Rock Band Singer Hearing Twenty One Pilots 1st time - Shy Away - Old Guy Reaction

TwentyOne Pilots in their song Shy Away. This reaction was fun because the Rock Singer had never heard twenty one pilots. What is interesting is that I read an article that Tyler (Lead Singer) sold most of his portfolio of songs. So, this song "Shy Away" was a new one that he is keeping in his portfolio....at least for now anyway.
I am no expert in these guys, nor do I have much knowledge about the sale of the portfolio, but I do suspect he sold it because he decided to move to bigger and better songs (in his mind). Twenty one pilots fans hold all the songs near and dear to their hearts, but the artists themselves feel they get better and better, and then some of their old songs mean less to them down the road.
Anyway...this one was fun.

this song was written about his brother to pursue music, but it can obviously be for anyone as you two pointed out! he did actually have his brother open for them at a few of their concerts this fall - his name is Jay Joseph the other singles they've released on the new album are Saturday and Choker - The Outside was also released, but does not have a video (yet)

From my understanding it’s a song to his brother that wants to get into music. Funny you mention isolation, the album is called Scaled and Icy (short for scaled back and isolated) Love the reaction!

A friend of mine got backstage at a gig of theirs a couple of years ago. It was her birthday, and they gave her one of every bit of merch they were selling, signed whatever she wanted and posed for pics with her. Totally solid, nice dudes

Always love your reactions and how thoughful your comments are man! I don't understand much about how music ownership works and stuff but my understanding was that the deal Tyler made just means that another company, run by his label has more control of the publishing of his music and tyler and his manager are advisors for that company so he gets a say in how they use it anyway. Fans are hoping that will lead to the release of an old album that isn't available on streaming platfors currenty due to a deal made with their label when they first signed but don't know how likeley that is.

My thirteen-year-old daughter wanted to go to a twenty one pilots concert and I wouldn't allow her to go alone, so I reluctantly bought a ticket for myself and went along. While it isn't my choice of music style, I was pleasantly surprised at the amazing talent of these two guys. I have since begun to listen to twenty one pilots, which has caused my daughter to move on because anything that I listen to must be un-cool.

All of this last album from them (save a few songs) are playing around with retro sounds and vibes. Would strongly suggest this album. this is their most positive album, and my personal favorite. I liked other songs from other albums more. but this album has none that i dislike at all. only one song from this did not hit my personal playlist

In August Tøp sold the rights to a bunch of their songs to Tempo Music Investments. Tyler and Josh still own all their songs, but that company can now use those songs however they want.
