I was glad to see Doogie in Rainbow. Really good singer. Unfortunately, Ritchie is like that but, as Doogie said, Ritchie has helped excellent vocalists become known and appreciated. All the best to Doogie.

When the Doog speaks on Ritchie, he stares off blankly into space. Remembering times that will always be cherished. The impact Blackmore had and still has on soo many people can never be overestimated. When Gene Simmons tells people Blackmore needs to be given more credit than he gets, you know his brand, so to speak, is grossly undervalued. Something about not participating in the R&R Hall of Fame bullshit, always amazes me. Only Ritchie can get himself into those types of situations. Who else? For me, he represents something nobody else has been able to withstand. What would appearing in front of all them people do for him? Nothing.

Funny, Hills Angels said exactly the same about Benny, if you can do the job you'll also get opportunities beyond, Richie might have the odd character issue but he sounds like a good boss who does right by his workers if they put in the effort as Doogie evidently did.

Doogie says he could of chose anyone but he chose me ! Dio had said Ritchie asked him first to be the singer for the album ,that would become Stanger in Us All . But Dio turned it down as he thought the music Ritchie wanted to make was too much like what they did in 1976 for Rainbow Rising . And wanted to create something new . So Ritchie ended up finding Doogie instead .

Sorry but the title is in fact click bait. There is no "brutal take" on Blackmore. Instead there are very respectful and well presented opinions from a man that has admiration for the guitarist and is thankful for the help in his career. I do enjoy a lot of these clpped interviews but it does no service to the work you are doing to go and put a header in suggesting outrage when there isn't any. Let your skills as an interviewer (you are a good listener) be the reason for folks to watch you rather than trying to con folks (and also headers like this could make an artist look nasty or bitter when they aren't).

It’s not about , how good you are with technics etc. There are thousands of great shredders. It’s about collaborating with your fellow band mates, and finding a cool riff and rhythm, then a hook.Getting lyrics to it and a bass line. Then if that all works, you put in solos etc. Sometimes you work off a song lyrics and put music to it.

I saw Rainbow at the Tower Theater in Philadelphia in 1978, 3,000 seat arena, with the best lineup he ever had, Dio, Daisley, Powell & Stone , the first hour was spectacular, then out of nowhere for some unknown reason, Blackmore flipped out & went bezerk, smashed his guitar & walked off & didn’t come back. Dio came out & said on behalf of the band he was sorry but Ritchie is done playing for the night. It wasn’t long after that that Dio quit & started his own band. He is still one of my top 5 guitarist’s but that night was a huge disappointment because the band was unbelievable!
