography about it, but no need to be negative about nowadays music, you're not diferent for wanting to be from the 50's, you're not diferent for appreciating or liking this type of music, people still make music with their heart and soul, most of them do? Well no, but a lot of artist go out of their way to put in their hard work into a song and people just think it's a bad song or if it's good then it's just heartless. Yea people from this generation can enjoy 50's music you oldies can't say you didn't enjoy old music back in the day, because before this song there where many more absolutely marvelous songs. I personally enjoy all types of music genres and from various generations, does that make me different? Hell no Can't we just enjoy this timeless piece of art instead of bringing down the music from exact same generations that have allowed you to comment and download this type of music, that have allowed your tired and most of the time lazy asses to not have to go to the store, buy a disk that if you have kids will break or ruin with no hesitation. Technology is not an excuse to be lazy, tired of older people acting as if younger generations don't know what a book is. No Bob I know what a goddammed book is, I've read one , fisical and digital ones. All generations have their pros and cons. The fact that the 50's had good music and clothing doesn't mean that back then they were better than us. The point is, generations can produce good music and this song is an absolute Gem, thank you. Bye

I’m over 40 and I still dance to it. But I have seen young kids dance to it too. Dancing keeps you young. Believe me.
