I’m old enough to remember when he died. I think I was about 14 or so. I ended up becoming a paramedic and I worked during the tail end of the huge AIDS crisis. That disease is awful. Worse than that. Nobody deserves to go through What these poor people had to suffer with. And there was such a stigma. I am so glad that we can talk about it now and that his story can be told. It is so sad that he couldn’t live his life the way he should’ve been able to. He should’ve been able to be free. I hope this documentary does him justice.

Young people need to watch documentaries like this. My mother did not come out of the closet until she was in her fifties. She wasn't selfish or fooling my father. It was out of necessity and fear. Growing up in the 1930s-1960s, especially in religious households, you ran the risk of being abandoned by everyone you knew, losing your job, your children, or worse, jail and possibly being murdered. Go down the rabbit hole of TV and movie stars who had to stay closeted: Troy Donohue, Rock Hudson, Robert Reed. It's heartbreaking. More of these stories need to be told.

I was 10 years old when I first heard about his battle of AIDS. The last appearance he did with Doris Day broke my heart. God bless Elizabeth Taylor for creating AMFAR, and now, with moden technology and medication, people are living longer. AIDS is no longer a death sentence. I wish Rock lived a little longer to get the medications to live. The Reagans refused to make the AIDS epidemic a priority until 1987. By then, thousands of people died of the disease. Hopefully this documentary will give Rock Hudson the appreciation and kindness that he finally deserves which he didn't receive during the last few years of his life.

AID's is a horror that has left many of us, who survived, traumatised to this day from experience of witnessing the horrible deaths and losses which wiped out an entire generation of beautiful men. I did not get a chance to watch the documentary about Rock Hudson. I will. I was starting my journalism career when his publicist, Dale Olson, scheduled an at home interview with him. The last at home was about 12 years prior and I was told by many that he hated doing interviews. I remember the magazine editors asking me to hammer the rumors about AIDS but I chose not to. It didn't feel right. It was up to him to share whatever he wanted to share. He was a dignified, private man totally not affected by his fame and fortune. He opened the door for us and invited us in. Even though gaunt, and probably in pain, he was welcoming and friendly. I remember asking him to pause here and there in his garden, by his pool, by his books ... and he obliged. I had no idea that it would be his last interview.

I knew if I asked Him to play a song on the radio, He would. So I said "Ok Lord, play Come as you are..." I didn't know what station it was on or anything, but I turned the radio on and the song started playing right on the spot, perfectly... I started getting flooded with chills inside, and started crying. When I got home, He stayed with me for 10 minutes till I got out of the car.
