Come tour Rock City Mushroom farm with us. This diversified farm in upstate New York is producing hundreds of pounds of shiitake, oyster, lions mane, and other specialty mushrooms each week. They purchase blocks in and fruit the mushrooms in below ground chambers. Rock City has been growing for over 7 years so learn some of the dos and don'ts as well as set expectations for what it is to be a commercial mushroom farmer.

Please, clean that humidifier (amongst other things). A dirty humidifier will quickly spread molds and bacteria.

Can you explain how is shocking process managed for following flushes, literatures refer that blocks should be soaked however if you have thousand of blocks I cant imagine how it can be managed

Yeah a 5 hour soak is typical for subsequent flushes. We have also put them outside and just let them fruit when the rains come.

@@fungially This method might be useful for very small scale but if you make even a mid size farm with thousand block production per month and wait for rain, thats not practical suppose. Is it possible to increase humidity up to 95% to induce following flushes?
@fungially
@fungially 2 жыл бұрын
@@gigimikabadze8296 It could be practical if a grower had a market for dried mushrooms or extracts that could be made with those mushrooms. I am not sure about the increase in humidity, even the really big farms in PA soak their shiitake blocks for subsequent flushes, I don't know of another reliable way to do it.
