How hard do you think it's gonna be? "It's a jeep, it's always hard" Flawless response
@Iamk2jones7 жыл бұрын
I've done a fair bit of reading on cages and harness bars and from what I have learners that rear harness bar is way to low. The bar needs to be at shoulder level or else in a wreck it will probably result in a broken collar bone. Just my 2 cents... love those seats.
@RockTrooperJeep7 жыл бұрын
Keith Jones good point. I did do some adjusting to the rear harness bar after I hooked up the harness. I removed the plastic molding from around the cage and moved the knuckles down so it moved the bar up.

I was excited to see you install something from Rock Hard. Lew Barth and his wife (owners of Rock Hard) are an amazing couple and are seriously passionate about Jeeps! They are also members of our Jeep Club in Kearney, NE. As always, thanks for your great videos!

That's great to hear! It's awesome that they are part of your club and have the true passion for Jeeps... those are the kind of folks we can all respect!

Norseman yep, they make some real good products. I had the full Sport cage on RockTrooper and it was a great mod. Still debating a full cage setup for this rig....

Bill Rader the harness definitely takes a bit of getter by used to, but now I don't even notice it and it really keeps me snugged into the seat

What is the purpose of putting reclining seats in a jeep, and then put a bar behind them , so you can't use them?

I was thinking that I recognized John's voice. I remember using his SPOD video as a guide for my install. I think I used his Lux Lighting rock light video for that install as well. I always pictured Rock Trooper being from Colorado.
@TrailRecon7 жыл бұрын
Yep, John started making videos on RockTrooper before I began TrailRecon... lot's of good stuff over on his channel!
@appleguy19867 жыл бұрын
Same here rbuste, I personally used many of John's "HOW-TO" videos from his Rocktrooper channel back in 2013/14 to help me with my Jeep upgrades before I had met him. Today, now that I know John personally, I can tell you unequivocally that he is a guy that you can trust to do any job the right way. He is a very meticulous guy and puts a lot of thought and consideration into all he does before he shares it here on KZbin for all to see.

rbuste thanks! You know part of the plan back in the day was to move from California to Colorado, however it never happened. Maybe one day!

If I member right the harness bar is suppose to be lined up with the rear holes in the seat if not you get into a roll over or crash your going to hurt someone how they are mounted right now

I noticed at the beginning of the video, the jeep had the factory fenders. At 9:38 & 9:54, it now has aluminum flat fenders. Who makes these particular flat fenders.
@TrailRecon7 жыл бұрын
I knew someone would catch that! Yep, new fenders, bumper and sliders installed are from Genright. That video will be posted soon.
@RockTrooperJeep7 жыл бұрын
Jim Reed yep, lots of stuff going on! Wait until you see the Genright install, we had all hands on deck and we tackled the upgrade as a team! We still have suspension and axles yet to get installed. Stay tuned!

This is one of the few sites I always watch the adds all the way through. One of the others, 1st508th Airbornes site. He has been a dog lover and help developing a few 'new' breed of dogs, namely his Blue Bay shepherd and a wonderful Renascence Bulldog, a bulldog now a class of its own. If you guys get a chance, give a brother some love. Thanks. And another great post TrailRecon.

Great video! Almost makes me want to trade in my 4Runner for a Jeep. Almost! Just a thought, could you use some MOLLE gear or something similar attached to the rear bar to store recovery and/or first aid equipment?
@TrailRecon7 жыл бұрын
4Runners are great rigs, no need to trade it... well maybe when the JL diesel comes out?! I think the MOLLE ides is a great idea for utilizing that bar for some storage.

Just out of curiosity, what is the point of reclining chairs if they are going to have bars behind them? Can you adjust the seat much with the bars behind them?
@RockTrooperJeep7 жыл бұрын
captnbrandopink I am tall and I recline them back a good bit to get comfortable. Even after, there is still room to move back if needed.

Exactly my 1st thought . No point in installing those full reclining seats when the bar is right behind the seats

Not going to lie... I cringed a little when i saw him cleaning the threads with the drill
@RockTrooperJeep7 жыл бұрын
LOL, I was not cleaning the threads. I was retapping them. RH4X4 includes a tap to redo the holes. It makes threading the bolts into the collar much easier!
@korbinblack6 жыл бұрын
Not gonna lie. I really cringed when I saw you run a tap with a drill.
@Metalcop51506 жыл бұрын
I totally cringed too! The Rock Hard instructions even advise to clean out the threads, prior to install. Definitely a job that I did, by hand, when I installed my Rock Hard harness bar!! I also installed my bar at shoulder height, to avoid injury in a roll-over. Just constructive criticism, I love the vids!!
@aytonbob5 жыл бұрын
It’s very easy to damage threads when using a power tool, I always start the tap by hand then use a power tool.
@richruiz78453 жыл бұрын
Ouch! Using a tap to clean out threads is a no no! You can buy a thread cleaning tool for this. Snap-On make one and that's what I use.

how did they get rid of the seatbelt chime?
@RockTrooperJeep7 жыл бұрын
Well, for now I simply plugged the OEM seatbelt into the receiver and placed it under the seat. I am still reviewing the overall strategy with the OEM seatbelt assembly as well as the airbags (Sensors and bag) that I removed from the OEM seats.

when drilling metal, don't drill at a fast speed like this. it's more efficient to drill slowly. The bit won't heat up as much and the bit will dig into the metal easier and faster

What kind of safety testing has been done on system your front bar attached to lip of B piller no support in middle to keep bar from folding rear bar was so low and no torque specs for the clamp bolts . Honestly not to impressed with it
@sonnicman7 жыл бұрын
I like it, and I realize you are utilizing 5 point harnesses but having my kids sitting back there with that metal roll bar feet in front of them makes me uncomfortable.
@RockTrooperJeep7 жыл бұрын
Sonnicman I call it the "tooth chipper" 😉you can put a pad around the front bar, plus the harness will stop anything from moving forward.
@jeffkeiper7 жыл бұрын
That rear bar is installed incorrectly. It should be mounted at the base of the roll bar and angled up to the back of the seat.
@mntbkrguy6 жыл бұрын
It's in there correctly they just have seats that are way too tall for the rear. That bar would be fine if you had the stock seat or a non suspension seat

5 point harnesses are uncomfortable. If you are a professional great, use them. Most will find themselves only using them in extreme terrain. The rest of the time they are worn to loose to be safe or not at all. But they look cool :|
