Brand new subscriber. I have just begun doing some carving myself, and I would like to suggest carpeting underneath and around your work space and maybe a rubber floor mat on your drip table. I am carving resin but have NIGHTMARES of dropping and chipping my work as I am sure alot of us do. But that being texted, awesome work D.O. And thank you for posting. See you can do this type of carving with relatively cheap tools, some processes would be faster and more refined. Nice work. Keeps us busy and focused. Been doing alot of shell too. Using the quahog shell native to this area of R.I.. Seeing you can pretty much only do this kinda stuff outside, it's along time till spring. Put some E6000 gtlue or 2 part epoxy in the that crack , hate too see your hard work shot if you can prevent it. Rock will be around indefinitely, 100s of years from now your ancestors could have a rememberance or some could think they found an ancient carving, who knows.

Yeah I'm learning as I go I've been using boiled linseed oil to seal everything I do both wood and rock should I be using something else any suggestions will be appreciated thanks for watching

Thank you I enjoy it so time really doesn't matter to me I usually send 4 or 5 hours a day of free time working on a peace it depends on what has to get done around the house

Thank You for sharing Your Talent!! I bounce around with different things and finally got a Wet Saw and created little hearts with it. I've been thinking about trying to do the families names in stone as a gift but wasn't sure how to go about it. Your videos certainly helped me out with a work station and cutting bits for the work. I don't have any of the beautiful stones available to me like what you have but I should be able to find something maybe through a landscaping company that deals with rocks. I live in Florida and wanted to find something I could do outside and still stay somewhat cool. This looks like a winner!! I really enjoy the solar setup you have, great way to both enjoy your craft and save too. God Bless You Always Friend!! Thanks Again for sharing!! ☺️

Glad you found it useful and if you can scratch a stone with a pocket knife easily you should be able to carve it. Hopefully I can find the time to do some more carvings and upload them soon. Right now I'm playing around with carving wooden feathers and I'm still trying to figure out the video part and do some time lapse video

And I'm going to copy your irrigation system because dry carving is very uncomfortable, even if you soak the stone from time to time.

It will cut the dust down drastically and if you are outside which I recommend because of the mud splatter apply bug repellent and add dish soap to the water to combat mosquitoes

I have the Dremel 3000 machine, it is the least powerful and tomorrow I will send it for repair, I only used it for a few days and for a short time and it broke. But Dremel repaired it for me and in 48 hours. I have it again.

It should have enough power just don't force it let the machine do the work. I suggest getting a flex shaft attachment if you use water as I do and remove the carving bits when not in use.

@@makingd.o.123 thanks for answering friend. I have the flexible shaft which is included with the machine. Yesterday I was cutting sheets of white stone (marmolina). It's the only time I've forced it, so to speak. I only managed to cut 4 and the machine failed. But tomorrow they will repair it. And thanks for your advice to remove the tips when not in use.

I was finally able to translate your comment thank you for watching and I have not mastered rock sculpting yet but I'm teaching myself as I go and if I find something that makes the whole process easier for me I try to pass it on in my videos and I'm trying to make my videos more watchable please be patient the videos will get better I'm learning KZbin and editing as I go also

Thank you if you think he's too young to handle a knife safely you might try getting him some clay from hobby lobby you can save what he molds and it would dry hard in a few days and he could paint them if he wanted
