Michael, the demos are cool but I think it's about time you'll put your musical ideas together and give us an album! After all, you need to get all of your knowledge on tone and give it a purpose, in creating the best tones ever and place them into some fantastic compositions. I must tell you this thing: i'm digging all the rig collections of the TH-U site (with an Audient Sono and a pair of open planar headphones... so)... but yours are THE ONLY ONES rig/presets that sounds EXACTLY like the name/artist/song of the presets! I can ear in each of your presets all the knowledge and the experience you put in your "tone reconstruction" videos when you use the real hardware! ANDDD... you are THE ONLY (f***ing) ONE that show your presets playing (very well, btw) the riff of the songs that are supposed to be by the name of the presets! I trust your ears Mr. Mike. How do you compare the THU to the Kemper as far as usability and realistic dynamics/captures? I have both. But if the Kemper blows up I'm in trouble. The THU is backed up on my Mac Time Machine. That's a big plus. Asking because I'm considering unloading the Kemper to make room for other toys! Thanks for what you do.

Satriani's guitar tones on the Extremist were peak Satriani, in my opinion. The Vai tones were spot on too. I'll have to go back to THU and give a go. Thanks.

Man, I dunno. Surfing is one of two uniquely bright 80s albums where they focused right in on all the hurt frequencies but still made listenable. I would personally want Extremist tone, but it's not what I consider iconic in any way. (The other album is AFD. Same there, lots of dudes can barely stand to play those amps)

@@John-mh9ty Fair. It's just an opinion. Taste is subjective. Love Surfing, it is iconic. It was a watershed moment for instrumental guitar. It's one of the reasons I still play. The Extremist is still peak for me. The tone, the songs, melodies, and overall production is still amazing and timeless to me and was never really matched again.

Thanks Kurt. NYXL's are my preference. I think these guitars have them. If I can't get those, I'll do regular D'Addario strings. It's very similar. I switch picks probably too often. Dunlop Jazz III, Fender Heavy Teardrop, Dunlop Cortex .80, sometimes .88.

Because THU has a comprehensive FX palette, and endless processing, I can take these sounds as far as I need. The Kemper has a pretty minimal FX section (only 4 post amp FX slots, including EQ, compression), so it's hard to get as exact. That said, I've gotten pretty good at squeezing a lot of great tones from the Kemper. Most of these sounds started life in the Kemper, and a variation can be found in the corresponding Kemper packs on my site. www.bighairyprofiles.com
